Here's the long url http://surgery.about.com/od/beforesurgery/ss/DiabetesSurgery.htm After 8 years, I recently switched from Metformin to Glipizide. I was getting erratic fasting levels, some as high as 170 mg/dl. Levels are now <120 mg/dl.
4117735 tn?1349962369 Is it OK to double, or tipple, your medication? I take Glipizide 10 mg. The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
Avatar n tn am now taking glipizide 5 mg along with colestipol 1gr twice daily and gabapentin 300mg 3 times daily and my blood sugar levels are staying high. First time on all these meds and my sugar levels were fine on lisonpril. Could one of thse being causing the high readings. My diet is the same if not lower in sugar and calories.
2053416 tn?1330411192 I also take glipizide. The gulmetza does not seem to be working for me. My sugars are in the 200 + - range. Is there another generation 1 or 2 diabetes medicine that I can take with the glipizide that will work as good as the actos did and not cost so much? I would like to get off the glumetza. I am really thinking about asking the doctor to put me back on insulin (novolin R). Thank you for your input.
Avatar f tn In addition he was also given medication for Diabetes Type II, metformin 850 mg, glipizide 5mg, lisinopril 5 mg, simvastatin 20mg, Asprin 81 mg, Ranitidine 150 mg. Additionally he was also prescribed Naproxen 500mg and Alumina Magnesia 360 ml. I think this is too much medication. Any suggestions? The pain meds are for arthritic hip and knee and rotator cuff surgery.

Avatar f tn Hi, I recently went on glipizide after a very bad reaction to victoza. I was losing weight, but now the glipizide is keeping me at the same weight. Has anyone had the experience that is the same? and is there a lower does that anyone has still been able to lose weight with? and yes I'm on a low carb diet and excercise plan. I'm doing better with this than I did before and I lost 33 pounds. It's the glipizide.
Avatar n tn I also take 500mg metformin after a meal(breakfast and dinner) and was advised to take 5mg glipizide before meals (breakfast and lunch) but sometimes I measure my bs before and notice it's sometimes 70-90 . A little about me: I don't eat at regular intervals, I don't snack , I have 3 meals a day . Wake up at 530 go to work, eat breakfast at 9 and then my lunch around 12 , dinner between 5-630. No snacks. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Avatar n tn I already take 500 mg Metaformin, 2 tablets twice daily plus Gliclazide 30 mg, once a day. I don't always remember to take them and some days, I eat sweets. I 've learned to eat a vegetable broth soup with a dribbled egg, for 2-3 days to help bring my sugars down. Yes, it works. Talk to your Dr and see if there's options to permitted 'doseage' you're allowed. He may offer a new amount.

4812794 tn?1359497146 I was maintaining my blood sugar between 80 - 120, only taking Glipizde 5 mg twice a day. I was having a problem with my toes on my left foot, so my doctor gave me Lyrica. After about a week my blood sugar went way up. Talked to my doctor and he said to quit taking Lyrica. My blood sugar never came back down, after several months of closely monitoring what I ate and increasing my Glipizide to 2 tablets twice a day. Nothing, still high.
Tbd I take Metformin Extended Release 1000 mg two times a day and Glipizide 10mg two times a day. Still the numbers are almost same at 170 and sometimes crossing 200. I do moderate exercise. Any suggestions?

Avatar n tn I'm a novice when it comes to diabetes so I could use some help. I'm on 2.5mg of Glipizide and have been for about four years. My doctor discourages blood glucose testings -- says that's only necessary if I were on insulin. However, I will occasionally check my blood sugar -- maybe once or twice a month or if I'm not feeling well. I checked it on Sunday and found it was running somewhat high.
647391 tn?1275016633 Is there any hope of bringing it down. I just take a low dose of glipizide in the morning. I was changed to this from glimpride 3 months ago.

Avatar f tn can the medication Glipizide for diabetes interfere with the orasure test results? can anyone seroconvert after 14 weeks?
Avatar f tn I have been on 2500 mg of Metformin for 13 years now due to being insulin resistant BC of Polycystic ovarian syndrome. Have been on several other medications for insulin resistance that did not work. The Metformin doesn't really work but works better than anything else I've ever been on. My sugar still runs 200 after fasting for 12 hours. Are there any tests that can be done to tell if you really need insulin?
Avatar f tn re taking more than 600 mg calcium, it should be split into 2 doses, since the body can only absorb 600 mg at one time - you can take 600 mg at dinner time and 600 mg at bedtime. There's no need to limit dairy to dinner time... that amount of calcium isn't going to affect your thyroid med, unless you're drinking an entire gallon milk or something outrageous. It's perfectly okay to have a cup of milk with cereal, milk in your coffee, cook with it, etc.
Avatar m tn That happened to me with metformin and my doctor switched me to glipizide. Now my numbers are going in the right direction. I think you need to complain to your doctor and find what works for you.
