408795 tn?1324935675 No question here, hell how could I top jackie mason and his HepC transmission by tire story? I started my Boceprevir trial today, got 3 Riba and my first shot. No sx's so far, but you never know, it was just around 3:00 or 2 hours ago. Maybe it will be a smile now, cry later reaction. lol Anyways, I just wanted to let all my friends know that I took the plunge, I better get to drinking some water, just to be safe.

Avatar f tn Its been a couple years since I have been here. I did a trial in 2013 with someone that was dosing based on tsh and I eventually gave up. Now looking back I have discovered that I probably was not absorbing the medication. I also know that supplementing with iodine likely sabotaged any progress I was making since is causes tsh to rise in addition to tanking my iron. These are my observations based on the last two years of monthly labwork.
Avatar m tn Most trial exclude post-transplant patients. The only trial that would be conducted would be through transplant centers Have you spoken to your transplant center? They would know about any clinical trials that they will be conducting that you would qualify for. You will need to be under the care of a transplant center if you should make any changes to the drugs you are taking.
Avatar m tn You can get the trial number from the informed consent and maybe send out a message to see who is in the same trial. I was in a trial with IFN, RBV, GS9451 and GS5885. Had to drop after 12 weeks due to viral load going back up as a result of resistance. This was my second attempt at tx - was a non responder the first time. Good luck and hope that you get UND and SVR.

Avatar n tn Hi, Yes that is the one!. They are taking four subjects from this office for the study. Yes, Giddyup is a 1a. Our only hesitation this time (he did the infergen trial for Intermune) is starting the whole combo therapy again , been there done that twice already, and he was exhausted just on mainentance for a year and a half... we have about a week to decide. but they drew bloods yesterday to be sure he qualifies, and the nurse said this moring that his platelets were good...
Avatar m tn I have had an unprotected intercourse with someone who is a participant in an HIV vaccination trial at Walter Reed. What exactly is that study as I am having a hard time finding info on it. Do they use surface antigens? Am I at any risk? Any info will be appreciated. Sincerely, Ivan.
Avatar m tn Also vertex said trials would start in April, how will any new sites that are added get set up and screen patients that fast to start the trial this month? Nothing moves fast with drug companies or the FDA. Thank the Lord that HCV is a slow moving disease for the most part.
187666 tn?1331173345 A friend of mine is finished with her chemo but is trying to enroll in a special trial in Buffalo, NY. Somehow they give her a single chemo drug plus this other stuff that targets just the cancer cells and kills them. Wish I had more information on it. The thing is she would have to fly to Buffalo for 4 days each month for 4 months to receive the treatment. But she's excited about it, just not sure of the details or timing yet. Anyone know about this?
Avatar m tn I know there are around 1000 people in the phase III trial but was wondering how it is broken down to how many in each of the 3 arms. I specifically wanted to find out what % will be in the placebo arm and if I enter the study what chance i would have of getting Telaprevir. I seem to recall reading this breakdown or maybe it was on the last Vertex webcast? if someone could post a link that has the breakdown of arms it would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn I am trying to do some research on this trial, but not able to find very much. Is any one famaliar with this trial and if so could you give me some information.
Avatar m tn Pending results from the Phase 1a trial, Vertex expects to initiate in mid-2008 a Phase 1b trial of VX-500 in HCV patients. Nothing here that appears to have blockbuster potential as yet…with the potential exception of VX-500, which is their follow-on HCV protease inhibitor drug, currently in pre-human testing. Ideally this would be ready to take over from telaprevir—with better efficacy and milder AEs—around 2013 or so. http://caps.fool.com/Ticker/VRTX.
214248 tn?1295903731 She did topetecan on her 1st recurrence and had a longer remission from it than her first line chemo. ( 1 year) What would the people in the trial get that do not get the trial drug , and is this a phase 1 ,2, or 3 trial? I would not want to risk not getting a remission when there are still other drugs for you to try first .It is a hard decison, I know, I would like to have a guarantee something would work. My dr.
Avatar f tn I have started a trial of 25 mcg of levo and getting ready to do my 6 week check up. I emailed the endo to ensure that my free t3 was going to be included in those labs. She said it was not needed unless I was pregnant and total t3 would be sufficient. Tell me what is the freakin problem getting a simple ft3 blood test? I had to pull teeth to get my GP to get the lab for me in the first place. My total t3 was in range but my free t3 was not.
