Humira and folic acid

Common Questions and Answers about Humira and folic acid

humira

Avatar n tn I also do Enbrel, MTX and folic acid. I have not heard that you are not supposed to take Folic Acid with MTX. Why is that? I have been very successful with the meds. I have Ankylosing Spondylitis, not RA. And I have 3-4 drinks per week. Blood tests are always perfect according to the doc. Maybe you need to give it some more time for your body to adjust to it. Good luck.
Avatar m tn your sensations could be from the meds or your nerves. have some blood work done, like sed rate and wbc and see a neurologist. just my opinion and I am not a doc, just a very sick lady, 56 next month!
Avatar n tn Ultimately, after an allergic reaction to gold, my doctor put me on methotrexate and folic acid. It has been wonderful for me. No joint problems, no cane. I do have to get the blood tested every three months, no problem. I am so grateful. I know different systems react differently to different meds. So I hope you find meds that work for quickly for you. God bless.
Avatar f tn The response is correct....you are not supposed to drink alcoholic beverages while taking methotrexate...I was on the same dose as you and my rheumy said no alcohol...some rheumies will allow a certain number of drinks per year...like 1 drink on a special occasion...recommend you contact your rheumy if not already done, as s/he should have provided this direction to you...it's to avoid liver damage...I've since been put on other RA meds, but still can't drink...
Avatar f tn I agree with lizziecee. I'm on Cimzia, lialda and folic acid. When I have a flare to help reduce inflammation too,is to try to stay on clear, or soft diet.Applesauce, pudding, boullion, apple juice. Just give the intestines a rest for little bit. Good luck, and feel better.
Avatar m tn At first Humira worked completely, but for the last 3 month I now have got again explosive Diarrhoea and bleeding. I spent a minimum of 10 times running to the toilet a day, and get anxious going out and that causes stress and then more flare ups. I had a SeHCAT Scan for suspected bile acid malabsorption which I have not got and is not my cause for my Diarrhoea. I also take 60mg and 16mg Loperamide a day but Diarrhoea will not stop, only with Prednisolone Steroids.
Avatar f tn I take a prenatal pill with 1mg of folic acid in it and 0.8mg extra folic acid, with folic acid, what your body dont use, you will excrete it out(the folic acid). I would not recommend taking extra vitamins like c d etc. without drs orders bcuz those vitamins are not easliy excreted out of body and can cause life threatning situations.
Avatar f tn My question though is that I have been taking a multiple vitamin, aloe vera gel pills, and folic acid pills. This is just to keep my body healthy and my immune system healthy so that my body can continue to fight off this HPV. my question is regards to the folic acid though is that am I taking to much? The multiple vitamin i take already take has 800mg of folic acid and than i take a regular folic acid pill that is 400mg. Am I consuming to much. If so will it cause any harm to my body?
Avatar m tn talk to your dr about it im sure its fine. i found out at 7 weeks my folic acid was really low and now take folic acid supplements plus my prenatal vitamin. my baby is just fine so far, and im 18 weeks.
Avatar f tn He said I only needed it for the first fifteen weeks that after that its useless to take
Avatar f tn Im six months pregnant and I really been skipping out on my vitamins because they make me gag so Ive been taking iron and eatin foods with folic acid in them to replace me dropping the pills but now I'm worried it's not enough and something's gomna b wrong with my baby when I have it , did any one else not take pills
Avatar f tn Switch to a prenatal vitamin the one take is a Costco brand which has folic acid and mine says before during and after baby and while breastfeeding :)
Avatar f tn So I'm 7 weeks almost 8 now and I only found out recently so I wasn't taking any pregnancy supplements or folic acid so just wondering if it's safe to start taking it now and if my baby will be okay even though I wasn't taking folic acid before
Avatar f tn you do need to check with your ob, my peri had me on high folic and vit d. folic usually comes in 400mics if im not mistaken and some docs go as high as 2000 a day. good luck!!
Avatar f tn Devin had a growth disorder due to the lack of folic acid early in pregnancy. Now almost 2 years later i have been on folic acid and prenatals we are trying to concieve again. Good luck to all.
Avatar n tn I had seen posts before saying to go ahead and take an extra folic acid. However I was sketchy about it considering how much the prenatals already have in them. When I went to my first apt with my midwife, I showed her the vitamins I had been taking and she recommended I go ahead and add an extra folic acid and said that it couldn't hurt. So I don't believe you can take too much of it (reasonably). But that may be something that you want to wait and discuss with your doctor.
1160986 tn?1486819725 (Are you are eating a wheat-free diet, by any chance?) Anyway, folic acid is prescribed a lot lately for heart health, and so maybe there are new guidelines that the doctor is following. It's a B vitamin, i.e., water-soluble, so not dangerous in larger doses.
Avatar n tn I just recently found out I was pregnant (about 6 or 7 weeks along) and I wanted to start taking the folic acid. I bought a bottle of 400mg. Should I just take one or should I take 2? I don't go see my OB until Wednesday and would like to start taking them ASAP. Thanks everyone.
Avatar f tn My question regards folic acid. I have done some research and found that dilantin can lower folic acid levels, but I have also read that folic acid can interfere with dilantin, lowering the blood level, and setting one up for a possible breakthrough seizure. I recently purchased folic acid supplements because I thought it would be a good idea to take them, but now I am not so sure. The supplements I have are 800 mcg. Thank you for any help with this.
Avatar f tn I Am now 12 weeks pregnant and my doctor told me to take 5mg folic acid daily. But I missed 5 consecutive days intake of folic acid Does missed pills for 5 days affect my baby? I feel too much exhaustion during my 1st trimester and glad that too much vomiting has stopped. I feel quite depressed and can't fully relaxed.Especially when i feel excessive nausea. I get very irritable. This sick feeling happens everyday and I wonder if most women who are pregnant feel like this.
Avatar f tn I take extra folic acid. I've never been told it was bad. It is on my medication list with the Dr office and they go over it every time I'm seen. As for what dosage is right for you, I can't say. I will say, the reason I take extra is because I am a smoker. I was told in my first pregnancy that smoking leeches the folic acid out of your body, causing a deficiency from the start. I take the extra to combat this. Neural tube defects and the like are no joke.
Avatar f tn I take both a prenatal and folic acid, even though my prenatal has folic acid in it. My OB said one can't overdose on folic acid.
Avatar f tn I started taking folic acid two months before I conceived and am still taking that and prenatals. If you are out not worried about birth defects taking them won't hurt..
Avatar f tn Yes folic acid is a must its for the baby and it won't put any gain so don't worry about gaining weight.
Avatar f tn My husband and I are ttc so I take folic acid and every time I take my pill I feel sick to my stomach some people are more sensitive to it I guess.?!?!
Avatar f tn I was told to take Folic acid by my OB during the process of trying to conceive, I've read that once conception happens Folic acid no longer benefits in preventing spinal bif. Can anyone shed some light for me on the advantages of continuing it after conception.
Avatar f tn I believe it's 800mg when pregnant, and be sure to take dha too. are you getting prenatal care? you should ask your obgyn or midwife for alternatives so you and your baby have all the necessary nutrients for a healthy pregnancy. good luck!
