My Dr told me to take an immodium before a big day or meal if I felt like I was going to have an IBS attack, That does work sometimes. I would take 2 the night before the cruise and maybe one the next morning, just to be sure. They are safe to take.
I have been adding a powder fiber to my coffee and tea every day and that is helping me.
Stay away from dairy and chocolate. Those are two triggers as well as caffeine. Use de-caf if you have to. Have a good cruise and let me know how you did.
I have been taking it everyday. It just makes it easier and more comfortable to go. You won't be running to the bathroom all the time. Just make sure you drink a lot with it. And don't try too hard to go or those hemorrhoids will show up. If you feel your bottom getting sore, get some Tucks pads at the drug store. They are soothing for a raw bottom and hemorrhoids...plus they are good for after baby comes too. Good luck!
Has anyone had miralax?
I have used concave and regular wafers, but not used the belt as I do not like it. Any advice on how to make this work the way it is supposed to. It seems to happen more when I am laying down, but has also happened when I am sitting up. It is very frustrating. I am having to change wafers every day due to leakage.
I think it depends on the type of enema. Using enemas frequently for constipation can cause your rectum to "forget" how to have a bowel movement naturally. Using enemas for "colon cleansing", I believe is not good, because your colon doesn't need any cleansing, it does this itself.
I'm also 9 week along and I've been taking Miralax and it does help. I had this problem before pregnancy and used to take it and it would work the next morning an didn't cause stomach pains or diarrhea. But now I take it and it takes a couple days to work and it has caused some pain and diarrhea but I don't even care lol bring on the stomach cramps as long as it makes me go! I used Colace in my first pregnancy but that didn't really help me.
This happened to me but for over a month! Nothing would work until an ER doc told me to double up on miralax... Meaning. Take the full dosage of miralax (17g) in the morning and another at night. Drink water all day. Eat fruits and vegetables and small portions of non fried chicken. Go on 30 minute walks every day. Try to relax and not stress about it. Hope this helps.
She has tried activia, colon health and even Miralax (16 doses the last 2 weeks) And so far nothing is really working. Her doctor suggested the Miralax, and blood work. CBC and thyroid. no results yet. But she is feeling real full and not much results even with the Miralax. Now there is a brown tongue, some times, and today puking, belly ache some diarrhea. But still now emptiness. She feels like crap. Pun intended.
I had the same problem. My doc also prescribed miralax. Im already swamped with other meds, so I decided to go natural to reduce the constipation. Try eating brown (wheat) instead of white and lots of green veggies (greens, spinach). It has done wonders for me.
The beginning of my pregnancy my OB said I could take miralax to help with constipation, but now that I am 37w4d is it safe to take? I don't want to take it if it's going to affect baby in any way.
I am 10wks preggo and was wondering if Miralax is safe to take for constipation during pregnancy....I am very constipated and have been drinking Metamucil 2 times a day without any effectiveness....my husband is a pharmacist and says that it is safe because it doesn't enter the bloodstream, but I do not want to take something unless I know that it is safe. I have seen where it is category c. Thanks for your help....
My Doc. said it would be ok to take Miralax to help with the constipation, but everything I have read online so far about the med,say I shouldn't take. I found on one website that it is graded as "C" by the FDA for safety while pregnant. The scale is A (safe), B, C, D, and then X (not safe at all).
Should I consult my doctor again and ask why he thinks it is safe to take it? In the mean time I have tried every thing possible on my own to help with the pregnancy constipation.
Have you tried MiraLax for the IBS? I use it every day.
It can help with gas pain also. From the MiraLax website:
"MiraLAX actually reduces cramps and gas that can be caused by constipation."
I don't work for the company - honest. I'm just glad there is something that actually works.
And I am extremely backed up. Does anyone have anything that they have used to relieve constipation that is baby safe!?
Metamucil is wonderful. Take about a day to work but once it does, man, talk about relief! Drinks tons of water. Prunes or prune juice works too.
