doctors tell us that the only medication for kidney cancer metastasis is Sutent, which also has very servere side effects, I really donot know where to start the treatment or not, if you could advice how they treat kidney cancer emtastasis in your country and if anyone has taken Sutent - how did they theraphy go? didi it have effect?

Hi, I don't know the answer -- but since both CML and Gleevec toxicity produce anemia because of marrow suppression, maybe it's not possible to tell the difference. E.g., both would show a low reticulocyte count.

I was diagnosed with CML and given Gleevec 400 ml. After taking gleevec for 2 weeks doctor took additional blood test. My WBC dropped from 36.5 to 7.1 and all other blood counts came down to normal range. I'm wondering if gleevec could give such fast hematological response or I was possibly misdiagnosed originally. I don't and didn't have any symptoms, my spleen and liver weren't enlarged, no enlarged lymph. Should I get second opinion asap? Please, help me.
t want to see me, that fever was not from gleevec, and that I needed to monitor myself by myself by simply taken ibuprofen. This is what I did all last week and only this Monday he did a blood work.

I was diagnosed last year and was immediatley put on gleevec 400mg/day.At my last consult my metabolic stats had risen,hence blood tests to determine if the gleevec is no longer working.I am still in firstphase and wonder what my options are if the gleevec is no longer an option.Amin pretty good form,just very tired and a lot of bone pain.
I have CML and was treated with Gleevec for 4 years and achieved remission. I have for the past several months been experiencing sudden onset of weakness which last for hours, to days. My blood pressure which has remained under control for several years with atenolol has been running 145/105 and higher for the past three to four months. i get my heart checked every 2 weeks now and i am fine with the qt thing. i take the chemo pill called gleevec and have to force myself to eat so i dont get sick when i take it. how long will these withdrawel problems go on? i have xanax to take (1mg) but dont work to good. i should would appreciate any advice from any one on how to deal with these issues, family dr says its anxiety but i think its the withdrawels from the high dose of elavil.
-) As for your question about the Onkomarker M2PK it is a blood test for preliminarily diagnosis of nonsmall cell lung cancer and if further treatment is necessary. The tests because of their simplicity and low cost can be used for the detection of groups of patients with preliminarily diagnosed nonsmall cell lung cancer needing additional methods of examination for more exact staging of the disease and exclusion of remote metastases and more active using adjuvant method of treatment.
A total of 24 patients treated by sunitinib between 2006 and 2008 at Hospital Clínico San Carlos were included. The data were collected retrospectively and analyzed with SPSS 15.0.
RESULTS: Treatment duration was 30 weeks (18-42) [median (IQR)]. Five patients (20.8%) developed subclinical hypothyroidism and three (12.5%) developed overt hypothyroidism. The number of weeks needed to observe an increase in thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) values in these patients was 15 (6-20) [median (IQR)].
After this she went to take her blood tests again and the thyroxine blood count was again higher than the last time. Here the doctor ordered a PET scan and found that she had lesions in her chest and lung but concluded that this was due to cancerous thyroid cells returning.

I am a Leukemia Survivor also. What type of Leukemia did you have, and what was your treatment. I have CML, and have achieved a major molecular response through a oral chemo drug called Gleevec.
It does not sound like these patches have anything to do with the Leukemia. I would see a Dermatologist to have them evaluated. I hope that helps you a little bit.
I had surgery on my neck and also my lower back. I do not know what these surgery's are called but my neck now has titanium with 10 screws in it. this was almost two years ago (will be two years in December). It felt okay for a few weeks and then the pain intensified. Felt like someone beating me across my back and down my arms. Then there is a feeling of someone burning me all over my front to my lower jaw bone, under my arm pits and then to my elbow's on the inner side.
I should mention that I have CML but it has been in remission for the last two years and I am no longer taking Gleevec.
I am scheduled to be looked at by a group that kills the nerve endings in the heart that causes AF but there is an 18 month waiting period.
My question is how many times can I be cardioverted and what is the downside of having it so often?
I was diagnosed w/CMML in 2009 and did 6mos of Vidaza. Monocyte levels keep rising and are now at 28%. 54 yr old male. My drs. just keep telling me to watch and wait, but I don't feel comfortable doing that, especially since I am fighting a recurrent staph infection that keeps returning every month.
She then went to Mayo and the doctor there told her she did not have Leukemia based on her blood work there, but she had been overdosed on Hydrea during the summer to the point her wbc was 3 and was only recovered to 11 by the time of her appt in Sept. Now her wbc is 58 and her hometown doctor is putting her back on Hydrea. Her family is concerned she is going to take a serious chemo drug when there is still a question of what she has. Could it be an infection that isn't showing up?
