Avatar f tn Could I be hypoglycemic? I normally try to avoid sugar because unless I eat it along side a heavy non sugar meal I get this reaction..even in the smallest quantities. Example yesterday I had 4 candy corn and 1/2 a serving of mini wheat's and my body began to freak out a couple hours latter.
Avatar f tn Was that a glucose tolerance test? What was the normal range? What does the 37 signify? Was that your actual blood sugar level? Your symptoms indicate that you might need an adjustment in your thyroid medication. Do you have current lab results on your thyroid levels? That be, at least, Free T3, Free T4 and TSH. Please post the reference ranges, along with any results, as the ranges vary from lab to lab, so must come from your own report.
Avatar n tn Dear spindoc88, I am so sorry to hear of your recent hospitalization due to a hypoglycemic seizure. This is a great fear of many diabetics and their families. I know this because my daughter experienced one 14 years ago, during the first year after her diagnosis at 21 months of age. She has not experienced any seizures since that time. Any information I pass on to you is based on my own personal experience and knowledge of diabetes, as I am not a medical professional.
Avatar n tn My aunt is hypoglycemic she always carries with her little ham sandwiches, peanut butter sandwiches. She watches her sugar intake, and seems to be doing well. It might help to see a nutritionist to get some info and help.
4437866 tn?1388119624 m on a funky diet thing due to me being hypoglycemic... so the day I break out of here IN-N-OUT and Starbucks it is lol...
Avatar f tn I'm actually 17 and I'm hypoglycemic. So I'm used to dizziness I just eat some peanut butter and move on but I'm dizzy 5 or 6x a day. I'm 5 weeks and some days along, is this normal? Is the baby okay in there ? Does being hypoglycemic mean I'm more likely to get gestational diabetes?
130737 tn?1214861465 Actually I am hypoglycemic, but i have never been pregnant. can being hypoglycemic cause you to have hot flashes and swell?
Avatar n tn I asked my endo about this when victim to lots of hypos during those years (thankfully history now) and discovered that some diabetics find that the large vessels connecting to the heart can actually start to spasm during a severe hypoglycemic reaction. Obviously, a severe hypoglycemic reaction that is not corrected can lead to cardiac arrest, so other heart-related symptoms can be present in cases of severe hypoglycemia.
1770925 tn?1365618522 I am not a diabetic but I have hypoglycemic symptoms and have nerve damage from peripheral neuropathy and take Warfrin for AFIB. I am able to exist by using a low sugar diet and eating a six meal diet eating something every three hours including at night. After three hours without food my blood sugar causes me to have hypoglycemic attacks, I am almost a cripple then, but am ok after eating sugar. My problem is finding a doctor that can assist me with these problems.
Avatar f tn If she is hypoglycemic and went without food for awhile, yes, she certainly could be experiencing confusion from very low blood sugar. The important question is did it go away when she ate? If not, then she should see her doctor.
Avatar m tn Almost two weeks ago I got this feeling when I would walk, I felt light headed and very fatigued and my a feeling of unbalanced.. Recently I noticed that those symptoms only fade away when I eat something.. So I checked dr google and saw that I be hypoglycemic??.. I don't know if this clears me out of me being hypoglycemic but I had a meal and four hours later once I started to feel my symptoms return I checked my blood sugar and it was 102...
369861 tn?1306275686 I am right now hypothyroid and hypoglycemic along with low potassium which hospitalized me this week. Please tell me there is help for me here or point me in the right direction. I'm being told that I need to eat 5-6 small meals a day. More protien than starches. I'm not a big eater but I seem to retain the weight no matter what I do. The big gain started about 2 years ago. Any ideas on how to handle the two issues at one time.
Avatar f tn Two more thoughts. A lot of people don't take hypoglycemia seriously as I'm sure you have noticed over the years. I have to admit I was one of those people who thought people were just complaining. Then I was in Costa Rica with a friend and her husband. We had a hard time finding a place we wanted to have lunch and then the service was very slow so we were starving. I am a Type 1 diabetic, my friend's husband is a Type 2 diabetic and my friend also said she was hypoglycemic.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I'm a type 1 diabetic and I had a severe hypoglycemic episode 2 days ago while I was sleeping, requiring my wife to give me glucagon. It was three days after a previous episode (also sleeping), and I am still feeling a bit "foggy." I feel woozy and vaguely off-balance, and the closest analogy I can give to the feeling is that of a vicious, vicious hangover.
Avatar f tn My test levels are always hypoglycemic when I eat right so I stopped my diet and eat most of what I want except anything with sugar, and most of the time stay away from fast carbs. Despite not sticking to the strict diet my sugar levels are now normal. I'm so confused by all of this. I know the inns and outs of the disorder, I know my test results aren't really making sense. Has anybody else struggled with this disorder so I don't feel so alone here. Wish I knew what was going on.
Avatar n tn Yes, your blood sugar could be too high. OR it could also be running too low after you eat. Both situations can cause splitting headaches. You could be what is called a 'reactive hypoglycemic' -- a situation whereby if a person eats something with a high glycemic index, their body over-produces insulin to correct the glucose and the person ends up hypoglycemic. Check out www.hypoglycemia.
757137 tn?1347196453 The chicken or the egg? Are we hypoglycemic because we drank too much, or do we drink too much because we are hypoglycemic? I know what you mean about the sugar, and I ate more of it in the early days of sobriety. The cravings for extra sweets gradually subsided with more sober time. But to be honest, I used alcohol as an escape more than anything else. And I could never do that with a candy bar.
Avatar n tn Is there any way to speed recovery to an attack, defined as a time where after about 30 mins to an hour after eating, you feel horrible (exhausted, zero concentration, difficulty breathing yet O2 levels are fine, have hypoglycemic symptoms but blood sugar is fine)? Is there anything one can eat or drink that will flush whatever food (the milk in the breakfast cereal maybe, it didn't bother me yesterday) out of the system?
Avatar n tn t really made myself go and get one but i had blood work done because the doctor thought i was hypoglycemic its scary i have alot of those symptoms of being hypoglycemic and also anemic so i better get that physical done. what do they do in a physical?
Avatar f tn My story dates back to 2009 or so. Prior to experiencing the hypoglycemic symptoms which affect me to this day, I will give you some background information on my life in the years 2008-2009. This was a moment of my life where I recall experiencing water retention, severe fatigue, and rapid weight loss at one point. Furthermore, I experienced bone (or joint pain), and what appeared to be shrinking bone mass from my clavicle region and hip bones, although this appeared to stop shortly after.
Avatar f tn I am little confused after reading some info on Diabetes & Hypoglycemia. I have been told I am Insulin resistant & Hypoglycemic.....does this mean I am borderline Diabetic? I am 37 years old. I am on Metformin twice a day....any info would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I experience drunken like behavior when I am hypoglycemic and having problems with frequent low sugars. Make sure he tests his sugars at least 4 times a day and when he experiences symptoms. Have him eat protein with his carbohydrates so that he does not have abrupt drops in glucose levels. Tell him if he wants to prevent lows to cut out the alcohol. Alcohol can cause or impair someone's ability to realize that they are going low.
