My Dr told me only regular mucinex (guaifenesin) only.

U guys taken it before for cough? I have a Lil bit of cough and snots so yeah. Is it safe? To be specific its dextmetheophan/guaifenesin. How far along are you when you took it? I'm 33 weeks BTW. Ty mommas!

I ended up taking Mucinex DM.. its like 1200mg of Guaifenesin in each tablet. It did help, but not as much as when I was not on Clomid. Having more is awesome! From what I understand.. the more the better!

Lately I've noticed the same about mine. I talked to the RE about it since it seemed like when I would get pregnant it was always months where I was sick and on cough medication. I was told preseed is good also the nurse recommended since I've been on clomid and the cm has been little to none around ovulation time that I could take mucinex. It has the same ingredient as the plain robitussin just don't get the mucinex dm.

For a cough, try something like guaifenesin, like Robitussin Severe Congestion Liquagels or Mucinex. Avoid dextramethorphan, like Robitussin DM. It is okay to treat the symptoms of your cough, but if you are getting symptoms that point toward bacterial infection requiring antibiotics, make sure you see your doctor. Examples of symptoms to watch for are fever, coughing up colored phlegm, pain in your chest when you cough, shortness of breath, or any symptoms lasting more than 10 days or so.

Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place. Generic versions are most likely available as well. Be sure to carefully inspect the ingredients list to make sure the ONLY active ingredient as guaifenesin. Any other ingredients can diminish the effect you are looking for. Just know if you decide to use the Robitussin make sure there are no additives in it. Guaifenesin is what you need. You can also utilize the generic brand which is called Tussin or even the store brand (i.e. Walgreen's, CVS, etc.)...not sure if these are in Canada. I got my BFP by drinking the grapefruit juice, eating pineapples and taking Robitussin DM. If you use robitussin, make sure it only has Guaifenesin in it.

I took over the counter generic mucinex with only active ingredient guafenesin in Oct. and got my BFP in Nov. So, I can't say it helped but who knows. I did notice more CM throughout my cycle and not really being dry like I'm used to. LOL I hope this helps. I have heard people talk about pre-seed and EPO too. Doesn't hurt to try stuff. Guaifenesin, how much is an Overdose? My daughter 11 years old 100 lbs (big for her age), took (the correct dose) 5mL cough and cold medicine that had the following in that dose. Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg, Dextromethorpan HBr, USP 10 mL. Phenylephedrine HCI, USB 5mg. But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose.

I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.

The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.

yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
