Avatar f tn I have a niece that has a peanut allergy and a nephew that has a severe peanut allergy. He carries an epi pen with him but he is in his twenties and has had the peanut allergy since he was a child. My niece is only five years old. Her mom is not allergic to peanuts , but my niece is allergic to peanuts. You have to be careful of ice cream too as this could contain traces of peanuts. My niece's mom is extremely careful.
Avatar f tn The inhalers that I am on are Ventolin and Flovent. Last night, I started coughing a bit. This morning I was wheezing and coughing. Maybe it's the weather changing since it was 64 degrees out today.

Avatar n tn My 13 year old daughter has been recently diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. The treatments of which has been the use of Flovent and an elemental diet (Elecare) have not been working. Her symptoms are immediate regurgetation or vomiting of EVERYTHING SHE EATS OR DRINKS. Water, vitamins, anything that goes in comes right back out. She has lost amlost 30 lbs but is somehow remaining steady for about a month now, thank God.
Avatar f tn m allergic to grass and almost every tree, dust and animal my allergist says but the test sheet does not show elevated results on a few he says. Also taking singular, pantroprazol, Claritin and flovent. My allergy test from 2014 to my current one shows my allergies increased and I developed increased allergies to existing allergies and got a few more. I had a pulmonologist perform a lung function test and everything came back perfect.
Avatar f tn I also suffer from a lifetime of sever allergies and allergy induced asthma. I have been sick for 3 weeks and now have pnemonia. I am on my second round of antibiotics and my doc wants me to re-start my flovent 2x/day. I have read that steroids are bad for treatment and can actually prevent the treatment from working...is this true? Is there any documented evidence I can show to my doctor one way or the other?
467126 tn?1283144858 s a superstition that your child could develop a peanut allergy if you do. I, however, ate peanut butter every single day and my kids are allergy-free!!!
7639611 tn?1392877261 I am a 27-year-old woman and this is my first winter in Colorado, I moved here from New York. I have a long history of asthma and allergies, particularly to pollen, dust mites, and pet dander. My asthma is controlled with Flovent. In the past, I haven't even needed Flovent but use it now because I live with a year and a half-old cat. (I've lived with this cat their whole life.
Avatar n tn Eat away. It is only dangerous if YOU have a peanut allergy. Because obviously you don't want to get sick while pregnant.

Avatar m tn I know I'm not allergic to peanuts but about a year ago I started having really bad stomach pains everytime I ate peanut butter. I grew up on peanut butter but now I can't even eat candy with any sort of peanut butter type filling like a butterfinger. How do I find out why it gives me such bad stomach pains? I really like peanut butter and want to have it again.
427382 tn?1298209586 I have heard of this. The theory is that you will increase the likelihood of your child having a peanut allergy. Do I think its true... NO. But, that is the theory behind it. I would talk to your pediatrician and find out what his or her thoughts are on it.
Avatar m tn Foods (mostly spices) that I am allergic to do not contain peanut or shrimp. These allergy food cause swelling in my mouth, tongue and throat quickly from contact only. I used to eat peanut butter and jelly at least 5 times a week. Bags of peanuts for snacks, 20-30 shelled peanuts at a time. And shrimp I'd eat about every other week for dinner until I was full which is about 8-12 medium shrimp. I'd end up with left overs and have them the next day.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 30 years old. Was changed by my doctor from advair 500/50 twice a day to flovent 220 two puffs twice a day as he believed the LABA in advair was making asthma worse. He was right and feel better. Even when I haven't been on flovent/advair my peak flow has been totally normal as well as all parts of the pulmonary function test. My only main asthma symptom is tight chest hard to take a good deep breath inward. I've never had a challenge test or anything like that.
Avatar m tn what once is a delayed reaction as you describe can escalate without warning into a more serious peanut allergy needing an epi pen. I'd see an allergist and be tests and do always treat peanuts with respect. Repeated exposure is what can cause an allergy to form .. the body continues to build antibodies against the item . this case peanuts. and the reaction can change suddenly .. this is what we've been told. PS: My kids are + in blood to peanuts; yet don't react ..
Avatar f tn Switched up steriod to inhaled Flovent 44 instead of nebulizer and albuterol qid. No results. Chest x-ray and blood allergy (why not at this point) ordered and clear. Follow up with Pulm realized no coughing at night and diagnosed with Protracted Bronchitis. Treated 3 weeks of Augmentin 500mg BID x three weeks. Nasal and throat cultures test negative except for rhinovirus.
Avatar n tn The common existing food allergens are Peanut flour, peanut butter, powdered egg white, Powdered/fresh milk Soy milk, soy flour Wheat breads, flour etc. As allergic reactions are IgE mediated, blood tests will show increase in these levels secondary to a food allergy. The problem with the food allergy testing is sometimes the amount of food they challenge with may be not sufficient to elicit any allergic reactions.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Avatar f tn Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Avatar f tn He has tried a lot of medicines (both allopathic nd Homeopathic) but all seems to be in vain . we have doubts that it could be allergy recently he had a test for allegrens too. He has reduced a lot and is very lathargic all the time with reduced stamina. At times we feel that his cough is okay nd well under controll but then it returns as if never gone. we don't know it's exact cause and in what direction to proceed to get it cured.
Avatar m tn Previously, I was using medical marijuana and never had a problem, but moved to a very conservative state for work so that is no longer an option. I use Prilosec when my reflux gets bad. My doctor also put me on Flovent after I had my esophagus stretched. This is really painful, and I would like to get it diagnosed. I live in a very rural area and the doctors here are generally very bad, so what should I be asking them to get them headed in the right direction with diagnosing this?
