My pulmonary specialist just gave me an Advair Diskus and increased my Albuterol breathing treatments to 4-6 daily and my Combivent Inhaler every 4 hours. I almost died from an asthma attack last weekend. I had emergency heart surgery in June and have been having arrhythmias so I'm on a heart monitor for this month. I understand that Advair causes heart palpitations. Since I'm already having trouble with my heartbeat, I'm afraid to try the Advair.
Flovent is a corticosteroid used to reduce inflammation in the airways to help control asthma. Advair is a combination of the same corticosteroid in Flovent (fluticasone) and a bronchodilator called salmeterol. Bronchodilators relax the muscles around the airways to relieve asthma symptoms like wheezing and coughing. So, Flovent is the steroid fluticasone. Advair is a combination salmeterol/fluticasone.

I use Duoneb (similar to combivent) in a nebulizer and find it very helpful. I discontinued the use of Advair (which is basically a combination of Serevent and Flovent) because it almost killed me (choking). It also caused adrenal fatigue, was harming my eyes, and was subverting my immune system.
In place of Advair I use a variety of natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics. My health is much improved and I found that the severe bronchitis I had was in fact CAUSED by the Advair.

My husband and I were putting on one of those window kits to keep out the cold air out and I became very tired and my arms and legs felt like they were burning. I have been cautious about creating any sort of quick, drastic, pressure change in my mouth but now, I wonder about the use of my Advair diskus. I take Advair on a regular basis for asthma and have refrained from using it in the 24 hours post-extraction because I figured the quick inhalation may dislodge the clots. Now, however, it has been two days post-extraction, and I wonder whether it is safe to use Advair without risk of dislodging the clots.

) Prednisone should be a last resort anymore. Leukotriene inhibitors such as montelukast (Singulair), and Advair (diskus or HFA inhaler) are better choices for controller medications. There's other options, too, I'm just mentioning the two I use.
Keep a rescue inhaler (albuterol or levalbuterol) with you when exercising, too.
For me, and what my doctor suggested is swimming. It's good for learning breath control, and tends to not trigger asthma attacks caused by exercise.
I have the same problem. My doc had me on 250/50 2 times daily. It became a problem for me becuase I am sensitive to medications. I don't like feeling jittery because it freaks me out LOL. I stopped using it and then just Sunday, had an asthma attack.
Now I'm using my inhaler and will have to start back on it.
THE SOLUTION:
My doc understood my concern about Advair. He said to take it once in the morning or afternoon regularly.
so i took an xray and the results went back normal. so she told me to continue using my inhaler and nebulizer and she extended my montelukast treatment. so i did what she told me i kinda felt better i guess it's because of the xray result so i don't really notice how tired my body and my mind and my breathing was becoming. i was already sick for seven weeks when i started feeling tired and bad and i was crying cause i felt like i was not getting better so i visited my fathers Friend Dr.
Like the title states, i have a brief breathlessness when i use my advair, i have been using it for about 4 years now. The sensation lasts for about 2 minutes then gradually relieves my asthma on the whole. i Use a 250/50 Diskus. Also today i had a slight aspiration issue from what i believe to be GERD related but not yet diagnosed. acid keeps washing into my esophagus and twice today it got into the lungs and now i have a non stop sensation that my lungs are hot and irritated!
They took xrays, gave me a breathing treatment, told me I was having an exaerbation from my emphysema. Doc gave me Advair Diskus and an albuterol inhaler and told me I didnt have time to wait til January to get a pcp when I went on my husbands insurance. The temp doc I saw, never did test, but put me on more meds and put on her paper, "Chronic Obstructive Unspecified Asthma.
