572651 tn?1530999357 I have nitroquik - sublingual nitroglycerin - to take if I have angina pains - this morning about 5 am I was miserable and couldn't tell if it was heart or ms symptoms and I took one. As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes.
Avatar m tn And why would you use something that is not prescribed your MD. Nitroglycerin is not a.drug to mess with. If it ended up on the wrong person, in the wrong concentration, there could be severe consequences.
Avatar n tn Well, Viagra is not safe at all in the presence of nitroglycerin tablets and in fact, we know that if anyone takes Viagra with nitroglycerin tablets, that the blood pressure can be lowered precipitously and can be lowered to such levels as can be extraordinarily dangerous to you. [ABC News report from May 2008 - Internet] As we know, not everyone experiences negative side effects from every medication.
Avatar n tn The possibility is more because this pain is getting relieved by nitroglycerin. I would suggest you to consult your doctor as soon as possible about it and get yourself evaluated. Take care!
1310561 tn?1285863461 I found the only thing that helped me was to talk to someone. Are you able to get help from a doctor or other health professional? If you feel able to talk to your parents. Its great that you still have passion about anime. Lots of people when they are depressed find that even the things they love most aren't interesting any more. Being 13 *****. you are just coming into so many hormones, its very normal to feel depressed.
Avatar f tn When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval. Stopping Nitroglycerin Patch suddenly may cause serious, possibly life-threatening, WITHDRAWAL symptoms, including chest pain and heart attack. Having a nitrate-free period each day will help prevent tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal problems.
Avatar m tn The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
Avatar n tn My blood pressure does not drop between intervals...in fact I was told to have intervals of nitrate free period. It is true, nitro dilates the coronary vessels and prevents angina (chest pain). The patch should only be worn for up to 12 to 14 hours a day, or as directed by your doctor, but continued use with no interruptions can cause a tolerance for drug....
Avatar f tn I had this problem, but the vasospasm was caused by a cath procedure. The Cardiologist put me onto calcium channel blockers which stopped the spasms and after a few weeks he took me off the medication. I've been fine since then. They had to do this because I can't tolerate nitrates.
1098952 tn?1270309713 If a person with HCM were to take nitroglycerin, the symptoms would worsen and the nitroglycerin could even cause a catastrophic deterioration in the person's condition".
Avatar n tn I was seldom bothered by acid reflux or "heart burn" until I went in for an angioplasty which resulted in a heart attack. On leaving the hospital, I was given a prescription for Prilosec for acid reflux among my other prescriptions. This seemed strange that I would be given this med automatically, without my having complained about anything. But when I didn't take it, I suffered something awful.
Avatar n tn My 54 year old "healthy" husband received a stent yesterday due to a 99% LAD blockage! He is the typical type A personality and this only adds to his already stress overload. I realize we are lucky he is still here and thankful for medical technology. I am just concerned that this will forever be a constant worry for him. Any suggestions of how I can help him. Also I asked his MD about having nitroglycerin to have on hand and he said that this wasn't necessary???
675923 tn?1296238011 First I need to know how long you have been sparking up on cigs and second, this could be anything from chest congestion to emphysema, or anxiety, since i am a professional anxiety sufferer in my attacks i get Shortness of breath, cold, dizzy, and an extreme rush if fear, which i found now very EXCITING!
Avatar n tn The sublingual nitroglycerin seems to work to relieve the pain/pressure when it occurs but I am still conerned over the shortness of breath and fatigue along with a low temperature..95 and widely varying resting heart rate... 46 to 78 and widely variable resting blood pressure 148/98 to 102/70 thirty minutes later. What further testing, if any, would you suggest?
Avatar n tn irregular heart beat, chest pain, heart attack, angina or narrowing of the aortic valve) * high / low blood pressure * stroke * an inherited eye condition called retinitis pigmentose * any blood problems such as leukaemia or sickle cellanemia * penis deformity such as peyronies disease * an erection lasting more than 4 hours * allergy to Sildenafil The consumption of alcoholic beverages can temporarily impair the ability to get and keep a sustained erection.
Avatar n tn I assume the diagnosis of hyperreactive responses not only to the constrictor effects of acetylcholine, but also the dilator effects of nitroglycerin were detected diffusely in the epicardial coronary arteries of patients with coronary spastic angina. The goal of treatment is to control chest pain and to prevent heart attack. The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains.
Avatar f tn I've never heard of nitroglycerin being used to treat migraine, but glad that it worked. But if it keeps on, and sorry to tell you this, but you probably should see a doctor ASAP. It could be the sign of a coming stroke, since it is sudden and very painful. I started with a sudden very different migraine than any I had ever had before. It turned out that within 3 weeks, longer than usual as a gap in time, I had a full carotid artery dissection stroke.
Avatar m tn I'm a Raynaud's Phenomen patients who has the CREST syndrome and i use the nitroglycerin patches to control my raynaud's. Can you tell me if the patches used in this way would cause your acid reflux to be worse. When i took the lowest dose of nitroglycerin patches 0.1 didn't notice any but had to move up and now i do. Will this be something that my body may take an adjustment period for before i notice a different of not having symptoms again?
805943 tn?1238093647 Before we left they put me on a nitro drip. I get to the other hospital and they said I was too young to be having heart problems and said it was GERD. I have had GERD since I was 30, I am 40 now and have always taken my meds like I'm suppose too. They did blood workup, and said my potassium was low so gave me postassium pills and did an Echo Stress Test, they said it was fine and that they were diagnosing me with GERD and gave me 2 prescriptions for Nitrostat and Asprin.
Avatar m tn Do you think I should seek a second opinion or just try to forget about the pain and push myself to see how far I can go? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Depending on how long the spasm last, one can have a heart attack related to it. This is why patients with this condition should always carry nitroglycerin with them at all times.
Avatar f tn It's difficult to say without seeing the ECG and having complete history and exams. The ecg numbers are mostly normal except for the heart rate of 126. Given that you have a PR interval that the machine can pick up, i would say its probably not Atrial fibrillation or some other SVT. Sinus tachycardia >100bpm especially prolonged is pathological unless you are being stressed (ex. exercising). I'm concerned for pulmonary embolism given chest pain, shortness of breath and HR 126bpm.
Avatar n tn and if you have any idea on how i can talk to him about respecting women and any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also if you have any clue on how to get this boy to turn in his math homework, i would worship the ground you walk on. heheheh take care.
Avatar m tn i'm new to this forum but i do have CREST SYNDROME which i have the raynaud's mainly in my hands. I have tried all kinds of blood pressure pills and when i move up on dose to help it causes more raynauds. I finally was put on nitroglycerin patches and had to be moved up once and now i'm adding ginko to my dose and i have finally saw a change. Not a perfect fix yet but much better. I also take fish oil twice a day for the inflamation.
