Common Questions and Answers about Geodon and panic attacks

geodon

Avatar f tn my psychiatrist allowed me to reduce dosage from 20 mg geodon (ziprasidone) and 4 mg perphenazine to zero milligrams geodon and 4 mg perphenazine. i took zero mg geodon and 4 mg perphenazine for just one day and have terrible chills up my back.
719785 tn?1232901518 I agree completely with ILADCOCATE. I have (and currently) been off and on Geodon for a long time. It is a life saver for me. But I also take other medications as well, including several mood stablizers. Lamictal is great, Lithium. Call the doc and try to demand a sooner appointment. If it takes that long to see the doc, maybe there is someone else out there. My pdoc allows me to call him anytime if something suddenly comes up.
Avatar n tn and up dose on trazodone and vistaril. Still not better up dose on Geodon. Still worse with bad panic attacks, tardive dyskinesia, anger and rage, hot as fire most time. Can't take no more. And hallucinations. Dr. Said Xanax would make me worse(but helped) for years. Still seeing things, my rage feelings arescaring me and my hands shake most of time and have tics real bad. What do I do now? I feel like I'm going to explode or go crazy.
Avatar f tn Tried several meds in the way past when I was agoraphobic from panic attacks and realized I knew within a few days if they were for me or not. MDs say to wait a few weeks. That is crap if you are the one experiencing some nasty side effects. If a med is the right one for you it just works. Glad your panic attacks were temporary. Had them daily for 6 ugly years. Now I am just Cyclothymic with OCD. Hey, makes life more interesting, right?
Avatar f tn For anyone out there who is trying to get off Abilify, it will be the scariest/worst experience of your life, but it DOES get better. It took 6 weeks for me to begin to stop having the delusional terrors and panic attacks, but I feel better. I'm writing to catalog what a dangerous drug this is and to give anyone who is trying to withdraw from it hope.
494087 tn?1257793207 I called for an emergency appointment because i have had numerous attacks, so I went. I posted a while back and told yall I had trouble opening up and letting him know how I feel. But this time I went in there and prepared myself to just let it all out. Get this, everytime I tried to tell him ANYTHING he told me to quit interupting him. I tried to explain my anxiety attacks, my trouble going in public and that it is all getting worse.
Avatar n tn Hes putting me on geodon to try and get me off zyprexa and to see if i get better sleep. I am on 30 mg of zyprexa right now and life has been better, cause at one time i was on 40 mg. With all the medications I am on I still don't sleep that well. We both think I'm over medicated. The doctor says that I need to calm down and relax and wait for them to work and then he will start to slowly reduce my amounts and how much medications i am on. the objective right now is to fisrt stablize me.
526901 tn?1216334227 I bet the high dose may have caused the panic attacks. Check the side effects, nervousness may be one and in you it could manifest as panic attacks. Best of luck!!
420308 tn?1203041262 I went from 130 to 180 in 6 months and was having ongoing panic attacks. Day and night for an entire year. I'll tell you what made the panic attacks and depression go away. I quit antidepressants and sloooooly tapered off the seroquel. It was remarkable. The antidepressants were making me crazy. The awful anxiety slowly got better, although not all the way. I've always had it, I'll live with it. Unfortunately, I'm still 170 pounds.
Avatar f tn i have PTSD from combat and i take zoloft for this and i suffer from flashbacks and nightmares i also have schizophrenia and tardive dyskinesia i take geodon and congentin for this.
Avatar f tn On one hand I stay off medications and take the chance of me harming myself to let my liver heal and on the other hand, cause more damage to my liver and relieve the panic attacks and depression. I feel so lost and hopeless in this situation. Are there any natural ways to level my moods out that won't harm my liver that will help with the panic attacks and depression? I truly need help because my symptoms are getting worse by the day.
Avatar f tn I have been severely emotionally, psychologically and verbally abused by my family of origin, doctors, employers, friends, neighbours, strangers and others and have suffered from anxiety/panic attacks, chronic insomnia, muscle tension, adrenaline surges, spaced out feelings, lack of concentration, avoidance behaviours and thoughts of suicide. The insomnia is so bad I get about 3 hours sleep a week and sometimes less than that.
Avatar f tn Geodon is a great mood stabilizer for many people. It has a low incidence of weight gain and very few side effects. I was on it for 4 weeks but unfortunately it didn't work for me but most people have success with it. I switched to Abilify and it works great for me!
685321 tn?1230951152 ve never felt euphoria until i went on geodon. and i also was very angry on it. i still had massive panic attacks on it. i swear being on that pill made me bipolar. the docs also say that this "derealization" is a self-hypnotic state. that i've experienced trauma in my life and this is a coping mechanisim. and they say me telling them i'm bipolar is my hypochondria! lol!
Avatar n tn Horrible panic attacks, insomnia (even with a sleep aid)....... it will get better, but monkeyc is right, you should be tapering down your medication under supervision, not on your own as that can be dangerous and exacerbate the withdrawal symptoms. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I just tapered down from Geodon and I'm completely off of it now. I was feeling panic, anxiety, depression, overall feelings of doom. My pdoc told me that he thought I was having bad side effects from the Geodon, so now I am off of it. Right now, I am taking Lamictal 400mg per day (for bipolar 1). I still feel confused, sedated, and overall just bad. I feel like I have the flu almost. This has gone on for months and I can't seem to shake it.
142722 tn?1281533616 d have to speak to your psychiatrist to find out if the anxiety is just something untreated or a minor side effect of the Geodon and if it will go away in time. Think about when the anxiety started to get worse and speak to them about all this.
Avatar m tn So I'm taking 40mg of Geodon for bipolar, though no psychotic symptoms. Now I know bipolar alone should deter me from taking mushrooms, and honestly I'm sure it will. And I know mixing recreational drugs with psychatric meds is a bad idea. Nevertheess, I have a question concerning the interaction between Geodon and psilocybin. From what I've read, psilocybin is an agonist to the 5HT2 serotonin receptor, which I assume means that it increases serotonin.
10011789 tn?1409704061 Anyone have issues with panic attacks? I had them probably 3 or 4 times in my life and never with my first pregnancy. Now with this one (having twins) I've already had 2 and I'm only 12 weeks. Both my parents take anxiety meds. I never have had to and don't want to but it's kind of scary. I'm never like stressed or thinking about anything at the time. It just suddenly hits me and I can't breath and I feel overwhelmed and trapped.
1979360 tn?1328143865 ve finally been told by myself that i have horrible panic attacks. i hate them, and i do want and need help and a support system.

