Avatar m tn Could it cause vision problems, I have seen that the main ingredient of restylane is Hyaluronic acid, I have found a topical cream that is 75% hyaluronic acid, I know this wont work as well but do you think this is an option or not even worth spending hte money on the cream. Any comments or experiences would be great.
Avatar m tn No better or worse. Exercise, diet, Cordisone and Hyaluronic injections acid, rubs, creams, fat stem cell shots...Knee ex-rays show I do have medial bone on bone in knees and osteoarthritis (OA). I felt a bit like I had a brain fog so I got checked out for that. One test after another. MRIs and auto immune test. inconclusive but what lead to further test was something in my blood told doctors I could have an auto immune but not which one. Doctors also said my B12 and D6 were way low.

Avatar m tn Because you are asking about hyaluronic acid, and because of the recent addition of GAG's to pharmacy shelves, I think it's important to address a few points about the uses of these compounds therapeutically. On the up side, hyaluronic acid is the same from whatever source it is isolated, and it is so common in the body that it can be used as a hypoallergenic surgical material for reconstructing and building up tissues that are lost.
Avatar m tn 1. Several physicians have propose hyaluronic acid or cortisone injections. Which is recommended? 2. One physician offered to perform a chondral transplant, consisting in taking fresh chartilage from my knee and implanting it in the toe, with arthroscopic surgery. Would you recommend it? What is the likelihood of success and the possible complications?
Avatar f tn Please add Omega 3 Fatty acids at a dose of 250 mg twice daily. Adequan and hyaluronic acid injections will also help. Other natural remedies: Dog Gone Pain, Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, Prolotherapy, Stem Cell Therapy, Chinese Herbal Formulas: Benefits Hips and Knees, Di Gu Pi, Loranthus Combination and more. Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatories, such as Rimadyl, or Previcox or equivalent, and Tramadol are helpful in conjunction with holistic therapies.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. EUFLEXXA is a high purity hyaluronan, also called hyaluronic acid (HA) or sodium hyaluronate. HA is the natural substance found in the fluid that surrounds a healthy knee joint and helps cushion, lubricate, and protect the knee as you move throughout the day. You should not receive treatment with EUFLEXXA if you have: A known allergy to hyaluronate preparations, or knee joint infections, infections or skin disease in the area of the injection site.
Avatar f tn Greetings, This post may be to late to be of benefit but for several years I have benefited from Hyaluronic acid (Synvisc, Hyalgan, Orthovisc) injections into the base of my thumbs (Basal thumb arthritis). Typically, I need injections every 6 to 8 months. Sometimes sooner and once in a while one or the other thumb will not require treatment for twelve months or longer.
Avatar f tn Alternative treatment with the food supplements glucosamine and chondroitin could not relieve symptoms of pain and stiffness for you so a series of injections of hyaluronic acid (Synvisc, Hyalgan) into the joint can sometimes be helpful, especially if surgery is not being considered. Surgery is generally reserved for those patients with osteoarthritis that is particularly severe and unresponsive to the conservative treatments. Total knee replacement is for the final treatment.
Avatar m tn Hello, I am 46 yrs old, male, ex-athlete (competitive level basketball) and live in London, England. A year ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis on my left hip during an arthroscopy and most of the joint cartilage is worn out. Take glucosamine tablets regularly. Even though my condition is not so advanced to take painkillers etc, I cannot do any sport, which is important to me (even at a light, amateur level) and walking start bothering me after a few hundered meters.
Avatar m tn MSM and Hyaluronic Acid are supposed to help rebuild cartilage. My daughter has connective tisssue disease and this is what she is taking to help... Hope this helps you, too. Dr. Stengler recommended these supplements.
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar n tn I'm virtually certain I don't have the rheumatoid(arthritis) One could develop/get it anytime(as I recall), & even osteo from rheumatoid, I suppose. I was diagnosed with osteo in '03 & show no egregious new symptoms which would suggest rheumatoid. If the opposite(were true), I'm certain my physician would've had me do the tests you recommend(ed) I know there's "no cure" for osteoarthritis, but inhibit acquiescing since I (appear to) have it.
Avatar f tn You might be talking about hyaluronic acid. That's what comes up in a google search. It is used to aid reduction of inflammation and as a joint lubricant. I used it for horses 20 years ago, and it was the successful use in sport horses that prompted its use in people. I think whether or not it's helpful depends on too many factors for anyone to advise you over the internet. Ask his doctor if hyaluronic acid will help.
Avatar n tn Juvederm is basically an injectible filler used by cosmetic, dermatological, and plastic surgeons to soften deep folds and reduce wrinkles in the faces of patients. It consists of hyaluronic acid which is found normally in muscles, skin and tendons of mammals. Although it has many side effects like redness, pain and tenderness during injections and swelling and bruising at the injection sites but all these are temporary side effects which go away in a few days.
Avatar f tn Hello, I went to the doctor to have a filler injected into the eyes dark circles area, the syringe with the gel (hyaluronic acid) was not new, I know because he took it out of a box but the blister was not sealed, I also saw that the gel in the syringe was not completely full, I saw that he took a needle with a cover from the blister, so I think the needle was new, and he placed it on the tip of the syringe with gel, I am worried that the gel (hyaluronic acid) has been contaminated with the bloo
Avatar f tn Depending on the joint, occasional steroid injections can help. I have osteoarthritis in my hips - too many years as a ballet dancer. :-/ It finally got bad enough last winter that I mentioned it to my pain doc. It worked great and didn't hurt too badly. The only drawback is that relief only lasts a few weeks, so I save the injections for winter when I'm nearly crippled.
Avatar m tn Can somebody from the old school on this hep.
Avatar m tn Magnesium is needed to relax muscles and for hyaluronic acid synthesis which is used to lubricate joints. Glad i know this because i'd be going through a zillion tests with no diagnosis. Give magnesium supplements a try. Could be the simple answer. :) Magnesium supplements, - to avoid,- how to take it and -safety: http://www.medhelp.

Avatar n tn I'm taking Ameriden Olive Leaf Extract - 6 caps a day, I was instructed to take only this brand. Plus Glucosamine 1500mg 3 X a day and hyaluronic acid (cushions joint) 100mg 3X a day. It'a lot of pills but would rather do that than take drugs with bad side-effects (had really bad reaction to Celebrex). You can go to the website Arthritis Help For Me ******* for more info.
1069378 tn?1255215132 The MRI shows that my lateral meniscus is torn again and x-rays show I have osteoarthritis. One of the orthopedic surgeons I saw suggested trying Synvisc injections before resorting to surgery, especially since the surgery will involve removing the rest of my lateral meniscus which will in turn worsen the osteoarthritis. Before I went to any orthopedic surgeons, I was trying acupuncture (I've had 4 or 5 sessions already and they've helped with my stiffness and range of motion).
