scolded me for stopping the med, and insists that I continue to give him Glucophage. The Dr. says that the Glucophage will serve as an appetite suppresant as well as help control the blood sugars. Have you ever heard of other children being prescribed Glucophage in addition to other insulin? What are the facts on Glucophage and juveniles?

Hi, I am taking Glucophage (slow release Metformin) and have just been prescribed Januvia to take also. I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them, the plus side is that I have lost weight so am very happy about that but wondered if anyone else has experienced the stomach pain and if so how long did it take for it to subside. If anyone has any advice etc I would be so grateful.

I actually find that the thyroxine makes me extremely emotionally vulnerable, I have put on weight, my skin is dry and flaky, I suffer from joint pain and life has just generally become much less bearable. They keep on adjusting my dose. Can I expect this to ease, or will it be like this forever?

She had them both biopsied and they are benign. She was being treated with a low dose of levothyroxine to see if that would aid in causing the nodule to shrink, this did not work. The nodule now is about 4cm & so she was referred to an endocrinologist. I have PCOS and was put on Metformin at 1500 mg every day. My doctor had me on a lower dose and just before we got ready to begin the IUI the doctor upped my doseage. He was hoping to get me up to 2000 mg. but so far 1500 is all I can handle. It has also helped me to lose weight (21 pounds so far) and my nurse at the fertility doctor's said that it has kept the "ring" of cysts that would usually form around my ovaries away.

For some it will have the opposite effect. Also the max dose is 10mg so I would be really careful with that.

I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.

I used birth control pills for a year of which i had a regular cycle. I stopped using the pills after i got married and my cycle became very irregular. Since then, i've been unable to conceive. I started by monitering my diet and still I needed medication, so my doctor prescribed me with Glucophage XR 500mg, 2 pills a day taken at same time.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2005. I really want to lose weight and I know I gotta take the Metformin but it makes me very nauseous. She said that I still not a type 2 diabetic but just to be safe she told me to start taking glucophage once a day for 1 week and increase to 2x a day after that. Then I will repeat my tests in January. Should I start taking the meds as she prescribe. I am not overweight and no one in my family is diabetic.
