183933 tn?1290216962 They feel this is more dangerous than unknown possible risks from glyburide. I have read that glyburide is considered very safe in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters but there has never been any study of the drug in pg women that I could find. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and ask your surrogate if she would switch to insulin at least for a month or two. That will give the babies time to finish all of those early developments that can be so sensitive.
Avatar f tn All my results have been under 120 for the 1st week and now my Dr said I need to take 5mg of Glyburide daily. I read alot of negative things about Glyburide during pregnancy so I told my Dr I would not take it. Now she says I will need to be on Insulin. Does anyone know if Glyburide or Insulin are appropriate if your glucose results are all under 120? I thought medication for gestational diabetes should only be given if the results are very high but again I'm not sure.

Avatar f tn Is anybody here taking glyburide medicine while pregnant? I went to my appt this morning my OBGYN Dr is away for 2 weeks and she'll be back on dec 15.. The OBGYN that I saw this morning prescribe me medicine glyburide for gestation diabetes he said it's safe for pregnant woman to take it but my OBGYN told me the only safe medicine that I can take is insulin specially that I'm a high risk, I had 2 miscarriage in the past and I'm really scared and don't know what to do...
Avatar f tn I failed my three hour and they had me on a diet and checking my blood sugar 4x a day. Plus I see a perinatalogist to checkon baby and make sure he's growing right. The diet didn't work for me like they wanted it to so I was put on glyburide twice a day. It's nothing to worry about really. It's just a pain to check your sugars all the time and not being able to give in to cravings is hard sometimes.
Avatar f tn My fetal specialist is putting me on glyburide for my fasting sugars being to high! Has anyone else had to take this an everything was OK with the baby????
1925135 tn?1323307656 There are several combination oral diabetes pills that combine two medications into one tablet. Examples of this is are Actosplus Met, Duetact, Glucovance, Janumet, and Metaglip. Advandamet and Avandyrl were pulled off the mkt [recalled]. Since you didn't provide us with names of medications you tried you should research the seven classes of oral diabetes medications, then discuss the available medications under each class with your doctor.

Avatar f tn I am a 36 yr old type 2 diabetic, w/chronic hypertension and overweight. Just lost my 2nd baby at 22 wks. This baby stopped growing@17 wks. I lost my first baby as well at 22wks at age 30. 1st pregnancy loss was due to pre-eclampsia which caused placenta to stop functioning at 20wks. 2nd pregnancy bled from 6 wks to 18wks off and on. No cause ever given for the bleeding. Midwife always stated that cervix was closed and tight, baby was fine and stop having sex.

Is this an emergency? i took it aronund ten hours ago and now im still feeling the side effects. will this go away and is my blood sugar permanently damaged? im 27 history of common allergies and no allergies to drugs. i take adderall for adhd. what should i do?
Avatar n tn I am on glyburide and so far the baby seems to be measuring on the date, but im curious as to the earliest a doc has ever scheduled a c section or induction for GDM complications?
Avatar n tn I just came back from my dietician who prescribed glyburide 1.25mg at bedtime because my fasting numbers have always been between 93-96 and my a1c came back 1 point higher then at the beginning of my pregnancy. Im 29 weeks along and im just double thinking on taking any meds. Have any of you had complications while on it? Did you deliver a healthy baby? This is my first time dealing with gestational diebetes. Any insight will be appreciated.
Avatar f tn My levels can increase 25 to 100 points after taking my medication (GLUCOVANCE) whether I eat or not. Earlier today I ate a meal which included a lot of carbs. I checked my blood sugar before and after. My blood sugar level dropped 50 points. I know that weaning off of cymbalta causes a myriad of side effects with brain zaps being the worst. I have researched to see if there is a link between coming off of cymbalta and this problem with my blood sugar.
Avatar f tn I eat balanced meals low carb high protein and I take 2.5mg of glyburide at night and my sugar is under control. Diet is really important. Some people have to take insulin.
Avatar n tn I take Metformin 1000 mg twice a day and Glyburide 5 mg in the AM and 2.5 in the PM. Sometimes the Glyburide lowers my blood sugar too much particularly if I don't eat something a few hours after taking my meds. As you mention my blood sugar will only be in the 80-90 range and I start to experience hypoglycemic symptoms. Fatique, palpitations, sweating, shaking, feeling of dread...just a general awful feeling. Mnay times I do have a racing heart and a rate of 120-160 BPM is common.
