Avatar f tn I purchased the Omron Portable Ultrasonic Nebulizer and am using the vials of Albuterol and Ipratropium. I can only use 1/2 vial because more than that speeds my heart up too much. Can I save the last 1/2 of the vial for later use? Does anybody know of a more affordable way to get the medicine I need? I am paying out of pocket and this economy gets harder every day it seems like.
757137 tn?1347196453 Albuterol is a short-acting bronchodilator, it eases symptoms by opening the airways during an asthma flare-up. It is a β-adrenergic agonist. Side effects are restlessness, irritability and nervousness. Ipratropium blocks the effect of acetylcholine on airways (bronchi) and nasal passages. This is used as an alternative to Albuterol if the side effects are severe with Albuterol. This could also be used in conjunction with Albuterol, to relieve acute flare ups of Asthma.

Avatar n tn Once you pinpoint what your triggers are, you can avoid them, and your asthma medications will start to work again. You can experiment with other asthma medicines, until you are LITERALLY blue in the face, and nothing will give full relief, if you are still exposed to your asthma triggers.
Avatar n tn In addition, if the cough, even in part, is due to asthma, the Combivent® Inhalation Aerosol (ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate) is inadequate therapy for asthma. There are times when cough is the primary symptom or the only symptom of asthma so a trial of an inhaled steroid would be warranted. If vigorous therapy for asthma does not reduce your cough, especially when combined with nasal washes and the use of a nasal steroid inhaler, then you should see an ENT.
Avatar n tn hi, my question is can we mix albuterol, ipratropium, pulmacort together and the order is give these medication together by nebulizer.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have asthma and every year there are some occasional wheezing. This time I'm having trouble breathing. There's no feeling of wheezing but my breathing feels sort of suppressed, or fast breathing. It's liike i am not exhaling or inhaling at my maximum. It feels like I'm suffocating. I told my regular doctor about this and i think she took it as another asthma related problem so she prescribed me inhalers. And if it's not helping she will prescribe me pills.
Avatar f tn Advair is a combination medication used to treat COPD and asthma. It has two active components a cortocosteroid (antiinflamatory) AND an LABA (long acting beta2 agonist that lasts 12 hours). Beta2 agonists are the broncho-dilaters. There are two kinds - long and short acting. Long acting forms are not recommend for use by asthmatics unless they are also being used with a corticosteroid as in Advair (Symbicort and Dulera as well). Short acting forms are a form of albuterol.
Avatar f tn COPD is said to be a combination of emphysema, chronic bronchitis and asthma. Emphysema damage is permanent, but you can possible get rid of the bronchitis. II presume you are using albuterol which is very helpful. Also, if you have a lot of phlegm Mucomyst is wonderful. At least it was for me. Presnisone and inhaled steroids did terrible damage for me so I won't go near them. (They cause osteoporosis, damage your immune system and cause adrenal fatigue. You can check this on the internet.
Avatar n tn We need the right mix of carbon dioxide and oxygen in our lungs to avoid an asthma attack. During an attack it is important to not breath faster, try deep, regular/slow breaths. This helps balance the O2 and Co2. Take the prescribed medication and try to relax. 100% is too much oxygen on the pulse oximeter. An appropriate reading is 90% to 99% which is indicative of a good mixture of gasses in the lungs.
Avatar n tn The medicines used can be asthalin, trebutaline, steroids, ipratropium bromide, and chromolyn sodium amongst a few options available. You will have to keep the house, bed linen etc dust free. Check for molds at home—under sink, bathroom, toilets, drains, damp wall, under carpets etc. Mold spores can make asthma worse. Please consult an asthma specialist. Take care!
Avatar n tn The combination medications which include inhaled steroids and a long acting broncho dilater like Advair, Symbicort and Dulera are standard treatments for all forms of COPD. They are also used to treat asthma which cannot be controlled on inhaled steroids alone. Have a blessed New Year.
Avatar m tn Hi. I'm 15 male having a hard time this and the previous month with coughing. I have visited countless doctors, each time with a different and (with my knowledge) inaccurate diagnosis.
