Avatar f tn I'm not sure if bipolar disorder can be diagnosed that early, but I could be wrong. My son had MAJOR tantrums like what you're describing and since I gave bp disorder, I thought he may too, or maybe even a form of autism. I couldn't find a psychiatrist in a 200 mike radius that would see a child under 6, and he was 3 at the time, so I began my own research as well.
1039200 tn?1314912008 m not sure what to think. A medication issue? Forgetfulness due to seizure activity? Lack of concentration due to mood issues? ADHD?? I would try your own doctor. Wait for a response from this forum expert and maybe even try the undiagnosed symptoms community forum (people there offer lots of misc. advice re: symptoms). Good luck!
603015 tn?1329862973 Bipolar Disorder II is generally viewed as less severe, with no psychotic experiences, and with episodes tending to last only hours to a few days, but longitudinal studies suggest impairment is often as severe as in Bipolar I Disorder." Note the word 'generally' because thats the clue - the information they are giving is very basic here and its not conculsive. There are Type2's here who have experienced psychotic features - i have experienced them myself.
1039200 tn?1314912008 so here goes - 17 weeks ago I started a new job after being out of work for about a year due to bipolar disorder. I have had nothing but complaints about my work (behind my back) which were recently brought up when I was approached by my boss. All my colleagues had complained. They all stated that I could not do my job (or any) due to the fact that my mind was too severely disorganised and memory was so bad.
1978490 tn?1326159049 It would be accompanied by things like pressured speech, lack of sleep, increase in goal directed activities, reckless behaviour, etc. If you always lose your temper - chances are it isn't a bipolar symptom. Doesn't mean something else isn't going on. Anger management classes can really help out. My father went to them with a lot of success.
Avatar n tn either the cardiac output becomes diminished or compensation ensues to increase the ventricular diastolic pressure to higher levels. When the left ventricular diastolic pressure is elevated, venous pressure in the lungs must also become elevated to maintain forward flow. Increased pulmonary venous pressure results in alveolar edema causing the patient to be short of breath. Phrased differently, left ventricular stiffness makes it more difficult for blood to enter from the left atrium.
Avatar f tn HIDA scan with CCK is used to estimate the gallbladder ejection fraction to support the diagnosis of functional gallbladder disorder and to select patients who may benefit from cholecystectomy. A gallbladder ejection fraction of less than 35-40% is considered low. Low ejection fraction on scintigraphy is supportive but not diagnostic of functional gallbladder disorder. False-positive results can be seen with diabetes, celiac disease, obesity, cirrhosis, and medications.

Avatar f tn Holiday blues can affect anyone, especially people with things like bipolar disorder. Depressive episodes I don't think are required for bipolar disorder 1 to be diagnosed and only mania is required but they frequently occur. With psychotic features just means you experience psychotic symptoms when manic and/or depressed but particularly while manic.
603015 tn?1329862973 Depends on the specific person and the severity of the moodswings. Its hard to say with me because some of the hard to categorize dysphoria may be neurological but I have experienced standard rapid cycling as well. That new anti convulsant that has been found to be of use as a mood stabilizer for me in experimental usage has shown great promise but the Clonidine patch has stopped working and I've had to add (with permission) a pill of it a day which has made me a bit sluggish.
Avatar f tn , 2001) that teach a form of anticipatory coping skills in that they focus on helping people prepare for the possible but not yet occurring threat of relapse, and take steps directed to minimizing its negative effect. These programs usually include identifying events and situations that had triggered episodes in the past and making a conscious effort to build a routine that would help the person avoid such events and situations in the future.

Because Asperger’s Disorder is a behaviorally defined disorder (i.e., there is something like a blood that doctors can rely on for a diagnosis) it does take time and, ideally, multiple interactions and assessment with an individual to arrive at the correct diagnosis. This can be a very difficult time for a parent because of all the uncertainty.
Avatar n tn Acute Phase Rehabilitation Program Physical Therapy Physical therapy for acute radiculopathy should emphasize analgesia through passive modalities, stretching activities, and soft tissue mobilization initially and then advance to McKenzie-type activities to regain segmental motion. Once segmental activity has been normalized or improved and the patient's pain has reduced, then the patient may begin a walking program and a progressive lumbar stabilization program.
202665 tn?1248806733 ve just been incorrect to start with and as the others said, bipolar disorder can have psychotic features and you could develop schizophrenia symptoms down the road alongside the bipolar disorder, but that would be schizoaffective disorder. 12268405 tn?1427853361 On April 2nd I made the decision to admit myself to a psychiatric hospital due to a psychotic episode. The thing that I'm having the hardest time comprehending is if I induced the episode or not. I convinced myself that I was covered in fleas, I heard voices saying my name and calling me worthless in the past, & I experienced paranoia. I don't know what to think right now. I wish I could know if I made the symptoms worse or not...

Avatar n tn t act on something immediately as it enters her mind then she will most likely forget about it. Completing simple goals is difficult because she lacks focus to complete them. It is as if she lost the ability to plan her time and is living from moment to moment. It is more then just being scatterbrained, it is like her brain lost track of the world around her. In the past, she has been diagnosed and prescribed with medicine for ADD (I am not sure what exact medicine).
1965148 tn?1354978634 I think that bipolar disorder can be with or without psychotic features. Since you seem to be having some psychosis then I would say you have it with. I think they have to observe you over time to get an acurate diagnosis. Therefor you would have to meet the diagnostic creiteria outlined in the DSM IV to recieve a diagnosis.
