Avatar f tn There have been increased incidences of fibromyalgia among people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Having rheumatoid arthritis can be considered as a risk factor for fibromyalgia. A lack of vitamin D is associated with higher risk of rheumatoid arthritis. A correct intake of vitamin D, along with calcium is very important in protecting the health of our bones. Low vitamin D may lead to early progression of the disease. You need to see a specialist.
2043993 tn?1450875078 Hi, I am 23 years old and have been noticing some occasional stiffness in my hands, feet, knees, and back. My mother suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus and I know both are hereditary diseases. Is it possible to have rheumatoid arthritis at such a young age? and should I get tested?
Avatar n tn t have rheumatoid arthritis. At any rate, there are so many remedies for joint inflammation -- MSM, chondroiton and glucosamine sulfate, proteolytic enzymes such as bromelain, quercitin, vitamin C, ginger, turmeric, boswellia, devil's claw, yucca -- I mean, the list is very long. Perhaps the best thing is to buy a good book on natural treatment of this problem since there are so many combinations of options to choose from.
Avatar f tn It could be arthritis. The best thing to do is see your Dr for tests. I know your so young to even think about arthritis but it can happen. Especially Rheumatoid arthritis. Make an appointment to find out what's going on.
Avatar n tn When you say "LegS" makes me think of a spinal cord problem (that would affect both back legs!) i.e... Disc, instability or tumor. Could be "body-wide" arthritis - very common in older large breed dogs. I would not waste time or money on Acupuncture (few do it right and has little actual clinical effects). Stem Cell therapy is expensive and has only a small percentage of effectiveness. Your dog is not a good candidate.
Avatar m tn I had joint pain so severe, I went to Dr. in tears. Rheumatoid factor was 14 and sed rate was approx. 35. I have swelling in fingers and wrists and pain in ankles and hips. Hand, wrist, and finger pain was affecting every day life. I was sent for a bone scan and arthritis was found in all of those joints. I also was testing positive for active mono (not sick at all) and syphillis, but the actual STD test was negative. Also have my Dad's mom had RA. Does this sound like the onset of RA?
Avatar f tn I assume you're looking for alternative remedies, not pharmaceuticals. This can be very particular to an individual, and dependent on how severe the arthritis is and whether it's pinching nerves and such, and whether it's osteo or rheumatoid arthritis.
1388999 tn?1370042814 Reason I ask is my Misty used to get what I believe was arthritis in her right hind leg (it was broken once and the vet said she would likely develop arthritis in later years...
Avatar n tn I'm virtually certain I don't have the rheumatoid(arthritis) One could develop/get it anytime(as I recall), & even osteo from rheumatoid, I suppose. I was diagnosed with osteo in '03 & show no egregious new symptoms which would suggest rheumatoid. If the opposite(were true), I'm certain my physician would've had me do the tests you recommend(ed) I know there's "no cure" for osteoarthritis, but inhibit acquiescing since I (appear to) have it.
Avatar n tn Well, I have suspected I had some form of arthritis for years. It started in my lower back and I had several bad flares that put me in bed and no one believed me. I developed anxiety and panic attacks. Anyway, I managed with this back massage thing I bought for years until one day one of my fingers couldn't bend. From there my wrist on one hand has swollen up and fingers on my other hand. Now my feet hurt and shoulders and my upper back are all painful and inflamed.
Avatar f tn A traumatic injury or ankle sprain is common cause of ankle swelling and pain. Other causes are rheumatoid arthritis, gout, vascular obstruction etc.In osteoarthritis there are degenerative changes and damage to the articular cartilage. Diagnosis of osteoarthritis is confirmed by physical examination and X-rays of the ankle joint. Medications like glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate are being used as they are effective in reducing the pain of OA in all joints.
Avatar n tn my mother in law is on coumadin and has arthritis in her knees and back. Can she take or use things like ginger,or glucosamine sulfate without affecting the coumadin?
