Hyzaar with hctz

Common Questions and Answers about Hyzaar with hctz

cozaar

Avatar n tn Losartan alone, also known as Cozaar does not have a diuretic. But Losartan with HCTZ is also known as Hyzaar. Don't assume yours has the diuretic in it. Ask the pharmacist.
Avatar f tn I have been told that it is hereditary and there is nothing I can do to stop it. I am on metoprolol tartare 25 mg. and hyzaar 100/25, both taken 1 qd. hyzaar in am and meto... in pm. We are talking that within 2 years I will have a valve replacement (when it reaches 5.0 cm). Is there anything I can do to stop the progression?
Avatar f tn My doctor recently switched me from Lotrel to Valturna for my high blood pressure, however, it's not working for me. In fact my BP went from 138/88 to 160/100 while taking Valturna. I asked my doctor to add HCT, however, because I developed a rash from taking a sulfa antiobiotic 10 years ago, he doesn't want to take the chance. So he put me back on Lotrel along with the Valturna. He said as my BP comes down, he'll adjust the meds.
Avatar n tn Hi, hydrochlorothiazide can sometimes cause nausea and vomiting and also abdominal pain. Check to see if you are having acid reflux which is causing your chest pain. If your symptoms worsen with bending down, it could be acid reflux. Also, have your blood pressures checked, hypotension can cause symptoms of chest pain. Regards.
222369 tn?1274474635 ve gone from 280 to 248 or so. My high blood pressure was under control at the 280 lb mark by way of Hyzaar 100-25. My blood pressure is now in the low range (averaging 108/58). At what point in my weight loss (goal of 220 or lower) would you think I'd need to have my BP meds changed (if at all). I just thought a member here may have already gone through this and would have some advice. Thanks in advance!!

Avatar m tn I have been on cozaar for 15 years. 4 years ago I was also placed on HCTZ, due to increasing BP. 7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100.
Avatar f tn I had a problem before with Potassium loss from HCTZ. I was taken off of it when I went to the emergency ward, for certain symptons. My pressure is fine now unless Im in a Dr.s office. .... Now I take Fosinopril 40 and Verapamil 80 twice a day which is working perfectly.. The last docter wanted to try me on HCTZ once more telling me to drink alot of orange juice. After a month of taking it he realized I dont need them. My pressure goes up with anxiety of docters.
Avatar f tn I've been lactating and wasn't sure if I was pregnant. My doctor did a blood test to see if I was and also did a hormone test to see why I was lactating if by chance I wasn't pregnant. Also at that visit she put me on hctz because I've been retaining water and wanted me to take it every other day. She called yesterday morning to let me know that I am in fact pregnant, this was after I had just taken the hctz. She of course toldme not to take it anymore..
Avatar f tn Went to Doctor on Wednesday. I've been lactating and suspect pregnancy but maybe not. Dr. put me on HCTZ for fluid retention cause I've gained 20 lbs since January and also did lab work to see if pregnant and check my hormones to see if I'm not pregnant why I would be lactating. Got a call Friday- she said I'm pregnant- stop taking HCTZ. I had already made an appointment with my other Dr.
Avatar f tn HCTZ is a common and relatively safe and inexpensive medication that doe not cause angle closure glaucoma. Since you are having new symptoms I suggest you see an Eye MD ophthalmologist for an exam and evaluation.
Avatar n tn Even though I was taking Lopressor, I had several instances where my heart went crazy and the beat shot up to 128-146. I was taken back off HCTZ and it is out my system but I am left with a worse heart rate in the sense that I am taking more drugs to keep my heart rate down. I have a rapid heart rate, low-normal blood pressure and arrythmias. I am currently taking Acebutuol but it is not working well for the rapid heart rate.
Avatar f tn On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat. I don't have sweat pouring down my face and into my eyes as much as I did, and my clothes don't become as wet.
Avatar f tn I was on Lisinopril for kidneys too but it made me cough too much so my doctor switched me to Hyzaar.
Avatar m tn Exercise (aerobic) can help the heart increase heart contractions. Does your stress test report indicate hypokinesis (heart muscle impairment)? Is your ejection fraction (EF) between 50 and 70%...that calculation is the amount in percentage of blood pumped out of the left ventricle with each heartbeat? Is your left ventricle enlarged? Those readings would indicate degree of any lost contractility, and whether or not there should be treatment and another cardiologist's analysis.
Avatar n tn I thought this medication lowers the blood pressure and has nothing to do with the heartrate. Anyone has experience with Lisinopril / HCTZ ? Thanks.
Avatar m tn I always had the same problem so I tried lean spa with the detox that comes with it and colothin colon-cleanse. It worked with out exercising the first week I lost 5 lbs with exercise it doubles. they give you trail offers first. so for under $5.00 you are able to try them both if don't like you cancel after 14 days. I have been struggling for 20years. exercise and trying everything, and this is the first thing I have seen any difference.
765775 tn?1366024691 This does not totally relieve my pain but makes it bearable. I do not crush or sniff or whatever some do with these drugs. I take them as directed. I am worried about withdrawls if and when I don't need the medication anymore. I am concerned because I also have high blood pressure and take Cardizem CD, Hyzaar, and Xanax .5 (2) times daily for the blood pressure condition.
Avatar m tn Hey everyone thanks in advance for those of you that are reading this it Is greatly appreciated of any feed back. First of I'm 22 years of age, male about 6'2 kinda muscular 228 pounds, and pretty active. I've been diagnosed with hypertension and was put on losartan 50mg/hctz 12.5mg by my cardiologist when my blood pressure was running about 150-160/80-90 consistantly about 2 months ago.
Avatar m tn It is a combination of Valsartan and the same diuretic as Hyzaar. It is essentially the same as Hyzaar which contains a combination of hydrochlorothiazide and losartan. Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic (water pill) that helps prevent your body from absorbing too much salt, which can cause fluid retention. Losartan is also in a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists.
Avatar m tn I have mentioned this problem to my doctor but he just scratches his head. Its hard to get them to do much with my heart disease because surgery has been ruled out. I guess thats about all they know how to do. Anyhow I have also been diagnosed with sleep apnea and have a new machine for that... I wake up choking from it... it does not let me exhale properly. They gave me a new one .... a bipap... same problem. I wake up with numb hands alot sometimes up my arms too.
Avatar m tn I take 25 mg of Hydrochlorithiazide. Would there be anything wrong with taking Cayenne 455 mg as well? Cayenne is supposed to normalize blood pressure.
Avatar n tn Lisinopril doesn't have a diuretic in it unless it is the combination lisinopril-hctz
Avatar f tn They said it is probably a viral infection. That is what they blame when they cannot come up with an answer. I decided to stop the HCTZ 3days ago......Hives are now gone.
