Avatar n tn You and he/she will have to resort to other preparations, to include a different inhaled steroid, such as Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), either alone or in combination with a long-acting bronchodilator, like Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate) or Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder), such a combination being either Advair® HFA (fluticasone propionate and salmeterol) Inhalation Aerosol or Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarat
Avatar n tn Hi, You should really discus this with the doctor treating your sarcoidosis. My understading of the disease is that is it an auto-immune disease with an overactive immune system. Therefore, you would most likely on the prednesone to suppress your immuse system. I could be wrong. If this is the case, I doubt you have options, but your doctor would know your situation best. Take care.
Avatar f tn There are many philosophies, but one protocol suggests albuterol should be used first and ipratropium five minutes later. Try the foradil (formoterol fumarate inhalation power). It too is expensive, but the company provides free samples.
Avatar n tn This would include a long-acting bronchodilator, such as Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate), Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Spiriva® HandiHaler® (tiotropium bromide inhalation powder) along with an inhaled steroid. Another potentially helpful, oral medicine is called theophylline. Your doctor may also want to prescribe this. You should have your blood oxygen level checked, in case it is low and you would need supplemental oxygen.
Avatar n tn Does Symbicort 80/4.5 (budesonide 80 mcg and formoterol fumarate dihydrate 4.5 mcg) Inhalation Aerosol effect the eyes? Does it raise the interocular pressure if used with known glaucoma? This discussion is related to Borderline Glaucoma and Steroids.
Avatar n tn You should have another follow-up x-ray, now. The prescription of Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol does not mean you have asthma. It only means that your doctor suspects that you might have it. Given that it is now nearly 4 months since the bout of pneumonia, you deserve further diagnostic evaluation by a lung specialist.
Avatar n tn 1) yes, the bad air almost certainly induced acute inflammation of your bronchi, commonly called airways, but it is equally certain that this inflammation is completely reversible, although it may require months of therapy with the Symbicort® (budesonide/formoterol fumarate dehydrate) Inhalation Aerosol, Flovent® HFA Inhalation Aerosol (fluticasone propionate), Pulmicort Flexhaler® (budesonide inhalation powder) or similar medicines; 2) No, the treatment would not have had an adverse effect on
Avatar m tn I was also taking anti-fungals having developed thrush from probably formoterol fumarate inhalers. I am also dealing with ringworm. Nothing grew from the cultures taken from blood, sputum, or a specimen from endoscopy. The pneumonia abated and while at home I felt remarkably better. Then my girlfriend noticed my hair was falling out at an alarming rate. While looking at the hair in my hand I noticed my fingernails had no cuticles! Feet are also affected.
15432957 tn?1440518782 Below is the description of my symptoms: DYSPNEA (symptoms of the last 10 days) -Hard to breathe all day. -Shallow breathing only. Deep breathing has no effect and tires me. -Gets worse after eating. -Tired of breathing. Every day all day is a roller coaster of a hard time breathing and a very hard time breathing. -There's a constant squeezing in the left side of my chest. -Weak physically to walk. Going up stairs isn't easy anymore.
Avatar f tn You might suggest to your physician he try Foradil (formoterol fumarate) inhalation powder. This is a long-acting beta agonist, and a 12 mcg dose will last for 12 hours. It has the disadvantage of being slightly expensive. Some people have side effects from this, but I have experienced none whatsoever. Some medications have both a steroid plus formoterol. My feeling is to try the formoterol fumarate alone, and see if that solves the problem before going to the dual-medication formulas.
Avatar n tn That means that this type of medicine should be used with caution and, in fact, maybe should not be used until it has been determined by a specialist that your rapid heart beat would not pose a serious risk, with the use of long-acting bronchodilator medicines such as Foradil® Aerolizer™ (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) or Serevent® Inhalation Aerosol (salmeterol xinafoate). You should also have a chest x-ray and spirometry, a simple breathing test with and without a bronchodilator.
Avatar n tn You will find that Foradil Aerolizer (formoterol fumarate inhalation powder) will be helpful. It is not possible to make a diagnosis over the internet and this may NOT be the problem, but you would be remiss in not consulting a cardiologist.
Avatar n tn I am going to recommend you save up your pennies and get some Foradil (formoterol fumerate inhalation powder). It is VERY expensive, but the 12mcg packets work almost immediately and are more effective than the albuterol sulfate. The Foradil will last for a long time. It will save you a hospital bill on a bad day. The albuterol suflate is short-acting. The steroidal inhalers do NOT work immediately.
Avatar m tn One of the newer medications I like is Foradil, in an aerosolizer (formoterol fumerate inhalation powder). The down side is, it is pretty expensive. It comes in little 12 mcg packets in the U.S., and is very long lasting. It has a number of downsides, and I suggest you read the PDR carefully to review those side effects, including elevation of blood pressure. The other issue is that asthma is often connected with long-standing encapsulated bacterial infections.
Avatar n tn is it okay to use albuterol sulfate inhalation solution .083 % even if its out of code? I have real bad asthma and I got a serve cold and cant afford to go to doctor.
Avatar f tn Oral prednisone has been misused and also makes one prone to bacterial lung infection, but on a short-term (a very short term - no more than five days), it seems to be very helpful in reducing the time that the lung returns to normal. Foradil (formoterol fumarate) can also be helpful until the lung "settles down", even if you don't use it 365 days a year. As far as the "shortnress of breath" being linked to the asthma - probably, but not necessarily.
Avatar n tn Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) is a short acting inhaled medicine, a rescue medicine, with fewer side effects than similar medicines used for the relief of acute asthma symptoms. It is not a medicine well-suited for long term, sustained asthma control. There are other classes of asthma medicines, called controller medicines and these do not have the same excitatory side effects.
746512 tn?1388807580 Symbicort for example includes both Pulmicort, as well as an LABA called Formoterol. Another example is Advair (Flovent/Salmeterol). I would definitely recommend seeing your Pulmonary Specialist.
Avatar n tn I have tried oral antihistamines, steam inhalation, and recently a Neti Pot with the provided salt solution, and nothing has even made a dent. Any feedback would be great. If I should get myself to a doctor, it would be at the VA because that is the only medical insurance I have. Thank you.
Avatar m tn My question is, is there any general method to synthesis an inhalation solution, mine would be strictly vitamin and herbal based and targeted to help treat asthmatic sypmtoms, the solution would be used in a nebulizer, and would it be safe to use a vit/herb liquid solution to breath in?
