I was diagnosed last year and was immediatley put on gleevec 400mg/day.At my last consult my metabolic stats had risen,hence blood tests to determine if the gleevec is no longer working.I am still in firstphase and wonder what my options are if the gleevec is no longer an option.Amin pretty good form,just very tired and a lot of bone pain.
I have CML and was treated with Gleevec for 4 years and achieved remission. I have for the past several months been experiencing sudden onset of weakness which last for hours, to days. My blood pressure which has remained under control for several years with atenolol has been running 145/105 and higher for the past three to four months. I have a feeling of fullness in my stomach, and I have sporatic episodes of mild coughing, this occurs maybe once a week.
Hi, I don't know the answer -- but since both CML and Gleevec toxicity produce anemia because of marrow suppression, maybe it's not possible to tell the difference. E.g., both would show a low reticulocyte count.
This full text paper on anemia from Gleevec https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ajh.23879 shows that other signs such as red blood cell size can vary, so that doesn't seem to help. Sorry.
This is a question that is almost impossible to answer. There are statistics that deal with generalities but none of them actually deal with any one specific case. I have never relied on published percentages as I feel there are too many variables in each person's cancer as well as the response to the therapy. You might search for Statistics of Survival Rates on the Internet but I wouldn't ever depend on them for myself.
I under went double mast on Jan 09 - diagnosed with Triple Negative Grade 3, stage 3, 31 out 31 + with extensive LVI with broadly positive margins as well as intralymphatic tumor. Multifocal extracapsular extension. Can't seem to get a real survival or recurrence rate, only telling me it is not good. Under went chemo and rads just finished Sept 09. Not scheduled for scans yet. What do you think?

In addition, levels of stress, immune function, will to live, and other unmeasurable factors also play a significant role in a patient’s survival.
Is it possible that after taking gleevec for only two weeks WBC droped from 36.7 to 7? All other blood counts are also came back to normal range. Could doctor make mistake in diagnosis of CML? Maybe I should get seg second opinion?
I was diagnosed with CML and given Gleevec 400 ml. After taking gleevec for 2 weeks doctor took additional blood test. My WBC dropped from 36.5 to 7.1 and all other blood counts came down to normal range. I'm wondering if gleevec could give such fast hematological response or I was possibly misdiagnosed originally. I don't and didn't have any symptoms, my spleen and liver weren't enlarged, no enlarged lymph. Should I get second opinion asap? Please, help me.
After two weeks on 400mlg gleevec my WBC droped from 36.5 to 7.1. My doctor told to come for additional test in two weeks. Now my WBC is 1.3 and absolute neutrophils count is 0.04. I was told to stay home on antibiotics. How long it may take for my counts to clime back to safe range. And of course, I'm off gleevec right now. Does it seem that dose of 400mlg is too high for me.

Hi. Various sources estimate the five year survival rate for untreated stage 4 endometrial cancer from less than 5% to 25%. The study evaluating the combination chemotherapy doxorubicin plus cisplatin for advanced stage endometrial cancer (see http://jco.ascopubs.org/cgi/content/full/24/1/36) yielded a five year survival of 50% for those treated with this drug combination. However, the women treated in that study was a mixed group who had stage 3 and stage 4 disease.
With stage IB disease, five-year survival is 57%. The five-year survival rate of patients with stage IV NSCLC is about 1%.
For small cell lung carcinoma, prognosis is also generally poor. The overall five-year survival for patients with SCLC is about 5%. Patients with extensive-stage SCLC have an average five-year survival rate of less than 1%. The median survival time for limited-stage disease is 20 months, with a five-year survival rate of 20%.
You might find he starts to be able to tolerate the pill. Gleevec is first choice for treating CML, and if he is doing good in every other way then encourage him that he is doing great.

Would she be alright. I am 36 weeks on Sunday. I have been having frontal pelvic pain where sometimes when I walk, sit, lay down and turn over it hurts and shoots over into my leg. I feel as if she's going to come out or fall out rather. This is my second and I know it sounds strange but I don't know what natural labor is I was induced with my first and forced into labor.
