Avatar n tn I am having the same issue too. I posted today and noticed your post. I can't lose weight and only gaining and gaining fast. I joined kick boxing etc and I am so upset about this. Can it be hormonal?
1089270 tn?1257174234 I have joined Curves and have been feeling better. I am bound and determined to get this weight off. I use to weigh 140 and now I weigh 179. I know it will take some time to remove this weight, but I know I can do it! One day at a time.
Avatar f tn Hi. I need input badly please. I am 40 yrs old and had a laparoscopic hysterectomy done in April 2014. I had a right ovary removal, cervix removal and replaced with a cuff and extra scar tissue removed from my past csections. I still have my left ovary that sometimes produces cysts still. Since my surgery I have put on at least 20 lbs. I am taking hard core kick boxing and eating way better than I was and can't seem to lose anything, I just keep gaining. :( its so depressing.
Avatar n tn I am in the process of having my cortisol levels checked but the doctor does not feel it necessary to check female hormone levels. I have had a complete hysterectomy 18 years ago and have never taken HRT. At this point the hair on the crown of my head is thinning and I have an extra 20 pounds that will no go away. I eat a very excellent diet with minimal carbs and good carbs if I choose to eat them. I exercise 3 days per week at a local gym for one hour each day. HELP!!!! What can I do?
973741 tn?1342342773 Thank you so much for this answer. It is a sudden situation but maybe not so and I just didn't notice. I am hoping that weight loss, kegel exercises and pelvic floor strengthening would help? Thoughts on that?
Avatar f tn If you had a complete hysterectomy (both ovaries removed), menopause was imminent at the time of your hysterectomy and you are now post-menopausal. As we get older, we need less of the estrogen and progesterone. Have you had a thyroid ultrasound to determine if you have swelling/inflammation or nodules on your thyroid? While both, your FT3 and FT4 are "in range", they could stand to be a bit higher in the ranges.
3046028 tn?1340538562 I had a hysterectomy last fall and now is wondering if this is impairing my ability to loose weight. Any weight loss advice would be so appreciate! Thank you!
Avatar f tn I have just my right ovaries and fall. tube. I have gained alot of weight and I dont know if I should consult my OB doctor or an Endo ( I have half of a thyroid ). I had to have a hysterectomy because of a cyst that had infection all around it. Shortly after I thought I was all swollen from that, they went threw holes in the stomach instead of cutting me. I thought I would go down to size of where I was before the surgery but needless to say I never went down, I kept gaining.
Avatar f tn what can I do about this weight gain I getting to old and right now overweight due to this weight gain. I exercise, eat right but continue to gain a pound-two pounds a month. My health is declining due to the weight gain. What can I do???
Avatar f tn They have likely atrophied due to your hysterectomy and loss of blood flow and feedback loop with the uterus. The ovaries naturally shrink after menopause but they continue to produce hormones at least until age 80 in women who have all their parts. These hormones are essential to every aspect of health. Do a web search for "pubmed bilateral oophorectomy long term health" to understand the many repercussions / adverse effects of having ovaries (part of the endocrine system) removed.
Avatar f tn Since their loss, I have constant depression and swings between despair and hyper energy, unable to sleep, bad dreams, feeling okay then back in to the abyss of mental pain and joint pain, ankle and shoulder pains, osteoporosis and weight gain. My hair has grown rough and I my skin is getting age spots and wringling. I use progesterone creme twice a day and estridiol. I feel that my surgeon killed me. He just did it slowly and I will eventually die from the results of this surgery....
Avatar n tn t know about the low cortisol, but after my hysterectomy I had facial hair, weight gain in the abdomen and thighs and my breasts shrunk. Don't know why yet. Go to www.***********.com Lorna V. has the best information I've come across yet. If she is doing a seminar in your area, go to it...she's quite knowledgeable as she has gone through more hormonal troubles than most.
Avatar f tn It can be very easy to blame the weight gain on the hysterectomy but hysterectomies do not cause weight gain by themselves and thats a very true fact! If u have heard that they do well thats just a myth!! Look it up and do your research! Dont let the fear of gaining weight stop you from having a surgery that could change your way of life tremendously or it could even save your life!! Most women are very happy they had their hysterectomies.
Avatar f tn Have you seen your doctor to make sure that you have healed up well enough after surgery to start an exercise program? Lots of times people gain weight after surgery because they are less mobile and more sedentary. It's time to get moving! Talk to your doctor, get off the weight loss supplements, and start concentrating on diet and exercise! Good luck!

Avatar n tn I had a radical hysterectomy done 9 years ago. Since that time I have gained weight that I cannot lose, my cholesteral level has risen to a danger zone and now take medication also B12 injections. I suffer from fatigue, memory loss, cold sensitivety and other problems. I recently had a FSH test done and was told the levels indicate I am still producing estrogen.
Avatar f tn 5cm but the doctor does not want to remove it cause of my weight. I am over weight. My husband and I have two great girls and do not want to have anymore. It gives me pain in my legs and the lower abdomen to the point that all I want to do is cry it hurts some of the time. What should I do?
Avatar f tn However for this you need to consult your Doctor. Also a healthy diet and regular exercise will help keep weight in control and also help with the tiredness. Supplements of multi-vitamins can be taken. Hope this helps. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar f tn PVH-Partial Vaginal Hysterectomy, even abdominal procedure, still the risk factors and complications remain more or less the same. Post surgical complications are pain, bleeding, infection.Other side effects of surgery are Hormonal changes (preserved ovaries?) estrogen imbalance, decreased testosterone-finally emotional changes of mood swings-Increased risk of cardiovascular and skeletomuscular diseases.
5628691 tn?1402506562 Thanks Barb, I have talked with my doctor. In fact, I had a complete check-up this past week. My thyroid is normal, my total cholesterol was slightly elevated (230), but my "good cholesterol" was excellent. I had a complete hysterectomy 3 years ago so I do take a hormone replacement. My blood sugar was perfect as well as my blood pressure. I do take a small dose blood pressure med, a fluid pill, a hormone, and a medication (Dexilant) for acid reflux, which I have really bad!.....
Avatar f tn Hello, Weight gain is common after hysterectomy. Take a healthy, balanced and nutritious diet consisting more of fruits, salads, soups and raw vegetables (after proper washing). Also increase the protein content in your diet instead of carbohydrates and fats. also continue doing physical exercises as they are the key to lose weight. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn I had a total hystrectomy at 30, now 43 I am going thru Menopause, I have already gained weight in my belly and hormones are crazy, now my doctor wants to put me on Estradiol, will it make me gain more weight?
Avatar f tn I posted a question on 10-22-07 asking for a opinion as to whether or not you all think I should take tamoxfin. I explained that I first took chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, then had surgery(total mastectomy) and radiation therapy. The removal of my lymph nodes under my arm showed no signs of cancer in them. As of today, I am cancer free.(?????) My doctor wants me to take tamoxifen for 5 years.
