Has anyone ever taken fluconazole? It's a tablet you take (only one) for yeast infection. My pharmacist said it's not for pregnant women but when I called the doc and told him what the pharmacist said he said it was ok to take. Has anyone else been prescribed this? I'm worried.
Fluconazole is an antifungal and one pill stays in the blood stream for 3 days. It is normal to take a 'loading dose' the first time which helps get a jump start on the infection. I would take it as the doctor directed.

A month ago I self diagnosed and treated a yeast infection based on my previous yeast infection (diagnosed by a doctor a few years ago). I treated with Monistat (miconazole)cream, which mostly cleared up my symptoms. I still felt somewhat irritated down there so I went to the doctor. She took a swab sample that came back negative for yeast/bacteria/gonorrhea/chlamydia.I felt fine for 2 weeks, then felt intense burning during intercourse . A few days after that, the itch was back.
It is not killing probiotic cultures in your bowels. And 6 weeks is not really longterm, especially since fluconazole is not an antibiotic, but an antifungal. Candida is a mean one, and hard to get rid of. But Candida hates a balanced diet with lots of beans, veggies, wholemeal, yoghurt and fruits. Reduce your meat and sugar intake to aid the meds to kill it off. Good luck!

Get it seen to so that you can get the correct diagnose and the correct treatment as soon as possible. Avoid kissing and oral sex to avoid passing it on.
It does not mean that just because you have a bacterial or fungal problem in the private area that you have been unfaithful. Men can also get fungal problems and again it does not mean that they have been unfaithful.
If your diet consists of a lot of sugar and refined processed foods, or you have been on any antibiotics, this will encourage yeast growth on the body.

I've had this irritation in the area under my foreskin for over a year now. A fungal cream seems to keep it at bay and I've even taken Diflucan/Fluconazole (200 mg daily) for a week. They seem to help but yet it comes back. It's manageable and I can masturbate (with some temporary redness and slight burning sensation).
Apparently I can consistently getting yeast infections due to hormonam imbalance. I'm afraid to overdose on the fluconazole. Is there a natural way of getting rid of it? hi , itis possible for urine infection to spread to vagina and even prostate in men it results as a complication from a uti and usually comes from bacteria in the gut most likely e coli - you on antibiotics ? is the vaginal infection thrush ? coz if so thats fungus not bacteria and antibiotics wont help that 1 dose of fluconazole will tho .
I am not sure where to begin. I am prone to getting uti's- multiple a year. I recently got put on antibiotics for a uti, when I finished I was to start on a daily dose of antibiotics to prevent bacteria from building up. My vagina began drying out, and I had white discharge that seems to cover my entire vulva down to my anus when it dried. It was painful. I've developed small pimple like bumps around my butt, not on my vagina. They look like they had a white head.
I have had rashes and dark skin on and around scrotum and inner thigh for last 5-6 years. In the beginning rashes and small cuts used to appear between inner thighs and they would heal themselves but they left dark and loose skin when they disappeared. But for last 2-3 months these rashes and cuts started appearing again in ferocious way and these have extended on testicle skins too. When they appear it itches too much results in small cuts with small blood. i m very depressed.
oh and the doctor gave me medicine for thrush anyway (two 100 mg fluconazole pills one to take that day and one for 2 days later) and it didnt go away so it must not be thrush
The pill my doctor gives me is Diflucan. She only gives it to me when I have one. I get one whenever I have to take antibiotics.. It does not matter how much freaken yogart I eat.
I think the diet goes for when you start getting them and I did not get a yeast infection ever until I had sex as well. So I am thinking that it could help. Although since I only get them when I take antibiotics I never paid attention to looking for the diet again.
Anyone ever take fluconazole 150mg oral pill for a yeast infection in their first trimester. I phoned a pharmacist and he said it was fine and all the research I've done says as long as it's not in high doses the baby should be ok, but I am having some major anxiety.

Non perfumed soap and those that have a pH level like our skin is fine for men and women. Should he get any irritation and itching, natural live (set) yogurt applied to his cleaned and gently dried bits will help, this is also helpful for men and women.
Sometimes the irritation may be caused by an infection in the bladder when bacteria enter it through the urethra, women have a much shorter urethra than men. Having rampant sex can cause this.
If you think you really had an allergic reaction to the Fluconazole and forgot to tell the doctor you might want to call the office and tell them that and see if they still want you to use this since it is in the same class as the other drug.
Yes the doctor is right that the fungus likes creases of the skin. So I don't know how that helps you but it is just information. Sexual partners won't always get fungal infections. So don't worry about it.
I've taken Clindamycin and fluconazole to kill a yeast infection. But now my doctor tells me I might possibly get it back because antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I'm not even sure...
Based off the symptoms I was having they told me that I had a yeast infection-(I had one about three months ago). They prescribed me fluconazole. I took it and felt better, but went back into my gynecologist for a follow up on Thursday(my symptoms were almost completely gone at this point.) They took a swab and said it the results said no it wasn’t a yeast infection, but she said yes she was sure I had had one. I took she told me to take the second dose of fluconazole, which I did that day.
I work out 4 times a week so i sweat a lot. But 4 months ago, it started itching down there especially around my perianal area! When i got concerned i check my perianal area and saw that the skin are lighter than normal. I've used miconazole thinking it might be a jock itch but nothing happened. Then i read something about tropical hydrocortisone and still nothing happened so then i decided to see a gynecologist.
