Avatar f tn So, give Xopenex as long as he has the attacks and let him take flovent regularly. Please discuss these options with your doctor, he can guide you. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Flovent starts to work with one dose but takes up to 2 weeks to get full benefit. You probably were given a prescription dose that is a little higher than if he was on it daily. The higher dose will allow the medication to work faster. Your doctor wants to balance the need for getting enough steriods into your son to help his lungs but not using steriods more than necessary. The best you can do is follow the instructions to the letter and start the steriods at the first sign of a cold.
Avatar f tn Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Should I use my flovent with a new 5 day rx of pred for asthma? Flare up a result of the flu so dr orderedpred 20mg twice a day for 5 days.
Avatar n tn I am asthmatic myself, so I can say with certainty that you take your ventolin first and then you take your reliever. In your case flovent. Hope that has helped, making sure you take them correctly can be just as important as taking the medication as well.
Avatar m tn I had the same exact problem with flovent and high deductible insurance... Went to Mayo Clinic after years of swollowing issues and being misdiagnosed with acid reflux. Mayo prescribed flovent but when I got to my local allergist with the EE results he said a lot of people use flonase and he prescribed it to me. two squirts a day by mouth in the morning... Has Fluticasone helped your swollowing symptoms any?
Avatar f tn I was initially prescribed Anoro when diagnosed with emphysema. It did not work even after trying it a year. I was then given Advair Diskus 250/50, after 2 1/2 months called the doctor because of using emergency inhaler Albuterol Sulfate 90mgc min 10 times a day. Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common?
Avatar n tn my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
Avatar m tn Explain about your insurance and see what he can come up with. One thing with Flovent is that after you use it you have to rinse or you could get thrush or bad sore throats. What helped me: 1. Flovent and take it properly 2. Generic prescription for Prilosec 3. Did allergy testing and the rotation diet to determine what I was allergic to, and it does change, more allergic to some, less allergic to others, new allergies.
Avatar m tn I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well. Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
Avatar f tn I am 36 and diagnosed with asthma in 1999. Since then, I have used Flovent 4 times daily and my weight increased rapidly; I have gone up 8 sizes and I exercise daily. Two or three years ago, I started experiencing edema in my feet and I soon developed an underactive thyroid. I experienced bipolar-like mood swings and the edema increased. I went to three different endos who were not very helpful.
1555914 tn?1296474056 If it is, you may want to ask your doctor about using a spacer. A spacer is a tubular chamber that holds the inhaler in one end while the other is the mouth piece. It makes developing the propper technique much easier and also allows much more of the medication to make it into the lungs. Respiratory therapists insist that their patients use them. Take care and feel better.
Avatar f tn Does anyone get a racing heart from taking flovent, or has expienced dizzeness, short of breath and lots of headaches?
Avatar m tn I am so used to my birth control that I always start on or around the time of my spacer pills. This month I started my period at the time of my spacer pills on Dec. 9th. It was a normal 6 day/regular flow period for me ending on the 15th. To my surprise I started again on Christams Eve... Dec. 24th. So from the end of one period, to the beginning of another was only 9 days apart. It is currently day 10 of this second period. The first 7 days were just as a normal period...
Avatar n tn In the x-ray room, my daughter went hysterical therefore the nurse held her by the jaw to prevent her from struggling, pulled the x-ray’s cone right up besides her mouth and took the X-ray shot. The cone was not attached to a long spacer. In fact, I’m not even sure if there was a short spacer. It just looks like an integrated part of the X-ray. The X-ray machine was not digital and I am unsure what film-speed it uses (D, E or F speed).
Avatar f tn OK my 7 year old has having problems with the space in her mouth. The dentist said we needed to put in a space maintainer and pull out her 4 canine teeth. So that when her other teeth start to fall out there will be space for them to come in. Since we put in the maint-fixed bilateral spacer the space where to canine teeth are suppose to be has almost closed. I have went and seen the dentist because the wire pushes on the bottom four front teeth which are all adult teeth.
Avatar n tn ve had this floating spacer for about 8 years, with no problems and no cost (insurance paid). I was appalled at how something like this easy answer was not offered to me in the first place, but i guess it's all about money. I think the only reason he offered it at all is because of all the insurance claims he gets from our whole family.
Avatar n tn I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?
Avatar n tn He had a spell in hospital last year for a couple of days and is now taking a preventative Clenil 50 inhaler one puff am and pm. He takes this with a spacer. I am breastfeeding my two year old. Sometimes when I administer the inhaler, as he breathes in and out I can smell or taste the medicine. I usually assume that the amount going into me is minute as it's coming out into the air although I usually try to duck out of the air flow!
746512 tn?1388807580 I'm having a lot of trouble lately with my asthma control now that I've started classes again. I seem to be ultra sensitive now (more than I was last year on campus) of cigarette smoke. I have to walk outside to get to some of classes and if I pass more than one person smoking or get too many wifts in my face, my chest really tightens up and I'm forced to use my rescue inhaler. The problem is this has been an almost daily occurence and I hate taking ventolin that regularly.
920032 tn?1550680156 I sympathize with your issues on finding meds that work. I also cannot take the dry powders. The technique for using them is different than other inhalers. If your doctor didn't train you well on how to use them, that could be part of the problem you had. Also, the fact that they are powder and the powder settles on the vocal cords and other parts of the respiratory tract causes irritation. That makes me cough constantly as well.
Avatar m tn My infectious disease specialist wants to go with at least 8 weeks of antibiotics, iv, along with the antibiotic spacer. Then wait about a month without antibiotics before re-implanting with the metal to see if any signs of infections show up before the final metal implant. One other question, has any research been done to find out exactly how long the antibiotic spacers contiune to release antibiotics locally?
Avatar f tn I can only add my Meezy has Asthma and as I mentioned in my previous post to you, it is controlled with an inhaler with the med Flovent . This is a steroid, but it goes directly into the lungs. The vet should take x-.rays to be able to see how serious it is and diagnose the proper amount of Flovent You will know when your Gizmo is having an attack when she acts like she is going to throw up a hairball, but doesn't.
