Imatinib steady state

Common Questions and Answers about Imatinib steady state

Avatar n tn Are you currently on any medication like imatinib? The neutropenia can be due to your current medication. You can ask your hematologist for G-CSF injection if you have persistent neutropenia. Patients with CML are immunocompromised and can easily acquire infections. Neutropenia also puts a patient in an immunocompromised state. For now, it is very important to prevent acquiring any infection. You should avoid crowded places and persons with ongoing infection. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Eithne01, The treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) has changed significantly since the late 1990s, with the development and subsequent approval by the Food and Drug Administration of imatinib (in 2001), the first of a class of medications called tyrosine kinase inhibitors, which target the specific abnormality that causes CML. Before that time, patients were treated with other therapy, including interferon and bone marrow transplant, and had very poor outcomes.
Avatar n tn This question is mostly directed towards Ryan or anyone having knowledge. I have read quite a few of his posts stating that xanax doesn't reach steady state because it's too short acting. He may be right but I ran across product literature stating otherwise and need clarification. I am having a hard time switching from 10mg valium to 1mg xanax because I am experiencing valium withdrawals by the 2nd day so I pop one and am fine.
Avatar n tn It is possible that the white blood cell count would normalize after 2 weeks of taking Imatinib (Gleevec). Most responses to Imatinib are rapid since it targets the molecular pathogenetic event in CML. You may seek a second opinion if that will give you a peace of mind. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am new to this forum and have seen many questions pertaining to Hydrea and their loss of hair. Most of these questions were listed under Prostate Cancer. I too do not have prostate cancer but, was diagnosed with polycythemia vera and am taking Hydroxyurea as a long lifetime treatment. I also have a significant amount of hairloss. Is there anything we can do to save our hair? I also would like to impose the question of prognosis for polycythemia vera.
1004138 tn?1316251113 lots of people die all the time because they reject traditional treatments and go with 'natural' things instead I would think of using alternatives along with regular treatments, but not in place of them. Some alternative things might have some benefit. Isn't homeopathy the approach where you dilute some substance down to one part per billion or so, and then expect it to actually have some curing power?
Avatar n tn Hi. Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) is a blood disorder caused by an acquired genetic defect in the pleripotent stem cell. It has several phases: indolent chronic or stable phase, aggressive or advanced phase, and accelerated and blastic phase. The transition between phases may take years (on the average, 4 to 6 years from the stable phase to aggressive phase).
Avatar m tn From what I've read, 6-7 hours is the half life in most people. From http://www.opioids.com/tramadol/prescribe.html "The plasma half-life of tramadol following a single and multiple dosing was 6 and 7 hours, respectively. This increase in half-life upon multiple dosing is not considered to be clinically significant or to warrant dosage adjustment for chronic use." I've also read that 5x the half life takes you to a level that's deemed insignificant.
Avatar f tn I am literally in a state of confusion. Here's my story..about four years ago I had a severe veritigo attack..had mri and other tests. Diagnosed months later with Meneire's. 1021784 tn?1306363011 d like to know is it possible to take Ativan 1mg in the morning and 2mg at bedtime, and be able to build up a steady state over time?
429647 tn?1249753429 My Ca 125 is holding steady at 8. range. I have been there since I finished chemo May of last year. My white count is finally back up in the norm range. I have a new Oncologist since mine retired. This young man seemed very knowledgeable and had a good bed-side. He wants to do a Ca 125 in two months and again at 4 months with a CT scan at that time. I am thinking about having a Ca 125 drawn every three months for the rest of my life. I think I would be comfortable with that.

Avatar f tn Klonopin needs to build up to a steady state in your body before it really becomes effective. Dosing twice a day is common. I think you should give it more time to get to this steady state. 0.25 mg is a low dose of klonpin so you should discuss with your prescribing doctor your nauseous feeling when taking it. I take 1 mg every night to sleep and I never wake up feeling nauseous.
Avatar m tn You just summed up pretty much the entire gist of what I would like to have written for myself, but can't get out as clearly and succinctly as you just did! Hard to imagine how you wrote so well in your unbelievably difficult and challenging physical (and mental) state -- I'm in AWE of you!! I've been a closet addict for ALMOST ALL my adult life -- I'm a 51 year old woman.
5154541 tn?1366808691 I found it is best to take the medication in the morning. You should see good results in another 3 weeks or so. The medication builds up a steady state in your body over time.

Avatar f tn thanks for the responses, yeah my moods are usually steady or i get very agitated, never good mania, unless it is drug induced.
Avatar f tn Im 22weeks & 1 day is normal to gain a pound a day. Like ive gained already 24 pounds & honestly its like i steady keep eatting alll day , i drink water .. My hands & feet swell anybody else going thru this.
Avatar f tn It is a double dosage so you will hopefully see some benefits. Just remember that it does take a good 4 to 6 weeks before you have that steady state of medication in your system so if you don't get results for a while, don't give in. I doubled my dose of Wellbutrin and had to wait for the steady state as well. Does the therapist teach you cognitive behavioral therapy?
Avatar m tn s full absorbion in a steady state until 9 to 10 wks of taking, in order to get the full potential of the 35% increase you would have to eat 26.9 grams of fat with each dose for that period. I agree with eating with the riba and not worring about counting the fat grams that has been my whole point all along.
