m asking please if is it possable that if i take the drug sitagliptin it would mean i could reduce the gliclazide and stop the mrtformin my Diabetes is well controlled on the whole but my nurse as requested i increase the glicazide
I have recently been prescribed Metformin for type 2 diabetes and have gone from 500 mg to 1,500 mg per day. A1C and glucose is worsening despite higher dose and strict diet, exercise. Does my body have an issue with the drug? I was considering Berberine as a natural supplement instead of Metformin, thoughts?
Family History of CAD, NIDDM Type2,
I was thrombolysed with STK and managed with Heparin, Anti Platelets, nitrates, antacids, and statins. I underwent CCT Angio and the Angio findings were:
1. Calcium Score 386
2. multiple discrete hard plaques in Proximal LAD (Segment 6) with 50 to 60% focal stenosis. Soft Plaque in distal LAD (Segment 8) with 20-30% Focal Stenosis
3. Ostiproximal Soft Plaque seen in medial side branch of OM2 with 20-30% focal stenosis

Recently it was reccomended that I add to my Diabetes Type II meds regime of Glucophage (Metformin) and Diamicron MR (Gliclazide) a use of either Lamtus or Levenmir Pen Insulin Injection sytems.
Two questions:
Do you have any experience of this meds regime?
Would you see this as a non-reversable step.
I was on metformin and gliclazide before I got pregnant but they stopped the gliclazide, increased the metformin and put me on insulin, which has been increased today as my blood sugar levels are still in double figures and just too high. I've really cut down on my carbs and cut out the sweet stuff but still battling to get it down.
Ive checked with the pharmacist and the gliclazide and doxycyline are fine together. I havent went back to my reg doc to tell him about the numbers as he really doesnt seem to know much about diabetes either. In the beginning after seeing an endocronolgist i pretty much just went with what worked the best and more or less asked for what worked and thats what he gave me.
cholestrol is 144mg/dl, S.Tri is 60mg/dl, HDL is 53 and LDL is 79. S. creatinine is 1.16mg/dl. and urine report showed albumin present(++++). he is 58 years of age. now his physcian has advised him to continue the same anti-diabetic drugs. but he has prescribed him Ramitorva capsules (ramipril 5mg, atorvastatin 10mg, aspirin 75mg) Once daily. Is atorva needed in this case. do reply soon... thanking you.
I think you should take Gliclazide 80 mg 2 tablets in morning and in evening before meal and metformin 500 mg one tablet after breakfast and after dinner.
I ]He also put me on Gliclazide 80, 1-1-1 before food and Vildagliptin 50 mg 1-0-1.This started from 16th March. Now my Prednisolon tablets taper down to 30 mg instead of 60 mg.every 12 th days 5 mg Prednisolon is taper down.I gained my weight by 5 kgs and sodium liquid retention in face and on tummy.My MG is 100% in the controlled.My sugar level is fasting 70 to 160 and PP 170 to 250.Some times it goes to 340 also.I am now suffering from cough .
My blood glucose levels are relatively stable and within limits. My doctor has run tests for thyroid and anemia plus others and they have come back as negative. She now says that there are no other tests she can run. My diabetes team say they can't help as my blood glucose levels are normal.
At diagnosis my A1C was 12.8% and although my diet had been moderately healthy it was very carb heavy, possibly about 70% of more of my diet.. Now my carb intake is much lower at about 30%.
I am not able to walk much and do regular activity (NO, I am not a handicapped, I have been normal throughout my life). After my slip disc in Nov 2011, I can walk little then my foot, leg, joints and body pains, so couldn't walk & do daily activity much. I have to rest when it pains, then after resting I can walk or do activity for sometime. It’s like I am collecting energy and allowing the pain to subside by resting then I can do or walk for sometime.
Yes it's true - I'm really reaching some kind of edge again. even considered checking out this retreat but the cost was pro-hib-itive. Plus I don't really 100% believe their total philosophy, and I've already dealt with so much of what they talk about. I really do think my problems are bigger than just needing to find a life lesson, and "doing happy" etc.

I have been on a statin drug for about 15 years and ran for exercise until about 5 years ago and all I can conclude from my history is I have benefited from the statin drug via low cholesterol and not blockages and weight control and general high physical quality of life from the exercise. I'm 11 years younger than you, and I no longer run, but that is because of atrial fibrillation, not because of muscle damage due to anything other than age.

I've been to NA (and will be going back, plus years of alanon), I know all the lingo etc. I just want a damn life. Or my damn life BEFORE opiates.
Help...any advice? My newborn baby is an angel all day long sleeping/eating/being content and happy, and will take naps in his bassinet no problem. But at night he'll wake up to feed or be changed and will cry nonstop after when we try to out him back in his bassinet.
