Does anyone have any experience with self-treating a candida infection? Many of the treatments for sale on the internet cost upwards of $200-$300. Unfortunatley, this doesn't fit into my budget. Any ideas on how to treat this inexpensively?

was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.

For yeast infections I was always given either monistat or fluconazole. A bacterial infection like BV would require metronidazole (flagyl).
Hi doctor,i got this jock itch last year, first i tried tropical oitment like clotrimazole and miconazole but dint help. Then a doctor friend of mine suggested me fluconazole tabs once a week, after taking and applying oitment, it was cured but again came back after 10 days. Then i tried itraconazole 200mg a day for a month as suggested by another friend. It cured my itch but again came back after 10 days .

Anyone ever take fluconazole 150mg oral pill for a yeast infection in their first trimester. I phoned a pharmacist and he said it was fine and all the research I've done says as long as it's not in high doses the baby should be ok, but I am having some major anxiety.
Usually a pharmacist is correct because they have a guideline that pops up that says do not take for these and they know medications so well. I work in a pharmacy, so I always ask them if it's safe to take anything during pregnancy because they know.
I made a doctor appt for that following Wednesday where I was tested. My results came back positive for a yeast infection and negative for everything else...except the herpes blood test. My result was <0.90. According to the graph that was posted with the results, is positive. There was another standard graph that said 0-0.89 was normal. My doctor says I am positive for HSV 1. Can someone please explain to me how she came to that conclusion? I have never had any symptoms of HSV 1...

Based off the symptoms I was having they told me that I had a yeast infection-(I had one about three months ago). They prescribed me fluconazole. I took it and felt better, but went back into my gynecologist for a follow up on Thursday(my symptoms were almost completely gone at this point.) They took a swab and said it the results said no it wasn’t a yeast infection, but she said yes she was sure I had had one. I took she told me to take the second dose of fluconazole, which I did that day.
I have used terbinafine cream for a week and my fungal infection almost went away.but after a week i started oral fluconazole with terbinafine cream.after few days again some fungal infection came...is it the side effect of fluconazole. ???

He is Rxing fluconazole for 6 weeks, one tab a day, 100mg. Is this safe? I am healthy for the most part, 40 yr old female with Hashimoto's. My main symptom is chronic stomach bloating. Thanks for your reply. I've already been on fluconazole for over two weeks. My probme is that while some parts of my body is getting cleared up, new lesions have also appeared in the past few days. Is it normal to get more lesions during a treatment? Is this a sign that fluconazole isn't effective and I should switch to something else?
II with the last outbreak being almost two years ago, on the 15 Jul 08 I came out with what seemed like a penile yeast infection, I was treated with one fluconazole 150 and Lotrisone cream for 14 days, went away well, I also take Zocor for my hereditary high cholesterol.
Around the 14th August 08 I was unusually very stressed about a business deal and later had some unusual dizziness, (It was accompanied by a short bout of dry long coughs), went away quickly..
