Common Questions and Answers about Fluconazole otc

diflucan

Avatar f tn m a pharmacy technician I know about different meds this one unit dose pill called fluconazole I took that when I had a yeast due to the fact those otc over the counter meds burn the heck out of me.. so I asked my doctor to prescribe that for me... Talk to your doctor but if you used the otc monistat stick with it if it don't cause you any problems but that pill is a one time thing not a three day thing..

Avatar n tn She went to a gynecologist and the doctor told her it was Candida Albicans, prescribed her a couple stuff and told her to tell me to apply OTC anti-fungal treatment (clotrimazole) for about a week until it's gone. She was fine after a while, but things weren't so pretty with me. I tried the clotrimazole and everything from my glans cleared up, apart from redness and itchiness of my foreskin. I took fluconazole and applied topical treatment on my foreskin for another month.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
Avatar f tn my dr gave me fluconazole for my infection ,3 pills in 3 days .should we skip or take it regular.because she told me take it wednesday ,thursday ,and sunday,,thank..
Avatar f tn My wbc and anc are both low, and have been now, for awhile. Is this probably the reason why? Should I keep battling with otc products, or do you think it is time for a dr to intervene? I am just so tired of docs, I was trying to battle this myself. Thanks for all your feedback!!
Avatar m tn You may need to take oral antifungal pills twice a week for 3-4 weeks along with local application of antifungal cream. There are many types of antifungals available. Take an OTC antifungal with a combination of two or more anti fungals. Use both oral and local application. Provided it is indeed fungus, then only try this. Antifungal tablets are strong medicines and should not be taken otherwise. So start with cream and if it helps, start the tablet.
938326 tn?1300878804 that is what I used with my first pregnancy. You cannot take diflucan/fluconazole (pills) but you can use OTC insertables...such as monistat or a store brand.
Avatar m tn Anyone ever take fluconazole 150mg oral pill for a yeast infection in their first trimester. I phoned a pharmacist and he said it was fine and all the research I've done says as long as it's not in high doses the baby should be ok, but I am having some major anxiety.
Avatar f tn Sure, it is safe to take. I personally like the one day Monostat ovules for yeast infections but fluconazole works really great. Hope it clears it up quickly!
Avatar f tn I've taken Clindamycin and fluconazole to kill a yeast infection. But now my doctor tells me I might possibly get it back because antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I'm not even sure...
Avatar f tn Based off the symptoms I was having they told me that I had a yeast infection-(I had one about three months ago). They prescribed me fluconazole. I took it and felt better, but went back into my gynecologist for a follow up on Thursday(my symptoms were almost completely gone at this point.) They took a swab and said it the results said no it wasn’t a yeast infection, but she said yes she was sure I had had one. I took she told me to take the second dose of fluconazole, which I did that day.
Avatar f tn but after a week i started oral fluconazole with terbinafine cream.after few days again some fungal infection came...is it the side effect of fluconazole. ???
Avatar m tn Does not work in many, fluconazole. Your doc may put you on terbinafine, or griseofulvin for best results.
Avatar n tn He is Rxing fluconazole for 6 weeks, one tab a day, 100mg. Is this safe? I am healthy for the most part, 40 yr old female with Hashimoto's. My main symptom is chronic stomach bloating. He is doing an ultrsound and x-ray of abdomen as well but wanted to get advice on this long term use of fluconazole. Thank you for your time.
Avatar f tn She came back and said she barely saw any yeast and she thought maybe it was because I had just used Monistat 7, so she put me on Fluconazole to clear up my yeast. My yeast cleared up after 3 days and my symptoms were relieved, but the itching came back 4 days later. I also noticed these small red bumps on my slightly swollen inner vagina that didn't itch and weren't painful. I went back to see another doctor and to also get tested for STDs.
Avatar n tn It spread rapidly from my torso to my arms and legs, and my neck. I went to see a doctor, who prescribed Fluconazole (150mg, 1 capsule a week for 4 weeks). After a few days the lesions on my stomach began to fade, so I felt I was getting better. I have just taken my third Fluconazole pill. The bad news is that although some parts of my body are definitely better, new ringworm has appeared on my face in the last few days. What should I do? I'm hoping to see the doctor again soon.
Avatar m tn This time I took fluconazole 150 mg that my doctor prescribed at the last visit. I even took a second dose 72 hours later and I am still having itching, redness, and soreness. I am scared now, I don't know why fluconazole isn't working (it worked for me in the past). What else can I use? I feel out of options, since fluconazole failed. It can't be bacterial, because discharge is white and odorless.
Avatar f tn Hello ladies I look the pill Fluconazole because I think I have a yeast infection my OB gave me two Fluconazole pills last month but I only need one and I just took the other one today. Now I'm scared because I don't know if I could take this pill this late in my pregnancy I'm 39 week now. Have anyone ever took this pill after 35 weeks?
Avatar f tn My beagle was on that for his bacterial pyodermas, but also on Fluconazole for the yeast he had. There are different types of yeast/fungals, some will present with a lot of itching, redness, inflammation, just like us w/yeast infections, but no waxy stuff and others are this dark waxy stuff but not much itching. it's basically the same brownish yucky/stinky stuff they get in their ears.
Avatar m tn Well he prescribed doxycycline hyclate and recommended an otc yeast infection cream. While I have been on the dh since Friday, I have not noticed a change but the itching did get more severe so I started using the yeast infection cream. Also the head of the penis got really red. I thought dh was for bacterial infections? If that's the case and this turns out to be a fungal infection then is it possible it won't have any effect on the issue and we are back at square one?
Avatar m tn You can buy over the counter antifungal creams specifically for the genital area (ask your pharmacist) or you can purchase a one single dose capsule called Fluconazole that you swallow with water. This should help to rid you of any yeast infections. As a home remedy for fast relief, you can apply live natural set yogurt to your genitals. This will cool down the itchiness and help with any inflammation.
Avatar f tn Apparently I can consistently getting yeast infections due to hormonam imbalance. I'm afraid to overdose on the fluconazole. Is there a natural way of getting rid of it? I'm thinking cranberry juice but should I drink it once in a while or is there another alternative. Because I have to avoid sugar in order to fix my hormonal imbalance.
