Common Questions and Answers about Flovent and benadryl

flovent

Avatar m tn I have had a endoscopy and was told I have a fairly serious case of this disease, which is why I have swallowing difficulties and I given a prescription for flovent to treat it. However, I now have a $4000 deductible on my health insurance, and can no longer afford to spend $200 or $250 for the flovent inhaler. Canadian versions of the inhaler are slightly cheaper, but not by much. I notice that the ingredient that in Flonase is the same (fluticasone propionate) as is found in Flovent..
Avatar f tn Flovent is a corticosteroid for asthma. I take albuterol, a fast acting inhaler, that does raise my heart rate for about 10-15 minutes. A normal response to the medication. Since Flovent is a steroid, it shouldn't normally raise your rate. However, you may have a sensitivity to that particular medication. You should talk to your doctor about it, see if s/he can prescribe a different one for you.
Avatar n tn I am using advair for my asthma and it seems to help with those symptoms and I also have a rescue inhaler Flovent. But i do clean my advair diskus before and after each use. I dont have any infections in my mouth or lung i just have the white mucus and it has only been happening for two months and I have been using the advair about a year now. I heard from someone that the white mucus could be from allergies...is that true?
Avatar f tn They said start with Xopenex (4-6x a day) and give him Flovent once in the morning and once at night. Do this for about 1-2 days. But doesn't it take weeks for Flovent to kick in? Why would they have me do it like this. How could it help him for only 1-2 days?

Avatar f tn I strongly suspect that the flovent (or I should say stopping the flovent) is the cause of the rash and that the use of the flovent supresses it. The pediatrician had not heard of this and subsequently referred us to a dermatologist. I know if will take several weeks to get an appointment with the dermatologist. I suspect my little guy needs oral antibiotics + a topical treatment to get rid of this.
Avatar n tn I would go for the Ventolin. Flovent is a corticosteroid with serious side effects Among them are osteoporosis, overgrowth of Candida albicans, adrenal problems, cataracts, and on and on. In addition to Ventolin you can use natural anti-inflammatories. There are many - vitamin C, vitamin B6, mullein, marshmallow, boswellia, ginger, and on and on. I use a nebulized albuterol combination (Duoneb) as the only prescription. I no longer use inhaled steroids after developing serious problems.
Avatar f tn Albuterol created a vocal cord problem. Now been put on Flovent Diskus 100mgc and continue the Albuterol. Question, do the Flovent and Advair have the fluticasone propionate ingredient in common? Tonight will be my 1st use of the Flovent. Concerned that I may have a mitral valve problem plus the emphysema. My symptoms of attack are severe shortness of breath, high heart rate, and the immediate need to urinate. Does anyone have anything similar to this?

Avatar m tn After a couple of minutes of coughing and spiting out and having a tablet of Benadryl allergy medication, things are pretty normal. The above mentioned reactions happen mostly in morning. I have tried: Zyrtec, Astelin, Flovent discus, among other medicines to no avail. Any suggestions on medicines or potential cures?
Avatar m tn I am taking Flovent, Spiriva and ProAir. Since I've been on the medication I've been Dxed with idiopathic neuropathy, cervical radiculopathy, carpel tunnel. I also have other entrapment symptoms, ulnar ,and I think in my legs as well. Sometimes I get a burst of nerve pain in my arms and legs a few minutes after using the Flovent and it also causes some tendon swelling. I've shown over and over that I have less pain on lower doses of meds.
20811006 tn?1518459943 s over works (Renal doc explained it that way to me) and a slow heart beat 46+ average at rest (Have been tested multiply times by cardiologist and he cannot find a cause and says heart is healthy and not to be concerned) so also very concerned what taking Flovent everyday could make these problems worse.
Avatar f tn I went to three different endos who were not very helpful. The edema spread to my hands, face and neck and I took myself off Flovent two summers ago and vomited several times from withdrawal and had a major stomachache. I had two asthma attacks that summer and was put back on Flovent. To make a long story short, my entire body is now swollen and it kills me to stand on my feet----I'm on my feet 8 hours a day at my job.
Avatar f tn Ive had asthma since I was in the 4th grade I am now 27 and have 3 kids. I absolutly can not go with out an inhaler. My kids are perfect. I don't like advare but flovent and aberterol is what I have been on for years. I would not stop taking any of the medicines that you are taking currently without your docters permission. That could be dangerous. I would ask about the flovent everyone is different and there are differnt types of treatment.
1100598 tn?1413127426 About 6 months ago I started itching and went to the Dr. who said I had head lice. My body itched too, so my hubby and I thought we had body lice...washed everything in hot water. Didn't help. My doctor treated us 5 times for scabies. That didn't work. My doctor said it was seborric dermatitis on my scalp. So I am using Selsin Blue after trying different shampoos. I use mild dye and fragarice free soap and laundry detergent. The Selsin helps but my scalp still itches.
Avatar f tn I also have panic attacks and asthma and i take xanax and advaire for them I also have pvc's pac's and svt and i take 120 mg of inderal and 120 mg of verapamil and have noticed no problems to speak of. The inderal is a beta blocker and the verapamil is a calcium channel blocker I really haven't noticed either making my asthma worse. I guess if you are worried talk to your doctor and pharmacists and see what they recommend.
Avatar n tn I discontinued the use of Advair (which is basically a combination of Serevent and Flovent) because it almost killed me (choking). It also caused adrenal fatigue, was harming my eyes, and was subverting my immune system. In place of Advair I use a variety of natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics. My health is much improved and I found that the severe bronchitis I had was in fact CAUSED by the Advair.
Avatar f tn We have tried benadryl, zyrtec, flovent. The PCP is thinking perhaps it is Oral Allergy syndrome, but also feels that it is not a typical case because she tested negative for the common allergens associated with this syndrome. Next week we are seeing an ENT. It comes and goes and seems to be gone all winter. We also tried keeping a food diary for a while but found no consistencies there. She has undergone two sets of blood tests and all is okay there. She cries a lot and is misery.
Avatar n tn My 3 year old is already taking allegra, flovent and now tagament twice a day. Along with battling what some have said are hives. She has scratched herself till she has scabs on many parts of her body. She has a special lotion, hypo allergenic shampoo, free and clear everything else that I can find. I am almost ready to pull out my hair because it seems that no one can give me a straight answer. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Avatar m tn i have used proair and the little red abuteral inhaler and now im on flovent none of these has worked for me. abuteral makes me really shaky and nervous and flovent is useless and really expensive. do you know of any other good inhalers or medications to try and also is there any meds to stop the irratation and itchy feeling in throat and chest due to asthma.
Avatar m tn What medicines have you or your children been on for this? My 3 year old son was just diagnosed with EE this past August, and he's been using Flovent 1 puff twice a day since then. The last month or two I've noticed that he has been extremely aggressive, agitated, and just plain mean and disrespectful. I am 100% sure it is due to the Flovent. Is there an alternative I should be asking for? Will all of the EE medicines give his just such a reaction since they are all going to be steroids?
