flovent

20811006 tn?1518459943 s over works (Renal doc explained it that way to me) and a slow heart beat 46+ average at rest (Have been tested multiply times by cardiologist and he cannot find a cause and says heart is healthy and not to be concerned) so also very concerned what taking Flovent everyday could make these problems worse.
Avatar f tn Get off the prednisone as soon as possible. You have a "twitchy" lung. Often a single day or two of oral prednisone will "settle things down". Often, following a viral lung infection a bacterial infection develops, which covered the alveoli with a thin film. As posted here many "asthma problems" are the result of persistant low-grade bacterial infections. These often develop after a viral infection.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar n tn I have had asthma for about 15 years and sometimes have to take prednisone and an antibiotic. I just did come off of those two meds a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to sleep hardly at all. This has never happened before. I take combivent and flovent 2 times a day and have been doing this for a long time. I don't understand why I can't sleep when nothing has changed for me. I have tried pm meds and also ambien with no luck sleeping.
Avatar f tn I went to three different endos who were not very helpful. The edema spread to my hands, face and neck and I took myself off Flovent two summers ago and vomited several times from withdrawal and had a major stomachache. I had two asthma attacks that summer and was put back on Flovent. To make a long story short, my entire body is now swollen and it kills me to stand on my feet----I'm on my feet 8 hours a day at my job.
Avatar f tn The past few months of sicknesses has been the worst. He was on prednisone 3 more times and still while on Singulair. Now he is on Flovent and Singulair hoping to keep his wheezing under control. But he remains with this wet cough. It's from the asthma. Has your son ever had wheezing? The Singulair is pretty safe although it can have sleeping side effects. We have to give to him at night right b-4 bed or it keeps him up. It has helped, but just not enough.
Avatar f tn he was on Flovent for a couple years then it stopped working and he was in and out of the ER with asthma attacks and on and off prednisone, 60 mgs for weeks at a time. the best way the dr could describe what happened was by explaining that he developed a tolerance to his Flovent and he was switched to a different inhaled preventative inhaler. He was on Asmanex or a couple years and is now on Advair. He's been on Advair for three years and it seems to be doing the trick.
1232362 tn?1333135406 However I am on FLOVENT inhaler and Albuterol inhaler as a rescue backup, and I use the albuterol only when I feel an attack coming on. So I basically keep it in my purse for security. The FLOVENT is very effective in my case. I too have had asthma for about 30 yrs. But have it under control. Please read my other posts concerning asthma on this site as I don't want to repeat myself but perhaps my advice listed can help you some.
959034 tn?1253671476 My doctor is letting me choose between flovent and qvar to take with my Symbicort. Which works better? I'm still trying to get off prednisone.
Avatar f tn I am ok during the winter months. I told my doctor and he said it was ok. I just worry about coming down from the Advair like I used to with Prednisone. Does anyone know about inhalers that can be used in between Advair usage when the asthma isn't bad?
Avatar n tn Is it worse when they are sick with a cold? Hav ethey tried Flovent and Ventalin??
Avatar f tn Flovent is a corticosteroid for asthma. I take albuterol, a fast acting inhaler, that does raise my heart rate for about 10-15 minutes. A normal response to the medication. Since Flovent is a steroid, it shouldn't normally raise your rate. However, you may have a sensitivity to that particular medication. You should talk to your doctor about it, see if s/he can prescribe a different one for you.
Avatar f tn Saw ENT, flexible scope up my nose foind vocal cords, larynx and cartlidge in my throat were swollen and airway was comprised.iv steroids, flovent 220 and breathing treatments. The ENT said GERD. I have been on protonix My GI says it is not GERD. ad endoscopyseveral months afo and was negative for GERD. The pulmonologist said it was laringer spasms and a viral infection in vocal cords. Hospitalized for 3 weeks. Home on 20 days of oral steroids, flovent and nebulizer treatments.
1425157 tn?1311651679 you have to weigh out the benefits and what is more acute and has to be dealt with and not getting enough air to me take priority over an occasional fast heart however you want to make sure that the doc has okayed you to take an aspirin if you are going thru this to ward off the threat of clotting....good luck...in know i after getting the okay from the doc threw my inhalers away....just don't do it until the doc tells you to or gives you something else in its place.....
Avatar f tn My daughter was micro-aspirating at night (reflux aspiration) and once it got under control so did the asthma and that was yrs of Flovent, Singulair, inhalers, Prednisone! Her trigger was cat ...... once the cat passed away (20yrs old) so did her asthma improve ten-fold and so did her reflux .. Prilosec worked for her. Have you considered a total food elimination diet ? That would be total and add in one more thing ev. 3 days .... not just making changes here or there ?
Avatar n tn I was given 50mg of prednisone to wean off of. I was also given a three day regiment of azithromicin (zythromax) and Tussionex to control the cough. I was also given a DuoNeb. None of which seemed to work. After checking in with my primary care, i was given a flovent inhaler, to no avail. Following that, i was put on 80mg of prednisone, down to 60, then weaned off.
Avatar n tn s, and has had 2 left thorcatomies over the last 3 years to remove a bronchogenic cyst from her chest cavity. She has had much exposure to prednisone, flovent and other respiratory medications. I am devastated that she seems to be starting puberty early. Is she? Should I be worried? Could all of the medications to treat her respiratory issues cause this? Should I look to take her to a pediatric endochronologist? Please help.
Avatar f tn Then, a year ago I breathed in some glue that was pretty toxic, my throat and airway swelled and it was hard to breathe, I was prescribed flovent and prednisone and it calmed down in about a week. Since then I have had bronchitus twice, pneumonia once and been on prednisone 9 times. About 2 weeks ago I was in a store and breathed in a body spray that made my tongue swell 3 times its size and my throat swelled.
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Avatar f tn I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist. I suspect my little guy needs oral antibiotics + a topical treatment to get rid of this.
Avatar n tn I would go for the Ventolin. Flovent is a corticosteroid with serious side effects Among them are osteoporosis, overgrowth of Candida albicans, adrenal problems, cataracts, and on and on. In addition to Ventolin you can use natural anti-inflammatories. There are many - vitamin C, vitamin B6, mullein, marshmallow, boswellia, ginger, and on and on. I use a nebulized albuterol combination (Duoneb) as the only prescription. I no longer use inhaled steroids after developing serious problems.
Avatar f tn Christy, my 5 year old son is having the same problem. He has always had problems with bronchitis and coughs but it just isn't going away this time. He started a non stop cough about two weeks ago. It kept him up all night one night (and I heard some wheezing) so I took him to his pediatrician the next day. He did a chest X-ray and said that he saw some bronchitis. He had put my son on singulair about a month before this and it wasn't helping that much.
Avatar f tn Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?
Avatar m tn I have had a endoscopy and was told I have a fairly serious case of this disease, which is why I have swallowing difficulties and I given a prescription for flovent to treat it. However, I now have a $4000 deductible on my health insurance, and can no longer afford to spend $200 or $250 for the flovent inhaler. Canadian versions of the inhaler are slightly cheaper, but not by much.
Avatar m tn It also seems to be aggravated by fresh cut grass. I am taking prednisone 10 mg and soon to be taking Flovent and singulair to see if this has any effect on my symptoms. It is very strange though because I done very well on all of my Asthma tests that I had over the summer, I wonder if it is some sort of allergic reaction that is triggering this, or if this is asthma?
Avatar n tn I was very wheezy in the a.m. and at night.....he increased my flovent to b.i.d. who am I supposed to believe????? Also, why not...
