Hi monicaroni, I have been taking Humira almost 8 months. I take humira for Crohns Althougth reap the benefit for the AS. I am thinking that you probably had a concurrent infection brewing when you Started Humira. Good Luck managing your AS, I appreciate how difficult it can be with mobility issues, and treating pain.
I have started Humira injections which is a tnf drug and since I started taking it three weeks ago I have had a constant headache. Is this normal as not even strong painkillers are helping.
Other than Humia, similar symptoms can be seen in vit B12 deficiency, diabetes, hypothyroidism and lupus. However, since you are on Humira, you must consult your doctor (as you have) and stress on the need to change the dose or shift to other medications. My husband is on many arthritis medications, I know he does humira injections, and he has told me he is on 2 other (oral) medications. One he takes one once daily, another 8 times a day. I have been asking him to tell me what they are so I can look it up to be sure pregnancy would be ok but he hasn't gotten to that! I remember reading getting pregnant would be hard on a medication that was suggested to him and I remember something about it possibly harming the baby??
There are enough other sites and posts of the same complaint and also in the first 6 months on Humira. It was about my 3rd injection I think when I started having tooth pain in my upper front teeth. Within a couple of days, my bottom front teeth stated hurting. I skipped a week of Humira under Dr advice incase I was fighting a sinus infection. Symptoms got better. Then I started back on my Humira last night and my teeth are killing me again.
I have RA and have been diagnosed 1 year ago. Apparently I'm a severe case. It just keeps progressing. I've been on Plaquenil, Methotrexate for 8 months now. Started Humira injections about 3 months ago. About 2 weeks ago...my left thigh was itching...so I scratched. You should see the bruise I have now. It's been more than a week and its dark purple and measures 6" wide by 6"lenght. Should I worry about it?

Of course it seems a lot of folks have the same questions you do after reading humira info online - found a lot of questions asking if humira causes herpes.
If you already have herpes simplex, either orally or genitally, it could cause it to reactivate. Most people never get tested for herpes to know that they have it.
Does anyone have a diagnosis of "undifferentiated arthritis" with symptoms of finger, hand, and wrist arthritis? If so, what is your treatment therapy? I was originally diagnosed with SLE in sept 2010 with main symptom of arthritis but prior skin, photosensitivity, and mouth ulcers, plus ANA of 1:640. At that time my rheumy was thinking i had RA but i had no bloodwork indicating RA, so he thought i had SLE instead.
My rheumatologist prescribed ibuprofen to start with due to insurance requirements. Then he said he wanted to put me on Humira after I had tried the NSAID for a month. As we know NSAIDs aren't going to stop A.S., and I hate having to take any heavy duty drugs, especially shots. Since I am in no pain, and at my age and state of A.S.
From what I have read & also heard on other forums, saliva isn't good for sperm. I think it kills them but not sure to what extent. To be on the safe side, I would suggest not getting saliva "in the mix". Good- luck!
Yes, I actually am on other medications. That was something else I was worried about. I am currently on Advair 250, and that is a corticosteroid. I heard that increases your risk even more? And are there any suppliments I could possibly take for my immune system? I have an appointment with my rheumatologist this week, so I'll be asking him these questions but it's nice to know sooner than later.
Anyone taking humira and feel like they are sick coming down with a cold for a week after injection? Not a full blown cold but the start of one. I feel like this always and this is my 3rd dosage ( counting the starter kit), so I'm new to humira. I've noticed if I'm stressed, I'll even get a sore throat. I know humira suppresses your immune system but are you supposed to feel like you're coming down with something every injection or will this go away with time?
I'm 33 and have psoriatic arthritis and was recently started on Humira. Within a day of starting I had pain in my fingers, toes, shines and forearms (none of which I had before). Has anyone else experienced new joint pain after starting Humira?
Hi. I am not on Humira but have talked to many AS patients who have had great success with it. Most of the AS folks I talk to are on enbrel, but they are comparable meds. I hope one of them will pipe in here. Bumping this to the top of the forum will help with that effort. How long have you been taking the Humira?
Remicade is a biologic injection, in the same class of drugs as Humira, Enbrel and Orencia. I have been taking Humira for rhematoid arthritis and it seems to be doing it's job as my rheumy says. It keeps me out of the emergency room with serious flares which had become a habit for me.
These drugs are usually reserved for "rheumatoid" type arthritis and getting insurance companies to approve them is not normally easy.
Unfortunately, there are no useful data on interactions between HPV and humira or related drugs. I did a quick medical literature search in response to your question. There are one or two case reports in which people on anti-TNF drugs (although not Humira) had problems with warts that were resistant to treatment and that cleared up when the drug was stopped.
