flovent or advair

Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this? I have not been advised supplemental oxygen as of yet.

I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?

I am using combivent(4x a day ) and serevent diskus 50mcg 2x for my moderate severe copd, I have just started Flovent 50mcg inhaler. Is this OK or should I cutdown on the combivent ?

I have fitness induced asthma, and my doctor put me on advair or something like that. And the next few days after taking it, I got really bad chest pains when I'd run. Has that happened to anybody else? Should I worry?

I got in to see my doctor and he said it was probably asthma and gave me an Advair inhaler to use if this ever happens again. A month later I had a similar episode and I used the inhaler and it didnt seem to help. At least not soon enough. My symptoms eventually subsided. I went back to the doc and he ordered a chest xray, blood tests and heart tests which all came back ok.

I'd say it's the increased triggers. Advair can definitely be pricey. Might look into other long-acting beta agonists. Serevent is the LABA that is in Advair (Formoterol is available as Foradil. Salmeterol is the LABA in Advair). It's basically Flovent and Serevent in one Discus or inhaler. Symbicort is another combination steroid/LABA (Pulmicort + Formoterol). I don't know if any combination of those options would be better from a price perspective.

Is it safe to stop taking Advair cold turkey when my symptoms improve or do I need to take something else to come off it slower?

how long does it take advair to get out of your system after being on it for 3 years(250 twice a day)? I just quit advair and doing other alternative medicines to help me.

flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm. When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.

However this could just be due to the lack of consistency in my test results to point at asthma. I am trying advair 250/50 right now, and it has improved my symptoms 90% within an hour of the first dose (minus one very stressful day that sucked and I couldn't breathe). However, I have always been very healthy and thus took coverage off of prescription drugs 2 years ago because I've had maybe 10 mild antibotic prescriptions in my 20 year life.

I have been given Advair to take for my copd, but one side effect is fast and irregular heart beat, chest pain and increased BP----I take Metoprolol succ er for my PSVT--- -Will the Advair Diskus work against my metoprolol meds? I am alllergic to Penasylin, tetrocycoline, decadron, dyphahidromine, and benedril. My other meds I take are: zolof, welbrutrin, seroquel xr, gabapentine,tizanidine hcl and pravastatin sodium----will there be any adverse reactions to any of these meds?

Hi, I am 30 years old. Was changed by my doctor from advair 500/50 twice a day to flovent 220 two puffs twice a day as he believed the LABA in advair was making asthma worse. He was right and feel better. Even when I haven't been on flovent/advair my peak flow has been totally normal as well as all parts of the pulmonary function test. My only main asthma symptom is tight chest hard to take a good deep breath inward. I've never had a challenge test or anything like that.

I have the albuterol for both, flovent,& advair. I take the albuterol & flovent inhalers 4 times a day plus the machine.Advair twice. But I still have flair ups & when I do the best thing I have fond for me & my grandson is taking a very hot pot of water of the stove putting it on the floor under us. Then take a towel or blanket cover our head so we can get the stem from the water. I know that's an old thing but it works so well to brake up stuff in between meds.

it seems like advair is making my asthma worse. i started taking advair like 7 month ago and it seemed like for the first few months it was working but i had to become dependant on it everyday or else i would start weezing nonstop. after that my weezing was worst than ever and i started noticing that after i used advair my weezing was much worse. i saw this thread yesterday and now for a day and a half i havent used it and i feel alot better.

Hi everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind right now. My preventive asthma medication seems to cause nausea and general cloudiness when I take them. When I stop taking them, the dizziness stops so I know that it's the cause. I've tried a handful of different medicines like Flovent, Dulera, Qvar, Advair, Pulmicort and even Singulair and they all cause this nauseating effect. I'm wondering if any of you know what this might be and any way to stop it.

is this true? Is there any documented evidence I can show to my doctor one way or the other? Flovent is a sytemic steroidal inhaler that I have had good results from in the past but I absolutly can't risk treatment failure! Is there another option to reduce lung immflamation and the releentless coughing that I can take????

I was on it for over a year and then they switched my meds around to what they are currently because I was still having alot of problems with my symptoms...Flovent, serevent (essentially advair), singulair, zithromax and xopenex ( I am on several others but these are specifically for my asthmatic problems). Some people do very well on Theo...I hope that it works out for you.

t getting enough air and could barely walk. I never had any allergy or Asthma problems my entire life. After i was put on Advair my breathing problems became worse. I started having more problems with my health. I couldn't breath out of my nose and i constantly had a drip down my throught. Spasms all over and squeezing like a rubberband around my chest. My ears began ringing and of course headaches and feeling depressed not like myself.

I would think that you should be experienced with it. First of all if you keep on having pneumonias, walking or otherwise, ask your doctor to give you a special shot for pneumonia which will prevent you from having another one. This pneumonia inaculation is good for yrs. In my opinion this would benefit your health. Prednisone should help make you stronger as it is a steroid. I dont know about avalox as I never took it.

She took singulair and flovent inhaler and walked 3 miles a day. Two years ago she needed to use Duoneb via nebulizer. She was not short of breath at any time but had a few bouts with chronic bronchitis. Since moving to Florida a year ago, her husband died in Dec of 2007 and she is now short of breath. Her pulmonologist in FL took her off all of lung medications and within 3 days she was wheezing like a maniac.

COPD Fev 45-50% , have been on Flovent,/Spiriva/ Proair 10 years and am sensitive to medications. I dont smoke. Have had increasingly reactive airways for 3 years, had first Dxed exacerbation last fall triggered by woodsmoke. No congestion and did not take antibiotics. Pulmo said airways 'sounded just like asthma' but do not have that Dx. Airways felt raspy, swollen, inflamed. Have slowly recovered on a higher dose of Flovent.
