Avatar f tn Is tylenol cold multi symptom ok to take ? It says Acetaminophen , phenylephrine HCI , dextromethorphan HBr its pain reliever fever reducer nasal decongestant cough suppressant .
Avatar f tn FDA pregnancy category C. It is not known whether dextromethorphan and guaifenesin will harm an unborn baby. Do not use this medicine without a doctor's advice if you are pregnant.
Avatar f tn I have a cold, I had to Google guaifenisen and it told me that there were birth defects reported but no clear link to the drug. I decided not to take the risk and just went with acetaminophen and diphidramine separately because even dextromethorphan and phenylephrine (dayquil) is not safe at all.
Avatar n tn It has acetaminophen, phenylephrine HCI, dextromethorphan HBr, pain reliever/fever reducer, nasal decongestant, cough suppressant. Any bad?
Avatar n tn For OTC cough syrup, I use Delsym (Dextromethorphan polistirex) or Mucinex (Guaifenesin). I've never had a problem with either, and I'd consider myself fairly sensitive to cold medications. When I need the big guns, I get my PCP to prescribe Tussionex (chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone) aka. "Liquid Gold". I love this stuff. It's expensive, hence the name. But you WILL stop coughing, and you WILL sleep!
Avatar n tn e., with antihistamine chlorpheniramine 4 mg, decongestant phenylephrine 12.5 mg, and cough suppressant dextromethorphan 15 mg, each per 5 mL), then the guideline dose for a 4-year-old is one-quarter teaspoon (the one-half teaspoon dose is for age 6-11 years, while the full teaspoon dose is for ages 12 years and up).
Avatar n tn The ingredients are acetaminophen, guaifenesin, and phenylephrine. Will any of those ingredients caus a positive drug or alcohol test?
Avatar m tn I recently had a really bad attack which lasted several days When i had a cold and i found that i had a very bad reaction to taking Beechams all in one which contains paracetamol , guaifenesin , phenylephrine & Contac dual relief tablets which contain pseudrephedrine , hydrochloride , paracetamol , I know that i am ok with paracetamol but the other ingrediants in these cause me to have really intense migraines.
1047147 tn?1328906154 It is used on the fertility boards and newsgroups in the same manner as saying Band-Aid for an adhesive strip used to cover a cut. Any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient is fine to use. What kind of Robitussin is used to improve cervical mucus? One should buy the plain kind with no letters after it. The only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon.
Avatar m tn ve also had a cough for about the past three weeks, which was dry to begin with, then slightly phlegmy, then treated with a cough medicine that includes suppressant (dextromethorphan), expectorant (guaifenisin) and nasal decongestant (phenylephrine), and then dry again and still comes up every now and then. So I'm also entertaining the possibility of an allergy to the cough medicine which I discontinued after coming out in the rash.
Avatar f tn In the mean time there are some OTC cough meds that are safe. Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, halls lozenges, Robitussin (plain), sucrets, Sudafed and Sudafed PE, Tylenol plus, Vicks formula 44, Zinc lozenges. A cup of honey and lemon can be soothing for a cough also .
Avatar m tn Were allergic or cold symptoms the reasons you were taking benadryl, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine? However, you mention unusual visual symptoms, too, and none of this seems related to any of the drugs you were taking. In your situation, I'd recommend writing this down: 2 months ago: Loss of taste and smell At the same time: visual snow or smoke effects in low light.
927769 tn?1275932602 Many people recommend Mucinex because it doesnt have Dextromethorphan. It only has guaifenesin which is the drug that thins CM. So I hope you ladies do your research before you put all your trust on any drug that "Helps you to conseive"....
Avatar f tn The only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon. It is very important to avoid the versions that contain decongestants as those may dry up cervical mucus. Also, there is some conflicting information about whether dextromethorphan, the DM in some cough medicine names, may be linked to birth defects such as neural tube defects and cleft palate The recommended dose for improving cervical mucus is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day.
377493 tn?1356502149 Just know if you decide to use the Robitussin make sure there are no additives in it. Guaifenesin is what you need. You can also utilize the generic brand which is called Tussin or even the store brand (i.e. Walgreen's, CVS, etc.)...not sure if these are in Canada. There are several types of Robitussin (i.e. Robitussin DM, Robitussin C, Robitussin D, etc.) These all have additional active ingredients in them like Dextromethorphan HBr which is a cough suppressant and you do not need that.
Avatar f tn The other source is the combination of drugs commonly used in over-the-counter cough suppression medicines - Dextromethorphan and Guaifenesin. Not doubt, itching is also the side-effect of other medicines.
1102149 tn?1259692962 I took over the counter generic mucinex with only active ingredient guafenesin in Oct. and got my BFP in Nov. So, I can't say it helped but who knows. I did notice more CM throughout my cycle and not really being dry like I'm used to. LOL I hope this helps. I have heard people talk about pre-seed and EPO too. Doesn't hurt to try stuff. Good luck...
2078179 tn?1331940461 I will give you the branded names of the products here in the USA and and the generic name when possible (not sure if branded names are the same in UK). First product you want is Mucinex D (guaifenesin and pseudoephedrine). This product will dry out your sinuses and help clear your Eustachian tube that runs from your nasal cavity up to your ears (this is where your ear pain, balance issues, and hearing problems can come from).
