Hi, I don't know the answer -- but since both CML and Gleevec toxicity produce anemia because of marrow suppression, maybe it's not possible to tell the difference. E.g., both would show a low reticulocyte count. This full text paper on anemia from Gleevec https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/ajh.23879 shows that other signs such as red blood cell size can vary, so that doesn't seem to help. Sorry.

If one has a thyroid condition can it cause gray hair and will treament reverse or stop the gray hair .

OK I don't feel old but I always get gray hair around my face line. I am skipping work today to get my hair done. My husband was making fun of me but I am only 34 and I don't want to pop out a baby with gray hair. Tell I am not a crazy lady please. Lol oh and I want a pedi since my feet will be in everyones face. Lol oh and baby can be here any minute so its not like I can put it off so that is why I am skipping work.

Is it possible that after taking gleevec for only two weeks WBC droped from 36.7 to 7? All other blood counts are also came back to normal range. Could doctor make mistake in diagnosis of CML? Maybe I should get seg second opinion?

I was diagnosed with CML and given Gleevec 400 ml. After taking gleevec for 2 weeks doctor took additional blood test. My WBC dropped from 36.5 to 7.1 and all other blood counts came down to normal range. I'm wondering if gleevec could give such fast hematological response or I was possibly misdiagnosed originally. I don't and didn't have any symptoms, my spleen and liver weren't enlarged, no enlarged lymph. Should I get second opinion asap? Please, help me.

After two weeks on 400mlg gleevec my WBC droped from 36.5 to 7.1. My doctor told to come for additional test in two weeks. Now my WBC is 1.3 and absolute neutrophils count is 0.04. I was told to stay home on antibiotics. How long it may take for my counts to clime back to safe range. And of course, I'm off gleevec right now. Does it seem that dose of 400mlg is too high for me.

i wonder if it will keep coming in...about 15 years ago my mustache started turning gray... for years anywhere i had gray hair would go from gray to brown and back from brown to gray....then about 5 years ago it went gray and stayed gray....now a couple months after tx new dark hairs...........

I was diagnosed last year and was immediatley put on gleevec 400mg/day.At my last consult my metabolic stats had risen,hence blood tests to determine if the gleevec is no longer working.I am still in firstphase and wonder what my options are if the gleevec is no longer an option.Amin pretty good form,just very tired and a lot of bone pain.

I read a thing a while back that said people can actually start getting gray hair in their early 20's and they just don't notice it because it's one or two hairs out of the hundreds of thousands or many you have on your head. Gray hair and balding are both genetic. I haven't seen any articles yet that say why your hair would gray only on one side. So far I have only seen that it is genetic regardless of the pattern.

Hi Ravi, when i started to get gray hair it was im my beard also and started the same as you, one then two then three. They started in my chin area first I was around 30. Im not sure what causes gray but it could be a natural thing in your gene pole. I also remembering having a friend who was 22 and started the same as you mention. You might want to ask a dermetoligist about this as they know all about skin and hair problems.

My gray hair is different from my regular hair. It's like it came from a different person. My regular hair is very fine texture. My gray hair is thick and yes a little wavy as well. My best guess would be yes, your new gray hair will be wavy as well. My eyebrows now are sprouting gray hair. I keep plucking them. Soon, I will have bald eyes. Did not color for several months, lots of gray hair starting to come back in...even little short ones...then Salon colored again ....I recently had a stronger reation, rash on forhead and itching like crazy, scalp tightness, hair fall again... I think you can have an allergic reaction from hair color which leads to delayed hair fall ..at the scalp... I am not a doctor, but this has been my experience... through research it looks as though it might be the PPD in hair color...

So ladies (and gents too), have you noticed that your thyroid condition has given you MORE gray hair? I swear, this year has been terrible on my hair and I am now grayer than ever. Needing to dye my hair more now and new grays seem to be the only thing sprouting these days. Just wanted to know if you all were having this trouble too or if it could even be related to the possessed thyroid I have. BTW ----- THIS WEEKEND HAS BEEN A PAIN - LITERALLY!
