Avatar f tn I have since been dianosed with PCOS and undergoing treatment with glucophage/metformin. I am also being treated for hypertension. Since the treatment for the PCOS began, my breakouts with the Scleritis have decreased. However, when I'm not taking the metformin, I almost immediately get scleritis attacks. Does anyone know if there is a connection with the two? Also is there a way to remove the swelling in the white of my eye? it is lingering longer than usual and my vision is affected.

256553 tn?1258883918 If you go to any website on infertility or pcos it will discuss the use of Metformin. I have been on Metformin for pcos and have been on it for one year. It has corrected my FSH & LH levels and helped me to lose 25 lbs without hardly trying. The Metformin sensitizes the cells to insulin therefore lowering the body's production of insulin, which also then reduces androgen production. Once this happens, ovulation often resumes. I beleive that this is particular with pcos conditions.

Avatar f tn I have PCOS too. I was diagnosed with it about 8 years ago. In dealing with my PCOS I've found that there is nothing predictable about it. At the heart of the matter, PCOS is an endocrine disorder, which basically means it messes with your hormones big time. It actually goes a LOT deeper than that and is something which I cannot fully explain because I just don't fully understand it. Nor do any of the experts so how can we?
Avatar n tn My doc say that I have PCOS, irregular periods ( from childhood), metabolic syndrome and other symptoms. It's seems to be hereditary. She prescribed Glucophage, and I took 2 tab each 500 for a year. Did not cure me, infact I felt worst. I also have high cholesterol, but don't eat meat and jog 3 miles almost 5 times a week. I am prediabetic and very likely to get heart disease stroke and other fatal complications as I grow older. Please advise me how to cure PCOS.

Avatar n tn I went to my OBGYN and we figured out that I was not ovulating every month so we did Clomid for 3 months and I ovulated 2 of the 3 times. The OBGYN refered us to an RE. Both my husband and I had all the testing including semen analysis (normal), I had the tube test (normal) all the blood work (normal), ultrasounds (normal) so the plan was to do Clomid days 3-7 then one shot of Menopur and then Ovidrel to trigger after ultrasound to see how many follicles I had.
623922 tn?1223406991 My DH and I have been ttc for over 2 years. I have been diagnosed with mild PCOS and mild endometriosis. I've been through one unsuccessful fresh and frozen ivf cycle. Because I can't afford to go through another round of ivf right now my gyn prescribed 500mg of Metformin to help with ovulation. I know that I ovulate but she thinks the Metformin/Glucophage might help me. Has anyone been on Metformin that can tell me what to expect?
Avatar f tn Glucophage affects the action of insulin and is useful in reducing a number of the symptoms and complications of PCOS and also useful in the management of irregular periods, ovulation induction, weight loss, prevention of type 2 diabetes, and prevention of gestational diabetes mellitus in women with PCOS. Weight loss can help reduce or prevent many of the complications associated with PCOS. You can discuss these treatment options with a gynecologist/ endocrinologist and start the treatment.
