Hi,does anyone know what dose of glucosamine & chondroitin i should give my 7yr old border collie,he is getting very stiff in his hind leg when getting up(old injury when he was 1yr old) but once he gets going he is still as fit & active as ever.
My own opinion is that glucosamine works best when combined with anti-inflammatories such as proteolytic enzymes. With me it's my knee and worn away discs. I also take a ginger circumin (tumeric) combo from Nature's Life and freeze dried nettles and a bromelain quercitin vitamin C combo both because I have allergies and as anti-inflammatories (anti-histamines are anti-inflammatories).
This will help prevent excessive oil production. Apply, powder on you face especially over the T zone. This will help absorb the oil. If there are oil absorbent sheets available, you may use them to control the oil throughout the day.
m taking Ameriden Olive Leaf Extract - 6 caps a day, I was instructed to take only this brand. Plus Glucosamine 1500mg 3 X a day and hyaluronic acid (cushions joint) 100mg 3X a day. I am trying to follow an alkaline pH diet as much as poss - but it's not easy, do drink alkaline water tho'.
I also buy the Pedigree dog food which has one where it has glucosamine in it for healthy joints. Ofcourse ask your vet if Glucosamine would be ok for your dog to take because I don't know if hip arthritis and hip dysplasia is the same thing. I hope and pray your baby gets better.
At 204, 4 liters is probably about right - maybe even not enough if the soda you're drinking is caffeinated, you drink tea, and you work out or your job involves physical labour. If you don't like Gatorade, you might try the packs of 'Emergen-C' powder. It can be mixed into your other drinks, comes in different flavors, and also has different formulations containing additional supplements (i.e. glucosamine/chondroitin).
Nature's Bounty prenatal vitamins is it good?
I finally was able to get some. "Nature's Bounty" "Stress Relief"... Walmart groceries delivery... 300mg extract says = 1200 mgs root... tried over week each night... 1, 2, 3, 4 pills ... no sleep help realized... saw other similar products claiming adding black pepper increases absorption 20 x's so added 1/4 teaspoon that in warm milk... still no sleep help... my melatonin has worked for many yrs... but ofcourse i've needed more and more of it...
5 pound schnauzer and has been limping a bit after exercise. I have started giving her 500 mg of glucosamine a day and wanted to know if this is the right dosage?
i have a 6 month old shitzu/pommeranian, ever since i got him 4 months ago he has been eatting his own poop, he has plenty on food and water down all the time and has access to his food and water, but soon as he goes outside he does his number then turns around right after and eats it not sure what to do about this if someone out there can give some advice i would really appreciate it......
I just recently started taking glucosamine and Chondroitin to help my knee recover from a dislocated patella. but for some reason my contact lenses have become very dry is that a side effect of the glucosamine??. I have used this type of soft contacts for a long time but never experienced this problem. Thanks.
My dog weighed 28-30lbs and the correct dose for her was 500mg Glucosamine per day. The vet said the 'human' Glucosamine was fine to use, so long as the dosage was correct for the dog's weight.
So it depends what your dog's weight is, how much you can increase the dose.
As far as I can make out, dogs (and humans too) respond differently to Glucosamine. With some there are great results, and with some, not much improvement.
You could mention this to your vet perhaps.
The homecooked food sounds good. Maybe a slightly smaller portion each meal time? Is Gycoflex Glucosamine plus some extras? Is he on the maximum dose for his weight?
Yes arthritis can be painful, but sometimes the pain can ease with gentle exercise little and often. But he will probably need some medical help for this. So get him to a vet.
"Out" or "Nature's Miracle" are pretty good. Our local specialty shop that cleans Oriental rugs uses some kind of enzymatic stuff that actually eats up all the bacteria (on rugs) and they were the ones who recommended the "Out." Folex is also a tremendous spot remover.
My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
I have always fed them a really good food with the added glucosamine. I just recently changed foods to one without glucosamine. My lab started limping really bad. I went to human vitamin store and got her some glucosamine supplements. I got the liquid flavored glucosamine and the glucosamine soft flavored chew. I know some cannot swallow pills. My dog eats the chews if I slightly warm them. She will not touch the liquid. I would rather put a pill in some meat or something.
ive been giving my dog which is 17kg 1000mg of glucosamine every day for a week which i will now reduce to 500mg a day is there any thing else i should give him with this or is glucosamine alone ok my dog has early signs of arthritis in his back legs its a bit of an effort for him to get up now he is 10 yrs 3mths old and had cruciate ligament surgery back in may last yr and in the other leg about 5 to 6 yrs ago
