scolded me for stopping the med, and insists that I continue to give him Glucophage. The Dr. says that the Glucophage will serve as an appetite suppresant as well as help control the blood sugars. Have you ever heard of other children being prescribed Glucophage in addition to other insulin? What are the facts on Glucophage and juveniles?
Do not however take the drug called glipizide, class is sulfonureas. This drug makes your pancreas put out more insulin (and although it can help normalise blood sugars), it may make your pancreas 'burn out' sooner.

You need to see your Dr about this. if it is due to insulin resistance a drug called glucophage / metformin can be useful.
She went to her doctor for a routine visit and was very worried about her numbers so the doctor gave her xanax and glucophage. I took birth-control pills so that I can have a normal period but then my Doctor prescribed me to take Glucophage 500 mg twice a day after food but it has side effects like dizziness, nausea, low blood pressure and diarrehea... I went to pharmacies and asked about the medicine ( Glocophage), they say its good but it is not making me feel good. The last pharmacy I went to suggested that I should take Glucophage XR. I still didnt take it, Im still using Glucophage.
For type 2 the root cause is typically insulin resistance. If you are type 2 a drug like metformin / Glucophage, an insulin sensitizer may be useful.
REs usually do a lot more monitoring than OBs do. As far as Metformin, it's a Class B drug and has not been shown to cause birth defects. I actually was on it up until my 34th week. My baby wasn't born with any defects. Metformin has been shown to actually be extremely helpful when combined with Clomid for women with PCOS. It has even been used to help prevent miscarriages in women with PCOS.
Are you using OPKs to track ovulation? This could be a great help for you.
I started by monitering my diet and still I needed medication, so my doctor prescribed me with Glucophage XR 500mg, 2 pills a day taken at same time.
You may ask your doctor to prescribe an insulin sensitizer drug such as metformin / Glucophage. This can be very useful for many.

She said that I still not a type 2 diabetic but just to be safe she told me to start taking glucophage once a day for 1 week and increase to 2x a day after that. Then I will repeat my tests in January. Should I start taking the meds as she prescribe. I am not overweight and no one in my family is diabetic.

Also Glucophage affects the action of insulin and is useful in reducing a number of the symptoms and complications of PCOS and also useful in the management of irregular periods, ovulation induction, weight loss, prevention of type 2 diabetes, and prevention of gestational diabetes mellitus in women with PCOS. You can discuss about this drug with your gynecologist.
my husband has recently started glucophage he is having abdominal pain and sweats and headaches and nervous spells throughout the day. He is not having huge spike in his blood sugars. Should his body adjust to the medicine?
All 3 meds mentioned are class C drugs, which means none have been tested on pregnant women, but have shown to cause defomities or problems in laboratory animals. I would strongly think twice about getting pregnant while being on all of these meds. Ask yourself if the benefits out weigh the risks.
