1165078 tn?1338655745 I've been on Keppra for over 3 yrs now, other than gain weight as soon as I was put on the drug, I've had numerous UTI's and kidney infec. as well as Kidney stones, I reduced my dosage by half (1000mg/day down to 500mg/day) over a period of 4 months last yr, still szr free, and blood levels come back with in therapeutic range (something my Neuro can't quite explain yet isn't making me go back up to the 1000mg/day). But I'm having more kidney issues.. am I alone on this?
1900997 tn?1321659956 Well, you are 11 years older, so some changes to your heart in relationship to the Citalopram may have occurred. In addition, other medications, OTC and Prescriptions, supplements, etc. should be considered. Here's an article that gives a balanced view of your concern, though not predicating it on long term use of Citalopram. If you note in the article, concerns of the elderly are expressed concerning QTc prolongation in relation to dose and age.
Avatar m tn m on lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide and propanalol. I have sudden onset of fatigue with nausea and dizziness so I'm now taking promethazone. I'm also taking a low dosage (2mg) of steroids (dexamethasone). I have terrible memory problems and my brain is like a slug (I had an IQ of 143, but I think I've lost it). My biggest question, is what in the heck is a lymphoepithelial tangle and is it related to lymphoma?
Avatar n tn Hi Dr, I am a 27 year old male with a history of both athleticism and sedentary lifestyle (professional endurance athlete up to 21, and afterward, mostly sedentary after). I am 6'3", 220lb, with a BMI of 27.5 (overweight as per CDC website). Two years ago (age 25) I used a caffeine and ephedrine 'thermogenic' weight-loss drug for 6 weeks. As i recall, the dosage was apx 20mg ephedrine, 200mg caffeine. I did not intensify the dosage and have not used it since.
Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide (HTCZ) for high blood pressure since May 2007. Recently I have a feeling that the Hydrochlorothiazide is not working as it used to be. Will HCTZ lose its effectiveness after a certain number of years? Anyone know the answer or having similar experience, please let me know. Thank You In Advance For Your Reply.
Avatar m tn I AM TAKING HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 25MG. I HAVE BEEN TAKEN THEM FOR 3 YRS NOW. THIS MEDICATION JUST STOP WORKING. MY DOCTOR WANTS TO ADD ANOTHER MEDICATION FOR ME TO TAKE. DOES THIS EVER GET BETTER. STAYS THE SAME OR DO THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKE ALWAYS GET ADJUSTED. UNTIL YOU ARE TAKEN 10 DIFFERENT MEDICATION. This discussion is related to blood presure medication.
Avatar f tn I'm presently on atenolol 40 mg (along with hydrochlorothiazide) once daily. I will be transitioning to propanolol 20 mg (and hydrochlorothiazide) twice daily soon - my doctor wants me to transition by taking propanolol - 1/2 of 20 mg twice a day for one week and then the full 20 mg twice daily. Why? Won't that cause rebound hypertension? Thanks.
Avatar n tn My husband is only 38, he had a stroke last year he had a stent put in, now he is on plavix, atenolol, hydrochlorothiazide 25mg, last week his doc added niacin 500 mg, simvastatin 20, flexeril and tramadol, also his one aspirin each day, these are just so many meds, are they safe?
Avatar m tn Hello, I was having the numbness and tingling while taking hydrochlorothiazide. I would stop taking it and the numbness/tingle would go away, take it again, and it would come right back. Not sure if he is taking hydrochlorothiazide. They had me on it for edema. I have swelling in my hands and ankles, all tests neg except for CMV. Battling this since April 2008. Hands so swollen, can't open bottles, hold a pen, hold a phone or peel the label off the top of yogurts..ect..
Avatar f tn I am so confused because I have too many issues that can cause the same symptoms. Recently, my doctor switched me from Valsartan HCTZ to Hydrochlorothiazide plus regular Valsartan for my blood pressure. When I first started it, right away I was having rapid heart beat and shortness of breath so he told me take potassium supplements. That did help but now I am wondering if I am taking too much potassium.
Avatar n tn However, this could also be due to some medications such as the combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide that is used to treat high blood pressure. Lisinopril is in a group of drugs called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) while Hydrochlorothiazide is in a class of diuretics. Tingling in the hands and feet along with dizziness, headache and cough are some of the effects that are observed in this drug combination.
1668318 tn?1306416764 Hi weighing yourself and getting on a diuretic is not testing you. Did she run tests? Do you know??
Avatar m tn d ask (strongly) that the doctor adjust the dosage of Furosemide to a more tolerable level for your body and then monitor the results. I was in the hospital twice with impaired breathing. Both times five pounds of fluid was drained. A NURSE (not a doctor) told me to take in less fluids in the course of a day to prevent future fluid build-up. I have complained on a couple of occasions that I feel the hydrochlorothiazide (for HBP and water retention) is not doing the job.
Avatar f tn After i had my youngest son, the dr phoned in some meds once i was home from the hospital and he had the dosage wrong too. The pharmacist had a sticky note on the bag and bottle and told me not to take as much as the lable said to because it could damage the liver. Just be careful and dont take as much as the bottle says to. Youre supposed to keep your aceto intake below 4,000 mg at the max for a 24 hr period.
Avatar n tn The study you reference concerns me in that is was for only 3 months. These medications are usually prescribed for long-term treatment. To my recent horror my triglycerides had leaped to nearly 300. Reviewing my historic levels, I saw two specific time when my Tri levels 'doubled'. This was following the doubling of my propranolol dosage, however not as an immediate effect.
Avatar n tn Counseling to reduce stress and lifestyle modifications such as dietary changes to minimize caffeine and alcohol intake are recommended. Restriction of sodium and monosodium glutamate intake has been associated with a reduction in vertigo attacks, by physiologically acting to decrease pressures in the hydropic ear. Recommended daily intake of sodium for adults should not exceed 2300 mg.
369994 tn?1225733799 I have had hives now for about two months. It all started with BP medications. I was on Hydrochlorothiazide about 4-5 months and it was working to keep my blood pressure down and then all of a sudden started breaking out in red raised welts. I went to dermatologist and he said it was a reaction to the hydrochlorothiazide and to stop taking it. I stopped and within two days it started to clear up. My primary care doctor then put me on Bisoprolol and I started getting hives 100 times worse!
