2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar n tn is glipizide 10mg the same as glyburide 5mg / because my husband was drinking the gyburide and when we went for the new prescription it had changed to glipizide and he hasn't felt good since the change do i call his doctor
Avatar f tn I also did not do well with the Glipizide. Eventually I went on 1000mg twice a day Janumet, and 2.5XL Glipizide, it worked for a while. I recently gained 8 lbs. but not sure it was the glipizide. On my second day of Victoza, so far ok. Interested to hear what kind of reaction you had to Victoza.
647391 tn?1275016633 "Do you take Glipizide once a day? " Yes, usually around 5-6am. I eat breakfast 30-45 minutes later. "If so, what is your blood sugars at the end of day." <120 mg/dl "I think the glipizide helps, but doesn't last the day." Don't rely on medications to do all the work for you. There there to 'help' you. Do you exercise and break sweat for 60 minutes daily? Are you at normal body weight? Are you eating a proper diabetic diet?
Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Avatar m tn Get a new Doctor if you can. Another thought, 1 Glipizide may simply not be enough. When I was first diagnosed as Diabetic, 2 Glipizide was the very first med I was given. It was not until I kept eating **** that I got the scrip for the Metformin. Being a Type 2 Diabetic is a pain in the Butt believe me but it can be controlled. Once again get a new doc, make sure that when you have the A1C test that you are fasting.
4117735 tn?1349962369 Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
Dog If you were my patient, I would advise you that Metformin typically does not drop blood sugar. If you are on a combination of medications, it could be that the combination was responsible for the drop, OR that your lack of eating caused the sugar level to dip. It will be important to report all of you sugar levels to your doctor, but I would not recommend stopping or changing medications. Good luck!
Avatar f tn so that tells me that the meds are not working. i have tracked my blood sugar reading for the past 2 wks after adding on the new med and still no change. i have an appointment with my doctor on monday and if she can't figure this out, then i'm going to ask her to send me to an endocrinologist. i have high cholestrol and thyroid problems. my last blood work in december showed my thyroid has good levels and the meds is working.
Avatar f tn To offer counterpoint to FlGuy’s experience, I had to increase my Lantus insulin dosage to 110 units toward the end of treatment; insulin wasn’t working very well. I was already maxed out on Glipizide, Metformin, and Actos as well. Post treatment, I continue to use the oral drugs, but no longer require *any* insulin… pretty cool stuff.
Avatar n tn I have elevated liver enzymes due to hepatic adenoma. Currently taking glipizide for high blood sugar, but is causing side effects. Weight gain, extreme low blood sugar, restless sleep. What can I take instead that will not affect the liver?
Avatar f tn When was the last time your husband saw his doctor for a complete health checkup? With blood sugar levels always over 250 tells us he's not managing his diabetes well. Why don't you ask his doctor to refer him to a local hospital that holds diabetes education classes?
341655 tn?1240368839 What did I say to offend you? Please reread your post for when you say, "I am taking medications for it...glipizide or some type of pill like that" infers to not knowing. What kind of statement is "some kind of pill like that!" And that's what I questioned. The quality and quantity of information in your post is the only thing we can go by. Saying to you to call your doctor today came at you the wrong way? Sorry, I will ignore further posts from you.
Avatar f tn can the medication Glipizide for diabetes interfere with the orasure test results? can anyone seroconvert after 14 weeks?
Avatar n tn I'm a novice when it comes to diabetes so I could use some help. I'm on 2.5mg of Glipizide and have been for about four years. My doctor discourages blood glucose testings -- says that's only necessary if I were on insulin. However, I will occasionally check my blood sugar -- maybe once or twice a month or if I'm not feeling well. I checked it on Sunday and found it was running somewhat high.
Avatar f tn d pass them before they had a chance to do their work! I am not sure if the two are related, the diarrhea and new dose of medication. Perhaps if you get the diarrhea under control, the new dose and slow release tab will again be a viable option for you. Anyway, keep us posted on it!
Avatar f tn No not yet i have an app in a couple of days
1274110 tn?1270788561 I came off of Imdur 60 mg twice a day and a nitro patch. It was working but now I get real bad heartburn and my GERD (acid reflux) is back. Has any one had a similar experience? Here is a listing of my meds. Any help appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hello.........you are not alone...I have been having effects of metformin and glipizide since May 27, 2015. I am going into the clinic tomorrow. My pharmacist said "oh there is a bug going around". This is clearly not a bug this is either the meds are in too warm of a temperature and not being as effective or I've got another kidney infection. Been up with abdominal pain, bloating, gas ..just can't get comfortable and my numbers are not coming down as fast as they were.