Avatar f tn I had panic attacks about 20 years ago when I worked with all women who smoked some of them chained smoked and I put it down to secondary smoke my thyroid was perfect at the time but also my job was so stressful our boss used to come in every morning and say there were too many women working and as such that was unproductive hours (worked for a construction company where 99% were men) and that one of us would have to go and he would stand there looking at us as if he was trying to decide which o
461368 tn?1206516757 But our brain and mind knows there is a problem and eventually sends up emergency flares -the panic attacks- and fog horn warnings (the anxiety). Typically, the treatment involves some medication to help the patient be more relaxed and functional. But medication is NOT the cure. The "cure," (defined by ME as the end of significant symptoms and no expectation that they will return) comes about through talk therapy with a psychiatrist or similarly qualified mental health professional.
Avatar n tn Could you 'feel' your heartbeat get faster? Also, what is your approximate age?
1000480 tn?1266592599 My panic attacks went away completely when I stpooed drinking, stopped smoking and went back to church and was healed from all my issues and worries and freak out s. then...I stopped excersising and started drinking again and i cant even look at a line and I panic beyond belief. I have missed flights, trips, and it really *****. So, this past month Im back at self care and healthy diets and it has helped tremendously! I remind myself that I have nothing to FEAR!! Avatar n tn and desided to go to the psychitrist... I was diagnosed with panic attacks... and I was prescriped with Zoloft... 25mg to begin with... and an other pill called "akamon" to help me sleep at night.... he said that its a therapy of 6 months and then I will be just fine but since I was very worried of taking these meds i kept visiting websites and they are all full with people that take them for years and no one that said... "ok i took them for 4-5 months and then I was ok"....
607502 tn?1288247540 I get panic attacks, sometimes with no warning and no obvious trigger - these are at night when I'm about to go to sleep I suddenly can't breathe and my heart is racing. Then I get the ones brought on by outside stressors, ie, situations I can't cope with.
