Avatar f tn course treatment for active TB is isoniazid, rifampicin, pyrazinamide, and ethambutol for two months, then isoniazid and rifampicin alone for a further four months. The patient is considered cured at six months (although there is still a relapse rate of 2 to 3%). 2HREZ/4HR3 means isoniazid(H), rifampicin(R), ethambutol(E), pyrazinamide(Z) daily for two months, followed by four months of isoniazid and rifampicin given three times a week. http://en.wikipedia.

Avatar m tn As per medical guidelines it is highly recommended to use antibiotics (isoniazid and rifampicin altogether for six months) to kill Tuberculosis bacteria .. however, this person is under entecavir 0.5 for a year .. and is written in isoniazid sheet it is may harm liver .. what is your recommendations?
Avatar m tn Normally you have to take isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide for 2-3 months titrated properly for your weight and then followed by only isoniazid and rifampicin. Go for follow up X-rays to confirm proper healing of your bone. You can have some side effects with use of antitubercular medications. Take care!
Avatar f tn I believe you are referring to a fecal transplant - a procedure not FDA approved. I asked about this in a Crohn's and Colitis forum a few days ago with several expert physicians. Their response is that the extreme doses of antibiotics to completely clear out all bacteria in the GI tract is extremely dangerous - possibly deadly. Much research also suggests that the bacteria in our GI has developed over our lifetime and removing it could cause more auto-immune issues than it fixes.
988072 tn?1249348917 Hello! You should take anti tubercular drugs for 6 months or maximum 7 months. Should not take single drugs as you may develop resistance. 4 drugs for 2 months and in some resistant cases 1 month extra and 2 drugs (Isoniazid & Rifampicin for 4 months. Follow up with an orthopedician treating tubercular cases. Take care!

Avatar n tn On a different note, I had MRSA and had taken Rifampicin and Septra at the same time for 2 weeks to kick that infection.During this same time I was military deployed and drank alcohol with those meds when it told me not to. Stupid I know! Could those antibiotics have caused my liver tests to elevate like that or do I really need to be worried! Sincerely Freaked out!
Avatar n tn 07 to drain out abscess and also bone/tissue sample of affected region was sent for biopsy which revealed that TB was sensitive to rifampicin, ethambutol, isoniazid and streptomycin. Accordingly, I was administered streptomycin injection (1 gm) for 100 days along with the above medicines (i.e. rifampicin 600mg, ethambutol 800mg, isoniazid 450mg, pyrizinamide 1500mg).
Avatar f tn It could also be due to drugs such as Rifampicin, multivitamins etc. Finally, it could just be a concentrated urine where due to poor water intake, the urine concentrates and becomes yellow or dark orange in colour. If the urine examination was normal i.e. there was no presence of blood, crystals in the urine examination then these are the things that should be ruled out....So my question is are you taking multi vitamins ??
Avatar n tn Last year, she had the tuberculosis removed by surgery, then had taken isoniazid and rifampicin for one year. But she got the disease back this year again when she stopped taking the medicines, and it looks like more seriously this time. And the doctor she have been seen has no good solution so far. Could someone here give her any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Treatment is by giving daily therapy of rifampicin (R), isoniazid (H), pyrazinamide (Z) and ethambutol (E) for 2 months followed by daily 4 month therapy of rifampicin (R) and isoniazid (H). Alternatively 2 months intensive phase of RHZE can be daily followed by alternate day combination phase (RH) of 4 months. Three weekly dosing throughout therapy (RHZE thrice weekly for 2 months followed by RH thrice weekly for 4 months) can be given as directly observed treatment short-course.
Avatar n tn and even that was the result of my sputum test, they still refer me to take medicines such as rifampicin, isoniazid. pyrazinamide and ethambuthol hydrochloride tablets usp....for now, they gave me medicines for 2 months...they told me those medicines that they gave me help clear those lesion inside my lungs...what can u suggest or comment about this, doctor?..
Avatar m tn nothing chronic about it other than the length it went without effective antibiotics. I myself cleared it with Moxifloxacin and Rifampicin My test was repeated negative until I joined a research study for unable to be identified bacterial prostatitis.
1447695 tn?1284639293 National Jewish Health, Aug 08, 2008 11:39AM Discoid atelectasis refers to collapse of a small portion of lung and/or fibrosis of that piece of lung. It is common and almost always of no clinical significance. The "fibrotic stranding" may represent thickening of the normal septal lines. The septa are normal structures that compartmentalize lung lobes and lobules. The thickening can be caused by fluid or scarring.

Avatar n tn For widespread or stubborn infections, itraconazole tablets have shown good results in curative aspects, but avoid its interaction with other drugs like antacids, astemizole, phenytoin and rifampicin. Most patient think the treatment has not worked if their pale patches do not disappear straight away. Please remember that the patches will take a long time to disappear and the treatment does not equate with disappearance.
