Flovent starts to work with one dose but takes up to 2 weeks to get full benefit. You probably were given a prescription dose that is a little higher than if he was on it daily. The higher dose will allow the medication to work faster.
Your doctor wants to balance the need for getting enough steriods into your son to help his lungs but not using steriods more than necessary.
The best you can do is follow the instructions to the letter and start the steriods at the first sign of a cold.
Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
I've had asthma for 21 years, been on Flovent to control it, I'm having sideffect with Flovent and Qvar, is this common after use of inhalers for so long, what can be done if a person become allergic to inhalers, very worred since my asthma is Modered.
I had the same exact problem with flovent and high deductible insurance... Went to Mayo Clinic after years of swollowing issues and being misdiagnosed with acid reflux. Mayo prescribed flovent but when I got to my local allergist with the EE results he said a lot of people use flonase and he prescribed it to me. two squirts a day by mouth in the morning... Has Fluticasone helped your swollowing symptoms any?
I was initially prescribed Anoro when diagnosed with emphysema. It did not work even after trying it a year. I was then given Advair Diskus 250/50, after 2 1/2 months called the doctor because of using emergency inhaler Albuterol Sulfate 90mgc min 10 times a day.
Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common?
my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
Explain about your insurance and see what he can come up with. One thing with Flovent is that after you use it you have to rinse or you could get thrush or bad sore throats.

2. Generic prescription for Prilosec
3. Did allergy testing and the rotation diet to determine what I was allergic to, and it does change, more allergic to some, less allergic to others, new allergies.
I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well.
Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
My doc gave me a tube to put my inhaler into that is supposed to help with that. It's calles an aerochamber or something along those lines. I'd ask your doc for one.
I am 36 and diagnosed with asthma in 1999. Since then, I have used Flovent 4 times daily and my weight increased rapidly; I have gone up 8 sizes and I exercise daily. Two or three years ago, I started experiencing edema in my feet and I soon developed an underactive thyroid. I experienced bipolar-like mood swings and the edema increased. I went to three different endos who were not very helpful.
Does anyone get a racing heart from taking flovent, or has expienced dizzeness, short of breath and lots of headaches?
I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my
moderate severe copd, I have just started
Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I
cutdown on the combivent ?
I am trying to get him off the mask and to the pipe but it has been difficult. He has been treated with many things from hydrocortisone to various antibiotic creams,ointments, and currently erythromycin gel. The gel is mainly alcohol and really burns his face. Does anyone have any ideas of how to help?
I can only add my Meezy has Asthma and as I mentioned in my previous post to you, it is controlled with an inhaler with the med Flovent . This is a steroid, but it goes directly into the lungs.
The vet should take x-.rays to be able to see how serious it is and diagnose the proper amount of Flovent You will know when your Gizmo is having an attack when she acts like she is going to throw up a hairball, but doesn't.
What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm.
When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.
My 13 year old daughter has been recently diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. The treatments of which has been the use of Flovent and an elemental diet (Elecare) have not been working. Her symptoms are immediate regurgetation or vomiting of EVERYTHING SHE EATS OR DRINKS. Water, vitamins, anything that goes in comes right back out. She has lost amlost 30 lbs but is somehow remaining steady for about a month now, thank God.
