I had to stop taking atenolol and all beta blockers because of major short term memory loss and other adverse side effects. Even 10 mg is more than my body can handle. It is not unusual for dysautonomia patients to be so sensitive to beta blockers that we cannot take it. I call that time in my life - Beta Blocker Hell. I also could not tolerate mestinon but the effects were much different than Beta Blockers.
When, say doing some bookkeeping, I will look at an invoice, and when I go to input the invoice # or what ever I have to go back to the invoice, sometimes 2 to 4 times... I can be having a conversation with someone... and then I'm just drawing a blank... having no idea of what we were talking about... or I'll get up to do something, and before I've stood up straight, I can't remember what I was going to do.

Hello-I was a recreational drug user from the time is was 13yo to 23 yo. I did overdose when I was 23, which acted as a catalyst for me to stop doing drugs. I've done cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and alcohol. My issue is that I feel like I have memory and cognitive issues due to my past drug use. I have since graduated from college and hold a computer related job. I do well in my job, but can't get over the past drug use and blaming it for my perceived inadequacies.
