Avatar n tn The general term used for babies who can not hold their head up well is head lag. At birth, all babies have head lag. Some control over head movement is reached by 8 weeks so that head lag lessens. By the age of 4-6 months, most babies should be able to hold their head up when pulled by their arms to a seated position. However, there is of course some variation between infants, and some may hold their head up earlier and some a little later.
967168 tn?1477584489 Does anyone know about EMI (electromagnetic interference) and ICD's? I've already seen too many EP's about this; they disagree with each other and I'm frustrated with going to from dr to dr trying to figure this out when I know something's wrong (long winded post is in the HR forum for more info) The only info I find is if the leads are too closely implanted to the device there can be a problem like this.
3072999 tn?1356414732 Hi Tink, I am actually a medical coder for a hospital -the ICD-10 code would be G93.5. The ICD-9 code is 384.4. Since ICD-9 is not very specific they may have put a I after to show it is a Chiari Malformation type 1. In ICD-10 it is more specific - G93.5 states Chiari Malformation 1. So I am assuming since the ICD-9 code of 384.4 just states compression of brain they had to add a 1 so it was more specific for their notes.
Avatar m tn At the end the hospice folks did only comfort measures - a catheter for his bladder and pain meds, keeping him positioned with pillows to avoid sores and creams for his skin. There was no feeding tube, no IV. And when he did pass, the hospice nurse was right there with him. She noticed his breathing had changed and stayed there. She called us immediately. At least look over the form, see what you think. And if you think he'll end up with hospice care, see what they allow or disallow.
Avatar m tn 1. While and ICD implant is a procedure, it is not really surgery. And ICD is typically placed on one day and pt goes home the next. Usually no anesthesia is needed. Risk is very minimal. 2. If your ejection fraction is low, the ICD will serve as an "insurance policy"--ie hopefully you'll never need it but you'd be sure glad you had it if your heart "tried to die" on you 3.
Avatar m tn I have a pressure all around my neck at the base of my head and up into my head. I find it difficult to see and concentrate. I can't wear anything around my neck or necklaces or earnings. I have had my ICD off for 8mths as I was waiting for a new one to be implanted and during this time all the pain went. Previously I had been to everyone I could imagine to find out what was wrong and no answer. I have now had a new implant and 4 weeks on all the bad sensations have returned.
Avatar f tn I have had an enlarged lymph node in my neck (under jaw line between cheek and ear) for at least ten years, probably closer to 15 years. It came about after a bout of either strep throat or mononucleosis and when I asked my then doctor (at Kaiser Permanente) about it, he responded that it was scar tissue from an infection. It has never decreased in size and only increases slightly in size when I'm sick with a sore throat or tonsilitis.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone! I'm about 22 years old, I am 5'2”, 105 -117 lbs. and I've been having problems over the course of time. Four of them are quite disturbing. I just want to know if this is something to ask my doctor about, or if I should stay at home and forget about it. 1) Chin numbness – This started last year and it was rather unnerving. So I Googled it and I saw that I either had a metastatic, invasive cancer and my days were numbered, or I had MS.
Avatar f tn Started off as a knot on the back of my head right where necks start on the bottom of head.. then I noticed I had a tiny knot in my neck. Did some research and cancer started to pop up on the Internet.. I freaked out and anxiety went into overdrive.. doctor examined me and thought it was due to allergies.. got cat scan and the side with knot the lymph nodes and glands was bigger but they said they didn’t see anything wrong ..
Avatar m tn They actually took him off hospice care for a few days, replaced his ICD with a plain pacemaker and then put him back on hospice. He did quite well with just that and eventually died from cancer a year or so later. How long a battery lasts depends on how much it's used. Like a flashlight, if you use it all night, the batteries will run down quickly. If you only use it once a year, it will last a very long time. With average use a pacemaker/ICD tends to last about 5 years.
Avatar m tn I do know that if you should need the shock and no ICD, I think you know the answer. In my opinion, and I base this on what the doc told us, then I came up with this, and they agreed. The damage to the heart from A-Fib, would be far greater than the damage from the shock. Gosh, I am sorry for going on and on. Hope I haven't scared you. Would really encourage you to ask your cardiologist these questions. He would be the best to answer them. Like I said, I have given my opinion.
554422 tn?1220575366 I had a head-on MVA wherein I broke my neck and I believe the heart was damaged due to BFT (blunt force trauma). Cardio's say that is definitely possible, but without prior reference for heart, hard to prove. ( I was very healthy prior to acc, so no tests whatsoever needed for heart or otherwise - so nothing to compare to ). Day of acc, chest x-ray said heart 'looked' ok, so I think the damage went under the radar, until years later .
621386 tn?1221532483 I wish you the best of luck and go get a head and neck cancer specialist to check you out completlyl! I would demand it we even had to travel out of our area to a cancer treatment center.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your help. To answer your ?'s I take elmiron for my ICD and I take spirolactone for the water weight problem and high blood pressure. I will be going for my yearly check up with my urologist so I will talk to him about. I will also go ahead get my self to the obgyn.
Avatar f tn I am having a hard time with this, as I am newly married and we want to start a family and this would be my first pregnancy. I was diagnosed a year and a half ago and I am stable and on meds. Could our dream ever become or reality?
Avatar n tn He was having v-tach quite often and he also ended up with an ICD. After about 5 years with the ICD his heart started to fail pretty badly. The docs even put him on hospice care. Part of the problem was my Dad's reluctance to switch his meds. He was comfortable with the meds he had and didn't want to bother with the side effects of new meds. After doing a face plant in the hospital parking lot one day, he agreed to switch to the Amiodarone.
444864 tn?1205155893 The last time I passed out in the shower and smashed my head and teeth (broke one tooth)...I woke up in the bottom of the tub...scared to death. I guess passing out is what scares me the most. I am having alot of anxiety about passing out and hurting myself again. I realize the ICD is a life saving device and am so thankful to have one. Without it...I would not be here. Do you know of any websites that have information on ICD's??
Avatar f tn Yes, I had the tilt test and the cardiac mri, before the ICD. I was in 9 days, some in ICU, but the last 24 hours they did the ICD, they had done all the testing before that! THanks. I do have a ton more questions for the docs when I see them on the 21st. and then millions after that!
Avatar n tn My Dad had 4 heart attacks and had an ICD put in. It was a big help. In the end he passed away from cancer; his heart held up through all of that illness.
Avatar m tn for short minutes. X ray on the back of her head shows no fracture and she feels upbeat and well. The ECG taken was also normal. Except the doctor said she has some water in her chest and dieuretics were prescribed. and her norbasc is removed and approbel increased to every other day from 3 tablets a week. The doctor also said it is vasovaga. But her blood sugar was normal and her blood pressure was also normal at that time. Is it possible that it may be ventricular fibrillation?
Avatar n tn I have had swollen lymph nodes in the neck and back of my head for several months now. They begin under the chin, and travel all the way down to the base of my neck on both sides, as well as at the base of the skull in the back, and down the back of the neck to the base. I have had these about 5 months now. It is also accompanied with ear pain. When swollen, they are soft and tender, and very sore. They are not hard or rubbery to the touch.
Avatar m tn I also was questioning a ICD as I have a left bundle branch block and my EF is now about 25%..I did have an ablation for my wolf parkinson white syndrome.which has helped..But they say my heart muscle is a bit enlarged I have no problem breathing unless the humidity is very high..No problem when laying down and no swelling in the legs ...When I take coreg for the heart muscle i feel awful hurting everywhere..