Avatar f tn About a year ago I developed what I thought was the flu. I went to the dr. Who gave me antibiotics. It went away for a few days but then came back. My symptoms were running nose, nasal drainage down my throat filling my lungs with gunk, and subsequent cough. After 3 more trips to my family Dr. and three more, and different antibiotics, I demanded something was wrong and I'm not taking any more antibiotics. I went to see an ENT and he said it was my deviated septum causing the problems.
Avatar f tn Ive thought that i have develped asthma for a few weeks now because ive been extremely short of breath and had a tight chest. I also notice that it gets worse around my cat or smoke. Also, apprantly my dr agreed because he prescribed me an inhaler.
Avatar f tn I would like to ask if the ipratropium inhaler is available with the combination of salbutamol and what brand?
Avatar m tn Good sources of magnesium include pumpkin seeds, barley, buckwheat flour, nuts, beans, seeds, fish, and spinach. Magnesium is known as nature’s muscle-relaxing agent. In asthma, the smooth muscles around the airways can become hyper-reactive. The prescription medications Singulair, Advair, and Serevent all work, in part, by dilating the smooth muscles around the airways. However, all of these medications are associated with a host of serious side effects.
Avatar n tn There's a difference between "exercise induced asthma" (EIA) and asthma. I know, I'm a college wrestler and I have both. And yes, I was prescribed albuterol as a prevention medicine before every practice and every match. If you read the prescribing info for albuterol, you'll see very clearly that it is both a rescue medicine AND a preventative treatment for EIA.
Avatar n tn Sorry, I was called away. Both the ipratropium of Duoneb and Spiriva are forms of atropine and my doctor thinks that taking both is overkill. As to the tightness in your chest, because of the overuse of Duoneb your lungs are probably extremely dry and you may be forming thick sticky mucus. So you really should, not only cut down on the Duoneb, but also get yourself an expectorant. I use over-the-counter guaifenesin. I get plain quaifenesin, not Mucinex.
Avatar f tn Went thru the 201 allergy reaction tests and am allergic to nothing. After a year finally tracked the hives down. My asthma inhaler Combivent was causing the hives. I have no problem with albuterol; it was the ipratropium bromide in Combivent causing the hives. I now stay away from any inhaler (like Spiriva) containing similar bromide components. Also check meds you take for sulphur. I can tell a new med contains sulphur when my hands itch like crazy from hives.
733681 tn?1231811440 about 3 mths ago, I was hand spreading straw for a newly sewn lawn and had a little asthma flare up. I did the normal drill used the inhaler and seemed to get a little better. woke up the next morning needed the inhaler and several time that day and the days after that. The inhaler seemed to quit having an effect on me. Scared me pretty bad. I have a nebulizer and used it also with albuterol sulfate with some relief, but ended up going to the ER. I have a fairly severe peanut allergy.
Avatar f tn s what i usually do when i catch a flu and my asthma flares up. and usually my asthma and cough would go away for about a few days. but i noticed after a week of taking cough syrup w/ salbutamol that my coughing is not getting better. so i went to visit my doctor after a few days and by then i was on my second week with cough. she told me that i should focus on treating my asthma so i nebulized on that visit and prescribed me a inhaler. i felt the relief but my cough and breathing is still bad.
Avatar f tn Medications such as asthalin, trebutaline, steroids, ipratropium bromide, and chromolyn sodium can be tried. Please consult a doctor immediately. Take care!

Special masks are available in the market to take care of dust and pollens. HEPPA filters can be installed at home to take care of the allergens.
Avatar f tn Hi, I did a search for interactions between Duolin (salbutamol/ipratropium bromide) and doxyfyline and didn't find anything, but a doctor would definitely be better equipped to answer your question. If your symptoms aren't getting any better, despite using the medication, you should definitely talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn This is similar to what happened with my "Asthma". Started bad and was diagnosed and given advair - worked like a charm and was awesome. Then had a bad asthma spell because of my work (a pet store) moving and we had 25 years of dirt, fur and dust moving around the store as the shelvings were been moved plus a lot of cleaner fumes.
