Glucosamine sulfate use delay progression

Common Questions and Answers about Glucosamine sulfate use delay progression

glucosamine

Avatar m tn Pt. II -- Other ideas are chondrointon and glucosamine sulfate, which help some, don't help others. Some also find help by avoiding foods in the nightshade family. Lots of research to do.
Avatar n tn ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.
Avatar m tn My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight. So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose. As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement. You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
6669309 tn?1462648142 Hi. Arthritis is very common in older dogs and the longer dogs live the more common it is becoming. Nutritional supplements Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate are two substances that have fast become the standard treatment in canine age-related arthritis. These are often sold as a single combined substance in good pet shops and quality supermarkets. Alternatively, just look up "Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate for dogs" on Google and you should find a supplier.
Avatar f tn However, Italian researchers have found that the LD50 (the lethal dose at which half of the animals die) of glucosamine sulfate is 8000 mg/kg. In humans this would be equivalent to ingesting over 500,000 mg at one time or 1,000 pills each containing 500 mg. I hope this is useful... I got the idea from the site that max safe dose is 1500mg, and your dog had twice that much. You may want to see the vet anyway, even tho it says in the previous paragraph that a lethal dose is 8000mg.
1360851 tn?1277581906 I wouldn't, it's a very hot herb. Best bet is to buy the caps standardized for circumin. And it's best to combine things, no one thing is that strong naturally.
1356964 tn?1302087435 that they seem to put in anything labelled for pet use. the human form is Glucosamine/Chrondroitin and cheaper to buy that way. Donna I'm doing some more indepth checking on this thru the holistic ppl I will get back to you so don't do any ordering until I do....continue with the cosequin.
1295500 tn?1272459927 Hi, my questions is I have a 9 year old collie, Sheppard, husky mix dog she's probably about 90 lbs now. She seems to be having a lot of problem with her back legs. Some days she seems fine and other days she can barely get up off the floor and when she does her back legs shake. Right now what's happening is she is holding one of her legs up and walking on three legs.
Avatar n tn Hi Thanks for your reply. I have not heard of Olive Leaf Extract before so I am very interested in your improvement. I had a quick search on line for Olive Leaf products and there seems quite a variety to choose from. Can I ask what you take and what dosage? Also you said you were advised to triple your usual dose of Glucosamine, so what do you take now?
Avatar n tn At any rate, there are so many remedies for joint inflammation -- MSM, chondroiton and glucosamine sulfate, proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain, quercitin, vitamin C, ginger, turmeric, boswellia, devil's claw, yucca -- I mean, the list is very long. Perhaps the best thing is to buy a good book on natural treatment of this problem since there are so many combinations of options to choose from.
Avatar f tn Other options include omega 3, and glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate. Studies indicate that both seem to act as natural anti-inflammatories. Finally, I have had success sending patients for acupuncture to aid in their pain relief and recovery from orthopedic problems.

Avatar f tn Most people with arthritis have some nutritional deficiencies, including lowered levels of vitamins A, B6, B12, and C. Glucosamine sulfate can help. The proper levels of minerals like magnesium and selenium is also important. Most arthritic patients need detoxification from heavy metals like mercury. Eliminate refined foods. Eat a whole-food diet including unrefined sugar, salt, oil, and flour, and as much organic produce as possible. Also, drink enough water.
Avatar f tn I also have arthritis in my fingers, which is getting worse. A friend advised me to take glucosamine but considering it is made from the shells of sea creatures I wonder whether it contains iodine. Does anyone know if it would effect the thyroxine?
Avatar n tn There is evidence to suggest that the regular use of Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol may slow the progression. The best way to slow progression is smoking cessation. The rate of loss of lung tissue in COPD is roughly 3 times as fast for smokers as it is for those who quit. Good luck.
Avatar m tn In addition, you might consider using a vitamin containing glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate. Many have had significant relief on this vitamin.
Avatar f tn Diagnosis of osteoarthritis is confirmed by physical examination and X-rays of the ankle joint. Medications like glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are being used as they are effective in reducing the pain of OA in all joints. Physical therapy plays an important role in the treatment plan of osteoarthritis. If you are not satisfied seeking second opinion will help. Do keep me posted. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn I have a 12-year-old Rottweiler/Lab mix. He has been arthritic for a few years, and been on a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement to help that. Lately, though, it seems to have gotten a LOT worse very quickly. - When he's up and moving, he doesn't bend his left hind hock much, so he walks kind of "peg-legged." - There have been several instances in the past couple months where his back end has simply collapsed while walking up stairs, even on the single step up to my porch.

Ensuring adequate levels of minerals such as magnesium and selenium is also important. Finally, detoxification should be part of any arthritic patient’s holistic plan. Avatar f tn and substances said to help with the joints themselves, such as glucosamine and chondrointin sulfate and hyaluronic acid. Knox gelatin has been used for the joints, but it's because of the glucosamine and chondrointin in it and you'll get a lot more of it in supplement form than by eating gelatin. Good luck, and good researching.
Avatar m tn On the down side, many companies have begun selling hyaluronic acid (as well as chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine) as a vastly overpriced, nutritional supplement that is supposed to have curative properties against arthritis, cancer, and other ailments. The idea is that the supplements will help your body replace worn out cartilage.
1388999 tn?1370042814 Cosequin is glucosamine + chondroitn sulfate, probably similar to the product you have been using (just more expensive!). From what I can tell, one level scoop of powder would probably be the equivalent to slightly more than the cosaquin for dog dosage of 3 tablets for 50-100lb dogs. You may want to try adding MSM, its a natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. You can give capsules, powder or there are a variety of treats on the market containing it as well.
