Avatar f tn m worried about the pain involved with this surgery as well as the iv sedation. I do not have a high pain tolerance and have been told that i will need pain medicine for the first few days. I was also told that being an addict it takes more anesthesia to get to where they want me to be. I'm vey nervous I'm fairly new to the program...Help.
490443 tn?1236648256 She talked to the anesthesiologist and so did I before the surgery. He suctioned my sinuses while I was out of it and I felt great after. He didn't want me coughing or sneezing for a few days and it worked great. Saline nasal mists work well too. FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED FOR MONDAY!
Avatar f tn Just diagnosed two months ago with pvc's and they are basically non-stop. Have been referred to a heart specialist but haven't been able to get the appt. yet. I was planning to have sinus recostructive surgery on my nose in April, can someone with pvc's still have surgery and will doctors in a private clinic perform a procdure like this knowing I have been experiencing this problem. Thanks.
255163 tn?1376869746 t really understand the doc not wanting to do the surgery. I had bypass surgery and got 2 stents installed while on Plavix with no problems at all. I think the risk is controlling the bleeding, but it must not really be that big a problem. Gall bladder removal is not the big deal it used to be. One lady I know had it done and just spent one night in the shop--almost like an outpatient surgery--and she was on Plavix. I think they had her not take it just for a day or two before the surgery.
Avatar n tn so my question is, are you sure you want to go through the surgery? Ive heard so many mixed results from people having back and neck surgery. some people wish they had never had it done, that it made them worse etc. So my question is, if your pain is being well controlled with a non narcotic right now, why risk it? Im sure there must be more to your story- are your bad discs in danger of causing major damage if left alone or something?
Avatar n tn I am 29 and have asthma. I had surgery six weeks ago for the removal of my polyps. I was told they are already growing back. I have taken every medication possible (steroids, antibot's and sprays). Is there anything else I can possibly try? I am so upset about this. I have lost two jobs and have no hope of ever feeling better. Nothing seems to work. I have chronic sinus infections constantly and horrible headaches that never go away. Please help!
Avatar f tn Just like you I did several cycles of clomid prior to the surgery but those were definitely a waste of time and money. You should seriously talk to your doctor before taking more clomid. Good luck!
540822 tn?1313086322 How long does the oncologist generally wait between surgery (hysterectomy) and chemotherapy?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much. My liver is stage 2 Fibrosis and the minor surgery is on my foot correcting a toe bone that is pushing through the bottom of my foot causing much pain walking. I did tell the doctor I had HCV but don't know how aware he will be in post surgical monitoring. I'll call his office Monday and ask. Thanks again.
647391 tn?1275016633 I appreciate your response a lot. I agree with the glucose values you say. I have those type of numbers. It is pretty common for me to have them. I was switched to glipizide a couple months ago. I wonder if it is the right med for me. I tried to go the website you recommended and did not have success getting there. Once thanks for the response.
Avatar f tn We usually admit the patients 3 days prior to the surgery when we withhold coumadin and start heparin once the INR is less than 2.0. After surgery we usually start the heparin 12 hours after the surgery and coumadin shortly thereafter. The patient usually don't leave the hospital until their INR above 2.0. These are not hard and fast rules, and some physicians are more careful than others.
222267 tn?1253302210 t know jack about making me manic or depressed. I will call my doc tomorrow and find out and just let him know what's going on.
Avatar f tn It will not offend the doctor...afterall you are looking out for you. Surgery is a serious thing and not to be taken lightly.
Avatar f tn I just had PPV with gas bubble done on my right eye 3 months ago and I am scared that the surgery will cause my retina to detach again. 6) are there really no drops or injections, etc that can be done instead of surgery? 7) when is it too long to wait to get an ERM surgery? I also read that one shouldnt wait too long to get it done, otherwise, the surgery might not work or the scar might harden too much for it to be removed? Is this statement true as well.
142722 tn?1281533616 s a major surgery and very painful!!!! But I spoke openly w/ my ob about it and we have discussed a semi-plan seeing how good/bad shape I'm in..I will only be on the percs for short period if doable then switch right to ib 800"s not sure if that will cut it for the pain but I don't want to be sent home w/ a bottle of pain killers!!!
