Flovent max dose

Common Questions and Answers about Flovent max dose

flovent

Avatar f tn Flovent starts to work with one dose but takes up to 2 weeks to get full benefit. You probably were given a prescription dose that is a little higher than if he was on it daily. The higher dose will allow the medication to work faster. Your doctor wants to balance the need for getting enough steriods into your son to help his lungs but not using steriods more than necessary. The best you can do is follow the instructions to the letter and start the steriods at the first sign of a cold.
Avatar f tn The best thing for an asthma flare is albuterol and lots of it (max dose every 3 - 4 hours according to prescription). Prednesone will knock it out very quickly, but that is an evil drug which should only be used as a last resort. The albuterol will mess with your BP though. Flovent takes about 2 weeks to reach full affectiveness. So you may want to be patient with that and see how you feel in another week. You might try taking some guiafenesen (plain Mucinex).
Avatar m tn I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well. Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
Avatar n tn A doctor MAY have prescribed you to take the ventolin before you take the flovent to ensure the flovent reached deep into the lungs but give them a call and double check. In that case - ventolin first to open the lungs and then flovent to reduce inflammation.
Avatar f tn flovent and serevent. Flovent is a corticosteroid for inflammation and serevent is a long acting bronchodialator. Serevent is the drug that can interfere with heart rhythm. When I started having symptoms in April, I stopped using Advair and now I only use Flovent. When I saw my pulmonologist I told him that I was only taking flovent (he had given me a prescription for both to use when my asthma got really bad.) He agreed with my decision.

Avatar m tn As to your question about the dose of flovent, in the treatment of asthma, and whether you will “eventually need a higher dosage as I get older”, the answer is that the dose required may vary over time and is unpredictable. The general rule is that one should be given the lowest dose of an inhaled steroid, required to result in very good-excellent control of asthma. This will require a combined effort by you and your doctor to establish that dose.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?
Avatar f tn Within days of stopping the flovent again the rash was back, even worse than the first time. I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist.
Avatar f tn I've had asthma for 21 years, been on Flovent to control it, I'm having sideffect with Flovent and Qvar, is this common after use of inhalers for so long, what can be done if a person become allergic to inhalers, very worred since my asthma is Modered.
Avatar f tn Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
Avatar n tn my pharmacist says I shouldn't be using flovent but ventolin. When I told my Dr. I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
Avatar f tn Should I use my flovent with a new 5 day rx of pred for asthma? Flare up a result of the flu so dr orderedpred 20mg twice a day for 5 days.
Avatar n tn My 13 year old daughter has been recently diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. The treatments of which has been the use of Flovent and an elemental diet (Elecare) have not been working. Her symptoms are immediate regurgetation or vomiting of EVERYTHING SHE EATS OR DRINKS. Water, vitamins, anything that goes in comes right back out. She has lost amlost 30 lbs but is somehow remaining steady for about a month now, thank God.
Avatar f tn I took Flovent for 10 years to treat asthma but I came off it 3 years ago; I experienced my first "adrenal crisis" or whatever it's called after I quit the Flovent. Sudden vomiting, painful stomach pangs but at the time, I did not know what to do so I just did nothing and pushed through it. I was told afterwards I was lucky to have survived it but maybe that person was being dramatic? I don't know.
Avatar f tn Does anyone get a racing heart from taking flovent, or has expienced dizzeness, short of breath and lots of headaches?
Avatar f tn m allergic to grass and almost every tree, dust and animal my allergist says but the test sheet does not show elevated results on a few he says. Also taking singular, pantroprazol, Claritin and flovent. My allergy test from 2014 to my current one shows my allergies increased and I developed increased allergies to existing allergies and got a few more. I had a pulmonologist perform a lung function test and everything came back perfect.
Avatar n tn For some it will have the opposite effect. Also the max dose is 10mg so I would be really careful with that.

Avatar m tn Hi all. Almost 3 months ago, I was on my way home from work when I started feeling lightheaded, drowsy accompanied with shortness of breath. My breathing was really shallow and I subconciously was taking deep breaths every so often. I felt like I was going to faint at the wheel. This lasted for about 30 to 45 minutes. I got in to see my doctor and he said it was probably asthma and gave me an Advair inhaler to use if this ever happens again.
