Avatar f tn Osteoporosis medications like Raloxifene (Evista), alendronate (Fosomax), risendronate (Actonel) and ibandronate (Boniva) all can cause flu like symptoms in individuals that are taking them. I am not sure what medications you are on, but this could be your problem.

1082450 tn?1256562771 A little history about me. I have been an Oncology Nurses, since 2004, I work on a Surgical Oncology Unit. I have worked closly with GYN/ONC, Dr. Jimmy Orr and Dr. Edward Grendys for the past 9 years and absorbing as much as I can from them. I have learned so much from working closly with them. I have been there to hold my patients hands from their first surgery, through their chemo, into remission or losing their battle. I have tried to be as compassionate and strong as I can.
Avatar f tn Here's my update. MD Anderson was supposed to call me within 2 business days. They never called, so I called them yesterday & today. They seemed really unorganized. And in the end, she said they only take patients with definitive diagnosis for carcinoid and it has to be thru biopsy. I guess they missed the whole point as to why I wanted to go there. Then I called Mayo this morning and spoke to a girl there.
Avatar m tn We here, especially over the internet do not have the capabilities to deal with such complicated concerns. If you and your Brother are not happy with the advice of your Oncology Team then you could seek a second opinion. I doubt at this stage of disease you would find any additional advice or recommendation. I believe there is also a Chemo or Oncology Community or Forum on the website where you might also post.
Avatar f tn I also told her that most uterine polyps are not cancer and are pretty common and that even one of the gynecology nurses there told me this, and so did the oncology nurse at the Fox Chase Cancer Center, but of course they also said that the only way to know 100% is if they are removed. So Dr.
Avatar n tn This to my knowledge is not a side effect of this type of drug. You might discuss it with your Oncology Team at your next appointment. I would doubt that a side effect would appear after months of administration. As a rule side effects appear during the first few weeks and often subside after a few months. This may be due to something entirely unrelated to your Cancer situation so you might take it up with your Primary care Physician. Regards .....
Avatar n tn I have Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Multifocal Breast Cancer Before a mammogram revealed my tumor I thought of myself as a healthy, active, 80 year old woman. My oncology surgeon knows that I believe in quality of life and don't want to live my last years, or months, in a debilitating state battling cancer. He also knows that 15 years ago I had invasive ductal cancer in my other breast and had a mastectomy. My lymph nodes were clear. I didn't have chemo, radiation or hormonal therapy.
Avatar f tn Hi, Partial breast radiation (of which MammoSite is one brand) is increasing in popularity, but it is more expensive, and according to a 2010 article in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, there has not been definitve reasearch showing that it is as effective as whole-breast radiation treatments. Here is an excerpt: Although the idea is promising, Sher said, there aren't any large studies that have compared whole-breast radiation to this treatment.
Avatar f tn After finding a cold nodule on my right thyroid, I had a biopsy and it came back negative for cancer cells. I chose to have a lobectomy, anyway. An oncology surgeon performed the right lobectomy and said that after surgery his preliminary report was that it "looked very benign" to him. Now, it's one week from surgery and I got a call that my oncology surgeon wants to see me in his office first thing in the morning....
329994 tn?1301663248 My sister-in-law who is an oncology nurse at Siteman in St. Louis has high praise for the oncology staff at Anderson. I will add her to my list of people I pray for and send energy to....
Avatar f tn Hi: Could you be a little more specific. Leukemia comes in different forms. I have what they call Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, and mine was found through a routine blood test which showed a high white blood count. That is usually how they find it, because in most cases there are no symptoms. You said your seeing a Oncologist, but from what you are posting it does not make much sense to me. If there is some sort of a metatastic cancer why would he wait 6 months.
Avatar f tn Your untoward effects will have to be weighed against the risks of stopping the medication and this would be after a face to face discussion between you and your Oncology Team. Hang in there until your next session with your Oncologist .... Kindest regards ....
Avatar f tn These would be recommended by the radiation oncology staff. Regarding creams to fade darkening, the radiation oncology staff may be best equipped to make a recommendation regarding whether any of these remedies may be helpful or whether you would be wasting your money. I am not aware of any supplements being used for this purpose. You should discuss the breast reconstruction (fat implants) issues with a breast reconstruction plastic surgeon.

Avatar m tn She is concerned that the THC will show up in her oncology lab blood work. Does anyone know the answer? Please Help!
314692 tn?1214080510 I have been told by my plastic surgeon that this would not be a problem, because any problems that MAY arise due to rads could be fixed. I was also told by my (2nd opinion) breast oncology surgeon that rads dont ALWAYS jack up the implant. However my oncology surgeon is VERY against immediate recon when rads are involved. He thinks I should wait up to a year. I REALLY want immediate recon because I am only 41 and waiting up to 12mos is not something I want to do.
