Flovent not working

Common Questions and Answers about Flovent not working

flovent

Avatar f tn Flovent is a corticosteroid. It is not generally prescribed for short-term use. Inhaled steroids carry substantial risk, especially for children. Ask about alternative treatments if the xopenex is not sufficiently helpful..
Avatar n tn Is the flovent the same type of medicine lije as the albuterol inhailor. I can use the albuterol inhaler but i am not sure if i can use the flovent or not. Can someone give me this answer please? i have looked and looked for this type of answer but cant seem to find it any where. I would appreciate if someone could help me out please.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?
Avatar f tn I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist. I suspect my little guy needs oral antibiotics + a topical treatment to get rid of this.
Avatar n tn flovent and ventolin which to take first?
Avatar n tn My 13 year old daughter has been recently diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. The treatments of which has been the use of Flovent and an elemental diet (Elecare) have not been working. Her symptoms are immediate regurgetation or vomiting of EVERYTHING SHE EATS OR DRINKS. Water, vitamins, anything that goes in comes right back out. She has lost amlost 30 lbs but is somehow remaining steady for about a month now, thank God.
Avatar m tn This year i completely forgot to start my meds, so i had a minor asthma attack. i I went to the doctor. He put me on flovent, my albuterol, also to keep taking my allergy pills, Zyrtec. So i started feeling better.. Im a 28 year old, im working out alot cause i know im a bit overweight. im a runner. And since that attack i havent been able to have a full workout. I lose my breath easily, my chest feels tight, i feel like yawning all the time to catch some air.
Avatar f tn I was initially prescribed Anoro when diagnosed with emphysema. It did not work even after trying it a year. I was then given Advair Diskus 250/50, after 2 1/2 months called the doctor because of using emergency inhaler Albuterol Sulfate 90mgc min 10 times a day. Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common?
Avatar n tn my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
Avatar f tn These used to keep my heart rate down to below 100, but now they are not working as good. i get excessive heartbeats up to 130, but at least these medicines are keeping me more calmer so that i do not get panic disorder and make my heartrate go up any higher. Does anyone know if a low dose beta blocker will really be harmful to my asthma. Thank you.
Avatar n tn t been able to sleep hardly at all. This has never happened before. I take combivent and flovent 2 times a day and have been doing this for a long time. I don't understand why I can't sleep when nothing has changed for me. I have tried pm meds and also ambien with no luck sleeping. What is going on for this to happen to me?
Avatar m tn Yes, the medications you are taking, especially Flovent and Spiriva can cause burning, tingling, numbness and pain in various parts of the body. However, these are not the only COPD medications. Also Flovent can worsen asthma like symptoms and cause broncho-spasm. In my opinion you should be switched to other drugs. Asthma can be treated in many ways and one has to find the best method by trial and error. One way to treat is through nebulization.
Avatar f tn ve been on it, that you taper your dose of the Flovent slowly and do not stop it abruptly. Doing so could cause many major problems.
Avatar f tn Does anyone get a racing heart from taking flovent, or has expienced dizzeness, short of breath and lots of headaches?
Avatar n tn You should use it as prescribed and/or as needed. You doctor added the FLovent because he/she did not feel that you were getting the control you needed from the previous treatment plan. I would consider the Flovent as an addition to you previous routine and not change anything. Take care and have a blessed New Year.
Avatar n tn Flovent is not a rescue inhaler. Who told you that? Only Albuterol nebs or inhalers are rescue inhalers, Flovent is aka fluticasone, you can grow aspergillus with flovent and advair. Did you read the patient information that it can also cause resp infections as well as cataracts, over time? Have you changed your toothbrush, had dental cleanings or told your MD/ Have you been offered Mycelex lozenges or Diflucan?
Avatar n tn They are both on pulmacort and albuterol and my son was just put on predisolone. Nothing is working!! Does anyone have any advice? We are a NON smoking home and would NEVER let anyone near our children with ciggarettes. We do not have pets either. I just dont know what to do anymore.
Avatar n tn I had two MD’s say anxiety is my problem I had one MD give me Flovent which really made my stomach bad and soon after my breathing discomfort turned in to exercise induced asthma or spasm. I stopped the Flovent after four months because it would help for a week and then stop working. My stomach improved after stopping. It was by accident that I used the proair inhaler and found that if I use that inhaler 1-2 times a day my breathing discomfort disappeared and no bronchospasm with exercise.
212161 tn?1599427282 i have the xopenex hfa 45mcg one and she just gave me the flovent 110 i have not got filled so looks like i can use either right. tanks again you dont know how releif i feel.
Avatar f tn Hi, I will try to keep this as short as possible. I am a female in my 20s and always been healthy. I do not have a history of asthma in my childhood. I have bad chest tightness with occasional shortness of breath. My symptoms are bad some days and gone on other days. My previous doctor prescribed me Flovent. Also, I was prescribed Albuterol for a rescue inhaler. Flovent didn't work so my dose was increased. I am still on it and still not working.
1754037 tn?1327886811 I'm not sure if it is or not. I have asthma as well and never used my inhaler while pregnant. If your in doubt, call your doctor and/or a pharmacy and they should be able to tell you.

Avatar f tn My best peak flow is 500. I am a 56 year old woman and was not on any preventative asthma meds at the time of catching the cold and development of the sinus infection. I am on Plaquenil 400mg Metoprolol Tartrate 50mg BID, Proventil HFA 2puffs every 4 hours, Flovent Diskus 250mcg (started one week ago), Nasonex, Augmentin 875 BID. I have had no problems with my cardio selective Beta Blocker prior to catching this cold.
Avatar m tn What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
1315759 tn?1274044788 my asthma is not under control, at work it always bothers me. i am on the albuterol pump plus the breathing machine, which both does no good. what other inahlers can i use? or the breathing treatments? at the hospital, they give me xopenex, which works ok, not really good for me. the last time i went to the hospital, the therapist gave me atrovent and xopenex, with 4 doses in one. i told them it was making me too jittery, way more than normal and nobody listened.
20811006 tn?1518459943 I became ill feeling and felt I had the flu and went into the ER where the prescribed Azithromycin and Prednisone I was reluctant to take them as I do not take medicine unless its absolutely necessary, Not even a Tylenol.