1093971 tn?1257833640 I suffer from arthritis in various joints from time to time and gout. Recently a foot doctor recommended glucosomine to help relieve the arthritis. I've read the Glicosomine is not advised for Type II diabetics. Can someone comment?
1110049 tn?1409402144 Glucosamine is commonly taken in combination with chondroitin, a glycosaminoglycan derived from articular cartilage. Use of complementary therapies, including glucosamine, is common in patients with osteoarthritis, and may allow for reduced doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents.
3201003 tn?1345349318 Actually, these names are somewhat misnomers. Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and adult onset rheumatoid arthritis differ in some characteristics but the names indicate strict similarity. Juvenile chronic arthritis is a misnomer since juvenile arthritis is not always chronic. Still's disease is a name which should be used for one very specific type of childhood arthritis. There are many links put in JRA into the search engine..and do see a specialist she can be helped ...
Avatar n tn But he sounds as if he is getting on in years, and has maybe slowed down generally? How old is he? And what is his general condition? If arthritis is causing weakness in his legs, maybe if you could alleviate the arthritis somewhat, he would be capable of more vigorous exercise? I would certainly give him a Glucosamine/Chondroitin supplement. I give my dog 500mg Glucosamine plus 200mg Chondroitin, and she weighs 28lbs.
Avatar f tn She has seen many doctors, has had x-rays, MRIs, and one arthroscopy surgery on her knee. She has soft cartilage in her knees. She tried taking glucosamine but found no relief after 6 months so she stopped taking it. She cries to me almost every night. We are beside ourselves. What will she be like in her 40s,50s,etc? Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be?
1232362 tn?1333135406 re starting to get some colder weather here in the NE, my older cat Spirit is starting to limp again and favor her right front leg; we suspect arthritis in her little old bones. We massage her every night which she seems to like-she only limps when it's cold out. Are there any supplements we can give her or anything else we can do to keep her comfy and happy?
Avatar f tn I take 100 mcg of synthetic thyroxine daily for hypothyroidism. I also have arthritis in my fingers, which is getting worse. A friend advised me to take glucosamine but considering it is made from the shells of sea creatures I wonder whether it contains iodine. Does anyone know if it would effect the thyroxine?
Avatar f tn There is no arthritis in my family and feel that for most of my life have eaten properly. I have arthritis in my hip. Can you tell me what the difference is between taking Glucosamine Chondroitin & MSM, and Apple Cider Vinegar with the mother as a treatment, how each one works against arthritis, and which is the best to use, as I've had both work well (esp the ACV), but the MSM is expensive, but the ACV has negative side effects. Thank you for your time to reply.
Avatar m tn Pt. II -- Other ideas are chondrointon and glucosamine sulfate, which help some, don't help others. Some also find help by avoiding foods in the nightshade family. Lots of research to do.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have within the last year started to develop what I am sure must be some form of arthritis in my hands. Let me say first I used computers for quite a few years and think this may have lead to it or contributed to it. I Also played a lot of fingerstyle guitar as well. Within the last year my fingers in my hand have started to kind of tighten up and are slowly bending down. My left hand I can hold the fingers completely straight and they stay that way most of the day as well.
Avatar m tn From 3 to 4 days, when i wake up in the morning, i fill pain in center part of the chest and in back( in both side of spinal cord). I think it is muscular pain. But the strange is that when i get up from the bed, pain stops suddenly everyday. please help me.
Avatar n tn So I was just doing some research for another post on post viral arthritis. It is a kind of arthritis that can set in after you have a virus or the flu. I read that it takes several weeks to months to resolve. I immediately thought of you. Ask your doctor about this type of arthritis and please let us know what you find out.
Avatar n tn My father was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis shortly after WWII. He developed it shortly after being shipped back from England in a coma with a very high temperature. He had the usual symptoms of RA but it was not symetrical. It affected different joints on either side of the body. He died in 1965. About a year before he died, he developed unusual symptoms- loss of taste, areas of de-pigmentation etc.
