5789562 tn?1374459029 It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. Avatar n tn My big toe and to a lesser extent toe immediately adjacent have all the symptoms of the unsightly onychomycosis. The skin next to my big toe has for some time had a reddish appearance, but has just recently starting eroding and has rapidly deteriorated. There is no pain, but it is very unsightly and no amount of moisturing helps. Because Lamisil has potential liver toxicity and is expensive, my doctor did not seem to favor treating my onychomycosis systemically.
Avatar f tn hi! i know this could be quite late but maybe this could help you. my friend was also positive for onychomycosis. i think he used zerofungus to get rid of that. i'm not sure if there's anything to worry about lamisil. i think you should check reviews.
Avatar f tn Soak you nails for about 15 min in warm water with a cheap instant tea solution mixed in. Daily until fungus disappears. No side effects either. Tannic acid is the miracle worker.
Avatar m tn Nails that appear detached may have to be removed if indicated or give way for the growth of a new nail. This may be a case of onychomycosis or as you have mentioned a fungal infection of the nail itself. Have you had this assessed by a dermatologist? Topical medications may not be enough to treat fungal infections of the nails. You may need oral medications for these. Discuss this with your dermatologist.
Avatar f tn was found during my annual) and my dr (who is new and i do not normally see) prescribed me diflucan for 12 weeks, one pill, once a week. I have never heard of this or treated a yeast infection with diflucan like this before and am starting to think this doctor I saw was a quack/slave to drug company kind of doctor. Has anyone ever been prescribed diflucan this way?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
Avatar f tn my dr gave me fluconazole for my infection ,3 pills in 3 days .should we skip or take it regular.because she told me take it wednesday ,thursday ,and sunday,,thank..
9474591 tn?1403997568 I've been getting "flare-ups" like these for several years now. Maybe every 6 months. It begins as hardened blisters with nothing underneath that eventually peel. It can be very painful. My dermatologist listed it as onychomycosis but I've tried many ointments and nothing has worked. It seems to just have to run its course. I'd rather get to the root of the problem and figure out whether I perhaps have a deficiency in something or maybe something even worse.
Avatar f tn How many times have you taken it, and has it helped at all. Best to ask for a definitive test for fungus if not improving, but please follow-up with your doctor to discuss your concerns as there may still be some other tests to ensure it is fungus.
Avatar f tn For yeast infections I was always given either monistat or fluconazole. A bacterial infection like BV would require metronidazole (flagyl).
Avatar m tn If you have a nail fungal infection (onychomycosis) the nail may appear thickened, brittle and dull, with no luster or shine. The dark color is caused by debris building up under your nail. Nail fungus can be difficult to treat, and repeated infections are common. Over-the-counter antifungal nail creams and ointments are available, but they aren't very effective. You will require prescription anti-fungal medications like Itraconazole (Sporanox) or Fluconazole (Diflucan).
Avatar f tn Hi doctor,i got this jock itch last year, first i tried tropical oitment like clotrimazole and miconazole but dint help. Then i tried itraconazole 200mg a day for a month as suggested by another friend. It cured my itch but again came back after 10 days .
Avatar f tn I have suffered from a fungus attack on my fingernails for 5 months. It began with a rash in the palm of my hands. Within weeks, my fingernails showed spots at the base of the nails, and then rapidly became destroyed. I took Lamisel for 6 weeks, beginning in Nov/Dec. I've also been prescribed various topical anti-fungal creams (Clotrimazole and Betamethanose; and Ketoconazole), as well as an anti-fungal nail polish (Ciclopriox), and also a nail film (Umecta).
Avatar m tn Anyone ever take fluconazole 150mg oral pill for a yeast infection in their first trimester. I phoned a pharmacist and he said it was fine and all the research I've done says as long as it's not in high doses the baby should be ok, but I am having some major anxiety.
Avatar f tn Usually a pharmacist is correct because they have a guideline that pops up that says do not take for these and they know medications so well. I work in a pharmacy, so I always ask them if it's safe to take anything during pregnancy because they know.
Avatar f tn I made a doctor appt for that following Wednesday where I was tested. My results came back positive for a yeast infection and negative for everything else...except the herpes blood test. My result was <0.90. According to the graph that was posted with the results, is positive. There was another standard graph that said 0-0.89 was normal. My doctor says I am positive for HSV 1. Can someone please explain to me how she came to that conclusion? I have never had any symptoms of HSV 1...
Avatar n tn Does a one time 150 mg dose of fluconazole for vaginal thrush affect the effectiveness of hormonal birth control (the pill)?
Avatar f tn I personally like the one day Monostat ovules for yeast infections but fluconazole works really great. Hope it clears it up quickly!
Avatar m tn t a line/steak. I just want to get a sense for whether or not I should push for a biopsy based on how the disease works. It would seem, based on the information provided, that this would be an unusual presentation for subungual melanoma. But then information can be misleading.
Avatar f tn Based off the symptoms I was having they told me that I had a yeast infection-(I had one about three months ago). They prescribed me fluconazole. I took it and felt better, but went back into my gynecologist for a follow up on Thursday(my symptoms were almost completely gone at this point.) They took a swab and said it the results said no it wasn’t a yeast infection, but she said yes she was sure I had had one. I took she told me to take the second dose of fluconazole, which I did that day.
