Common Questions and Answers about Fluconazole while pregnant

diflucan

Avatar f tn Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
1158461 tn?1262614392 For starters, I am 24 weeks pregnant. When I went for my check up, my OB/GYN told me that I had a vaginal infection. She prescribed me the Metronidazole vaginal gel to take for 5 days followed by a single dose of Fluconazole. My concern is about the "no sex" orders. I'm pregnant so my sex drive is out of this world. I understand that my boyfriend and I can't be intimate until the treatment is complete, but what about masturbation?
Avatar f tn Did your ob prescribe it or a regular dr? Ask the dr about it. Usually a pharmacist is correct because they have a guideline that pops up that says do not take for these and they know medications so well. I work in a pharmacy, so I always ask them if it's safe to take anything during pregnancy because they know.
Avatar m tn Anyone ever take fluconazole 150mg oral pill for a yeast infection in their first trimester. I phoned a pharmacist and he said it was fine and all the research I've done says as long as it's not in high doses the baby should be ok, but I am having some major anxiety.
Avatar f tn Do NOT take this pill while pregnant. I used to get yeast infections chronically and was told I was NOT allowed to while pregnant. You can however use Monistat cream inserts from the store.
Avatar f tn my dr gave me fluconazole for my infection ,3 pills in 3 days .should we skip or take it regular.because she told me take it wednesday ,thursday ,and sunday,,thank..
Avatar f tn Yea and you are not supposed to use the 1 day cream when you are pregnant. Best things when pregnant (per my doctor) are monistat 3, gyne-lotrimin, terazol-3 (prescription) and fluconazole generic for difulcan. (Also prescription) the fluconazole is amazing! Took it three weeks ago works in 3 days normally.
Avatar f tn ve taken fluconazole when pregnant for yeast infections and it is commonly prescribed during pregnancy and has no pregnancy at the regular dose during the second trimester. During the first, at higher doses of 400 to 800 mg a day, you shouldn't take it but you should be fine now. Flagyl is pregnancy category B. That means it was not shown to affect a fetus in limited studies. It's also pretty commonly given during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn He is Rxing fluconazole for 6 weeks, one tab a day, 100mg. Is this safe? I am healthy for the most part, 40 yr old female with Hashimoto's. My main symptom is chronic stomach bloating. He is doing an ultrsound and x-ray of abdomen as well but wanted to get advice on this long term use of fluconazole. Thank you for your time.
Avatar n tn So It has been around 3-4 weeks and I still having symptoms. First I was taking Nystatin then my Doctor prescribed me Fluconazole. While I was taking this medications I felt like it was only preventing it from getting worse and not actually addressing the root cause. Just a couple days ago I stopped taking Fluconazole and my tongue and lips again started to get swollen. I have also been taking pro-biotics and have been eating natural yougurt.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem with the swelling and itchiness, and I done some research and since we discharge a lot more while pregnant it can make the area a lot more moist an causes it to be swollen an irritated and sometimes even itchy, so I use regular panty liners to help maintain dryness an the irritation has completly stopped for me.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your reply. I've already been on fluconazole for over two weeks. My probme is that while some parts of my body is getting cleared up, new lesions have also appeared in the past few days. Is it normal to get more lesions during a treatment? Is this a sign that fluconazole isn't effective and I should switch to something else?
Avatar f tn Apparently I can consistently getting yeast infections due to hormonam imbalance. I'm afraid to overdose on the fluconazole. Is there a natural way of getting rid of it? I'm thinking cranberry juice but should I drink it once in a while or is there another alternative. Because I have to avoid sugar in order to fix my hormonal imbalance.
Avatar n tn While examining me the doctor said it looked like I had a yeast infection and after the pap results came out negative I called and asked why I was experiencing the itching and was then prescribed with the Fluconazole. Also I thought it was odd that while examining me the doctor didn't mention anything about the bumps so I wasn't sure if they were normal. They make the texture of the vagina feel gross. I'm afraid my boyfriend is going to think I have a disease.
Avatar n tn So my doc prescribe me fluconazole for a yeast infection I'm currently 30wks pregnant, when I picked it up it had 2 little packets in it with one pill each and doc says to take 1 a day but as I'm reading the instructions it says 1pill clears everything and you only need a 1time dosage. Do I take both pills or just one why would he prescribe me 2 if directions clearly state 1? Any ladies ever had to take for yeast infection while preggo what did your doc prescribe?
1054108 tn?1314298660 I have a yeast infection bu not pregnant and might start my period soon and im on Fluconazole and metronidazole (2 pills 72 hours apart and metrogel for 5 days once every bed time) yesterday was my first day on pill and gel and today i notiched like this blood like little clumps nothing like discharge i want to know if its normal ?
Avatar f tn 16 may be causing the v tach. I take 600 mg daily of Fluconazole. What are your thoughts?
Avatar f tn 16). How did he come to that conclusion and whats next for me. I've read in the forums that this arrythmia may be precipitated by excitement or episodic, whats up with that ? Also, where would I find information resources that has a little more meat to it than the usual stuff..
Avatar f tn Have any of you ladies taken a single dose of fluconazole 150 mg during pregnancy?
525485 tn?1314361301 Yea, unfortunately you are not supposed to take Diflucan while pregnant, so, I guess I will have to see what the doc has to say. The creams dont normally work for me either, and in previous occurences, I normally have to take 2 diflucan's so many hours apart in order to get rid of my infection!
Avatar f tn This tome the infection was while patch all over the penis head and foreskin giving heavy itching which peels off and new patches develops after 5-7days thus recurring. Initially as per GP applied Miconazole + Hydeocortisone togerwith Trbrinafine 250mg and Fluconazole 250mg for 5 days, but no relief. He referred to a Dermatologist. Administred Terbinafine-500mg (10days) and Fexofenadine-120mg (7 days) continued applying Miconazole but had no relief.
Avatar f tn She told yes but their not recommended for pregnant woman. So she told me to use one of the over the counter treatments like monistant (not sure if spelled correctly) I personally wouldn't risk taking it. Even the pharmacists told you its not recommended. And like I mentioned my doc also said its not recommended.
689655 tn?1227249113 So I've had recurring yeast infections for a while now. I seriously get one every month. Sometimes it seems as if the only time I don't have even a slight infection, is when I'm on my period. My doctor prescribed fluconazole. She told me to take one pill each week for 6 months. The prescription information states that I should see results within 3-5 days. It has been 2 weeks now and just as I thought it was completely cleared up, it seems to be returning just slightly again.
Avatar f tn And have been given fluconazole. I had a swab done after it came back twice, and it is just the normal yeast treatable with fluconazole. Well, it came back a 3rd and 4th time. My pcp gave me a few more pills and told me to take them once a week for a month to see if that was enough to kick it. Well, it’s back, again. I shower daily, I have not changed body washes or laundry detergent. No diet changes. I don’t understand what I’m doing.
