I just started Humira (2 shots so far) and have had a worsening of symptoms since the first shot. My hands/feet have become swollen and my joints hurt more than before I started taking the Humira. I also have systemic vasculitis (Churg-Strauss Syndrome) and am on Cytoxan and Prednisone, but I have been taking both for more than a year and know the side-effects from each.

My husband missed his dose of Humira by 24 hours a week ago. He is now vomiting regularly like he did prior to his diagnosis. Is this normal with a missed dose? He has been on Humira since September.

statistically 1 out of every 2-3 of us has hsv1 and 1 out of every 4-5 has hsv2 - a lot of folks who take humira, are already going to have herpes whether they know it or not! Of course you also can contract herpes simplex, either orally or genitally, while taking humira too. It also can cause shingles to occur - you'd have to have had chicken pox in the past before starting humira in order to have a shingles reactivation.

i stopped the arava, took cholestyramine to get it out of my system. rash went away. still taking humira. no more rash, so that's good, but i'm not sure where these twitches are coming from. they started about three weeks ago. i'm so sorry you've been having this reaction. sounds like you've had quite a history. i wish you the best. hang in there.

Hi monicaroni, I have been taking Humira almost 8 months. I take humira for Crohns Althougth reap the benefit for the AS. I am thinking that you probably had a concurrent infection brewing when you Started Humira. Good Luck managing your AS, I appreciate how difficult it can be with mobility issues, and treating pain.

I dont think they mean insulin stored as insulin your using. once I need a new insulin pen I take it out of the fridge and let it worm up before I use it. I do store my unused insulin pens in the fridge.

hey out there! i have had crohns for 10 years now. i just started humira yesterday. anyway, what do all of you do for pain management. narcotics are the only thing that kills the pain, but i don't know if thats the right course to go.. if anyone could tell me what they do, or what kind of narcotics work best for crohns, or if i have to live with this pain.

Has anyone been on Humira and what kind of result did you have? Any side effects? I am on lots of meds which are not decreasing the pain. I now wonder what would have happened if she had pulled me off of the Humira at my first mention of symptoms instead of letting me take another month's worth of shots. My question, after all of my rambling, is if my problem is caused by the Humira and it is just MS like symptoms, what is the likelihood they will go away? Are there any steps I can take to help them go away? Because I haven't been to work in about 4 days now.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's 9 years ago. I have been taking Asacol (5-ASA) and Imuran (Azathioprine). Last february I was hospitalized for the first time and was put on prednisone. I am still on prednisone and my body won't let me get off of it. My doctor wants me to start Humira, but I am scared. I don't like reading about the side effects and things that can happen when on that drug. Does anyone have any experience with this drug (Humira)? I would really appreciate it.

I found out im bout 5wks pregnant n on humria injections, worried tht it will harm bby in future as there is no known research on this drug. any1 else on this drug?

Usually the side effects are well, evaluated against the benefits of a medication before prescribing it. Humira is a good medication to induce remission and symptom resolution, tough there are a few side effects associated. However all side effects may not necessarily develop in everybody. I would suggest discussing the pros and cons in detail with your treating rheumatologist. Let’s hope for a favourable recovery. Take care!

I am curious whether your doctor prescribed any other medications before prescribing Humira. Most of the folks I talk to start with other medications to control their symptoms and then, if nothing else is working, move up to Humira. Usually treatment starts with NSAIDS. If insufficient relief is experienced, DMARDS are prescribed. If there is still an insufficient improvement, then TNF inhibitors are prescribed.

I am trying to find out if i were to get herpes would I not be able to fight them off because of my Humira. And would it put me in a higher category to get them when my immune system is suppressed.

I have had 5 shots of humira and after the fisrt shot I felt like a scaitica but didn't think it was the now I can fell it go down my left leg, both calves tignly and i feel it in my neck also like spams, is this from teh humira? I called my dr and she idd not seem concerned? it has done wonders for my RA not at this cost. my finger tips fell tingly my clafs there is a pain in my butt that runs down my leg.

At first Humira worked completely, but for the last 3 month I now have got again explosive Diarrhoea and bleeding. I spent a minimum of 10 times running to the toilet a day, and get anxious going out and that causes stress and then more flare ups. I had a SeHCAT Scan for suspected bile acid malabsorption which I have not got and is not my cause for my Diarrhoea. I also take 60mg and 16mg Loperamide a day but Diarrhoea will not stop, only with Prednisolone Steroids.