1087766 tn?1256642989 I've had Crohn's all my life but only diagnosed in 2007. I am in the midst of having a flare and have been for the past 4/5 months! i have seen my consultant and he has decided to put me on Humira at home which i am glad as i don't have a car to go to the hospital every 2 weeks. So i am kind of happy. Basically I was wondering about surgery as I have read many good reviews on re sectioning.
Avatar n tn I also have an upcoming surgery for prostate problems, specifically BPH, and the urologist has asked me to not take the xanax after midnight the night before the surgery. Its also unclear to me when I would be able to resume taking it after the surgery. It seems to depend on the anesthesia, pain medications, which can vary, so forth. I am quite concerned about xanax withdrawal before and after the surgery. I know it can be severe, both from personal experience and from reading.
Avatar f tn Sept. 07- 1st surgery, Jan.08 slurred speech 1 1/2 weeks , cognitive difficulties, depression , optic nerve damage , double vision March 08-2nd surgery, May 08 lightheadedness (continued for 8 months) July 08 cervical disc bulge, ( left arm weak, numb to fingers, pain) stabbing pains random and for no reason all throughout body, noise intolerance , unexplained and uncontrollable weepiness, I cried over everything.
Avatar f tn Everyone is different, but my surgery was relatively easy, recovery was pretty quick and my scar is small and faint. I even went to a dance class the night after. Make sure you ask your surgeon all the questions you may have related to the procedure, recovery and the diagnosis.
Avatar n tn I have an open ulcer from a surgery that is three years old now. It never healed and my local hospital lost its Podiatry staff that did the surgery intialy. I have been seeing a wound care nurse all this time with no closure to the open, draining wound. I live in rural Maine and didnt have the resource to travel into Portland. I have a reliable vehical now and have schedualed to see a podiatrist, but nobody has opening till next month.
Avatar f tn Will A Doctor perscribe Subutex and Pain Medication together before a surgery? I have a friend who is an addict but she is telling me that her doctor is giving her one Subutex a day with pain medication before surgery. She claims that the doctor wants her to take the subutex still once a day so that while shes taking the pain medication she wont become addicted. I think her story is a big lie but im wondering what your thoughts are..
Avatar f tn I am also reluctant to have them remove a lymp node during surgery and I definately have decided not to follow up with radiation. The downside of six and a half weeks of radiation, in my opinion, far outweighs the lower chance of the cancer coming back in ten to twenty years that radiation offers. I don't know if the surgeon will even be willing to keep me as a patient since I am not going along with all the recommendations but you have convinced me to make my follow up appointment.
Avatar f tn My appt with the surgeon for a consult is not for another week. Has anyone had this type of surgery and how long was the recovery period? I am wondering if it is feasible to do this on a friday and be back to work on monday? FYI: I work in a dental office and I have to work on patients with my arms raised.
Avatar m tn I have to have arthroscopic hip surgery to repair a labrum tear and impingement. I called my cardiologist and asked him if it was okay for surgery, and he said yes. The thing is, my achy episodes are happening a lot more frequently. Are there any risks to having the surgery that I should be concerned about?
Avatar m tn Hello, First of all, definitely tell them when you get to surgery about the Suboxone. I had minor surgery scheduled back in June and when I wrote down on the pre-op forms that I took Suboxone daily, they would NOT do the surgery that day as they were not prepared to put me fully out, etc.
Avatar m tn I was then advised to take an antibiotic, and a fat-free diet while waiting to repeat the ultrasound that I repeated a few days later and from which it emerged: "Gallbladder in place, inside large colaculus with clear cone of rear shadow with a diameter of 2.1x0.8x0.7 with walls of regular thickness and free infundibulum ". The doctor then advised me to take Deursil (225mg slow release twice a day), a fat free diet and to wait for it.

Avatar f tn I had surgery in July and another to recluse the wound in August. My libido has went down since then. Now every time I have an orgasm is causes my nerves to jump in my left foot and start to tingle. Then about 10-15 minutes after the orgasm my foot starts to hurt. Is this normal ?
